The Marvel Legends figure of Druig was released in the Autumn of 2021 as part of the MCU Eternals wave. The wave was made up entirely of MCU characters from the Eternals movie and it also included a BAF of Gilgamesh, allowing collectors to round out the full complement of Eternals when you combined the full-wave with the exclusive releases of Thena and Ajak. Druig was packed along with the head of Gilgamesh. He arrives in the standard Legends packaging with a golden theme around the nameplate and via the symbols on the side art. The rear of the box, and the card back, carries on that theme but blends it up to a starscape and with the Eternal circular symbol imprinted within. Alongside the artwork and BAF checklist on the back of the box is a short and non-descript piece on Druig. "Using cosmic energy to control the minds of others, Druig is aloof and powerful but at times it's hard to determine whether he is a friend of foe." The Eternals wave as a whole struggles with the actor's likenesses, particularly where they have tried to incorporate a particular facial impression. In Druig's case, the sculptors have kept it simple and that has produced the best likeness of the wave in the execution of the head sculpt and photo-real print of actor Barry Keoghan. The costume is once again fairly faithful to the screen prop with the robes of Druig cast in black with red markings added in intricate patterns across the chest and down to the flowing skirt sections of the more ornate robes that Druig wears in the movie. The black base does vary with high gloss black on the chest, shoulders, and bracers - with a more matt finish on the other areas and used in the soft plastic robes. Painting over black is not easy, and despite this, the red patterns are bright and neat throughout. There is a full set of sculpted legs, also cast in black, under the flowing robes and while the upper legs are taken from Ikaris - Hasbro have given Druig unique lower legs when they could have reused the parts from Ikaris or Druig who are a similar build. The Eternals wave as a whole is also devoid of significant accessories and like the other figures, Druig is packed with an alternative pair of hands only. You can choose from a pair of gesturing open hands, and a pair of clenched fists. Both slot in and out well enough and allow Druig some variation in his posing and gesticulation. While the entire lower half of Druig is sat behind restrictive plastic skirts, he is afforded the full set of articulation with 18 points in total. All the joints are pinless, including double joint elbows and knees. The legs can move a little under the skirted section but nothing past a basic neutral stand. The arms are more extensive, although you will find that the shoulder sections completely block the arms from being raised - that leaves all the movement coming out of the biceps and the elbow joints. All in all this does limit the posing options for Druig so he will be left looking moody or thoughtful within your wider Eternals group. Druig is the best-looking head sculpt in the wave, but the worse in terms of articulation, leaving him looking the part but very limited in options for posing do you will need to work the head and arm joints to bring some character into the pose. Kingo was packed with an arm for Gilgamesh, along with an alternative hand. He arrives in the standard Legends packaging with a golden theme around the nameplate and via the symbols on the side art. The rear of the box, and the card back, carries on that theme but blends it up to a starscape and with the Eternal circular symbol imprinted within. Alongside the artwork and BAF checklist on the back of the box is a short piece of background text introducing Kingo. "An Eternal with the power to project cosmic energy projectiles from his hands, Kingo over the centuries became enamored with the idea of fame." Like Sprite and Makkari, the Kingo head sculpt is spoiled marginally by the sculptor attempting to introduce a raised eyebrow expression. This works OK until you look at the left eye which now appears bulging and it throws off the entire head and likeness to actor Kumail Nanjiani. The head also suffers from very thick sculpted eyebrows, and a less than effective photo-real print application. Kingo is also missing his 5-o-clock shadow, an effect we know face-print can do really well. The outfit is executed well and is pretty accurate to the on-screen costume. Kingo has a base colour of pearlescent purple that is cast across all the main body parts with gunmetal grey panels added around the chest and down the front of the robes. Over this, we have silver and gold paint to bring out the celestial symbols and icons that start with the twin symbols on the chest and move down the front of Kingo's robes. Considering the scale and the size of the lines to be painted, the final product from the factory is neat and without any obvious errors. The silver, gold, and grey contrast really well and crisply from the base colour. Kingo follows suit with most of his fellow Eternals, coming packed with only a second pair of hands. The difference with Kingo is that the 2nd pair include the Cosmic Energy firing effect that he uses in the movie. These firing effects are done in translucent orange and are placed onto the two-finger firing pose of the hand. They look OK, but not spectacular. I also suffered with a very warped left-hand version based on the way it is taped into the box and then bent around the shape of the inner tray. These hands swap in well enough, swapping with a pair of clenched fists for a less-powered version of Kingo for display. Articulation for Kingo is the 18 point of articulation configuration and it utilises pinless joints throughout, including the double-joint knees and elbows. While there is some restriction by the skirt of the robes, Kingo does have plenty of posing options and he can achieve firing poses with the cosmic effect hands, so like Ikaris he is certainly a more dynamic figure for display vs the more static poses of some of the other Eternals. Kingo is a decent recreation of the onscreen portrayal with accurate costume & colours and a good level of articulation. The head sculpt does not do Kingo justice, although you can move the head to have him looking sideways which obscures the offending eye. While it is unlikely for Kingo to have another figure any time soon, I would hope that Kumail Nanjiani does have an opportunity for a future Marvel Legend in another MCU project as I enjoyed his take on the character and his unique take on his super powers in relation to his 'normal' life. Cad Bane, the Lee Van Cleef inspired Bounty Hunter, was a major player during The Clone Wars animated show appearing in a number of episodes that have since seen him translate to The Bad Batch as an antagonist, and then the biggest jump of all to live-action with his appearance in The Book of Boba Fett. Cad Bane's Black Series figure, taken from his Clone Wars appearances, was released in 2020 first as an exclusive with his droid TO-DO and then as a single release as part of the Galaxy Collection Wave 2. Cad Bane is number 06 in The Clone Wars series, following on from the Mandalorian Super Commando and slotting in just ahead of Asaaj Ventress. The Clone Wars series uses an appropriate golden yellow in line with the show's main logo and this features as a central border to the box and on the side artwork. The artwork interconnects with the other figures for a wider montage for those who keep the figures boxed. "A ruthless bounty hunter from the planet Duro, Cad Bane was the preeminent blaster-for-hire in the galaxy at the time of the Clone Wars. No quarry was too dangerous for Bane... if the price was right" To date, all of the animated Star Wars characters that have translated to the Black Series have been done so with a 'conversion' of sorts to a real-world setting. This is true also of Cad Bane who is sculpted as still slim and lithe, but in keeping with the Duros, we have seen on screen in Star Wars and not overly exaggerated with the slim waist and limbs we see on The Clone Wars. All details of his classic Clone Wars costumer are replicated including the combat vest, ammo belts around his waist, the armoured bracers with a flame thrower and other attachments, and of course his trademark long flowing coat. These are all cast in a base colour, with further details added to pick out each element such as the individual bullet casings, or the clasps on the coat. There is also a level of weathering added to give him a grubbier look as befits his role. Bane is also decked out with his twin holstered gunslinger belt that sits easily around his waist and lines up with his hands for a quick draw. And he is also fitted with his rocket boosters that are plugged into the legs on either side of the shin. Of course, it wouldn't be Cad Bane without the wide-brimmed Cowboy hat and this is an individual piece cast to perfectly fit the Duros head without looking oversized. Beneath the wide brim of the hat is a fully sculpted Cad Bane head sculpt. Again this is given the real-world setting overhaul with less enhanced features while retaining the key shape of Cad Bane's features and those deep-set red eyes. He comes with his rebreather gear that sits into the cheek section of the head at either side and then comes down the back of the neck to the breathing mechanism itself just below the collar on his coat. The final touch for the costume is his messenger bag which like the hat is individually cast and designed to drape the body perfectly and without looking out of place or sitting awkwardly over the shoulder. It is simply painted in a base brown and can be removed if you don't want it on display. Bane is also well armed with twin LL-30 blaster pistols cast in silver with painted brown grips. Bane's slim hands are designed to both include a trigger finger so you can pose a blaster in each hand in a firing pose. The hands are also sculpted as such that when the blasters are holstered neatly off Bane's hip, the hands appear to be in the draw position with that trigger finger itching and ready for firing. Cad Bane is looking good so far, and thankfully is not let down by his articulation either. He features the newer dual joint neck which does wonders for ensuring he can be displayed with the head and hat tilted forward to partially hide his face. The shoulders are also updated with the butterfly joints allowing him to hold the brim of his hat, or to draw and shoot his blasters in a variety of positions. There is a lot of thought gone into hiding these joints by the sculpt of the parts with overlapping coat sections neatly disguising much of the arm joints, and a similar approach on the legs to further disguise the thigh swivel and knees. Add in the articulation on the boosters, which rotate, and there is in the region of 23 points of articulation across Cad Bane. All of these work perfectly and he has a huge range of motion, including the option for some level of flight poses with an aftermarket stand. Cad Bane is, arguably, one of my favourite Star Wars Black Series figures on the basis of him ticking all the boxes in one release. He is a great sculpt, has excellent paintwork and weathering, comes with good accessories including his hat, and has good and well-designed articulation. There is nothing of any note to fault. The single release, as seen here, is identical to the Exclusive version in terms of the Cad Bane figure. The exclusive does include Cad Bane's droid TO-DO who remains exclusive to that 2020 Convention Set and is a great companion to Bane if you can track down that set. A number of new images have been circulated for the upcoming releases of the Star Wars: Visions figures of Am and Karre from S.H. Figuarts. The 6-inch figures will feature the usual S,H. McFarlane had teased two new video game figures over the past week or so with the new Arkham Knight and Green Lantern - and it seems we are getting a third as the Reverse-Flash, also from Injustice 2, has been listed. The trio of new additions are now listed for pre-order now ahead of a May 2022 release. Reverse Flash will come with Speedforce effect parts, while Green Lantern has a bow, quiver, and a bunch of arrows to slot in it - but no single arrow for posing with the bow. The Arkham Knight will feature a grapnel gun and two grenades. All three figures will still include the circular display base and collectible art card. Obsessed with uncovering the secret of super-speed, a scientist from the 25th century named Professor Eobard Thawne traveled back in time to meet his idol, The Flash. Hiya Toys have been making a name for themselves in the 1:18 scale action figure market for the last few years with some very impressive offerings for Predator, Aliens, and Warhammer 40k. In late 2021 they announced a new line of Judge Dredd figures in conjunction with 2000AD and within this, they confirmed they would be doing both 4-inch and 6-inch figures. It now looks like 2022 will see them expand their offerings into the 6-inch action figure arena on a larger scale with this confirmation via their social channels that they will soon be unveiling a 1:12 scale figure of classic 80's action hero, Rambo. The line will be called the Exquisite Super Series and considering the franchises in the Hiya stable, this could get very interesting. Tamashii Nations have released some images and details of a new S.H. Figuarts 1/12 scale figure of Doctor Strange from the upcoming MCU movie, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The figure will come with a single head option, a number of handpieces, soft goods cape with an internal wire for posing, and some impressive magic effects including one that involves a projection of a snake as seen in the trailer.
