The Artillery Stormtrooper made its debut in Season 2 of The Mandalorian, supporting Imperial Remnant Troops on Tython as they battled Din Djarin and his new allies of Boba Fett & Fennec Shand. The Black Series figure was announced as being an Amazon global exclusive. It was number 13 in the Galaxy Collection Mandalorian Series. It would be released in late 2021 although the supply was sporadic and several shipped items from the European delivery centres suffered from damaged or defaced boxes. The Trooper sits in the standard Black Series box with the side art that connects to the other releases in a wider montage for boxed collectors. The artwork of the Trooper shows him loading his mortar while a number of other Remnatn Imperial Troopers can be seen in the background. The accompanying text on the reverse of the box doesn't go into plot points as such, but rather the Troopers role within the Imperial Military "Specialized soldiers in the Imperial forces, artillery stormtroopers carry specialized indirect fire weapons like mortars onto the battlefield." The Trooper uses the newer Imperial Stormtrooper Body. This means the white armoured parts are cast in glossy white plastic, while the black joints and undersuit are individual black plastic cast pieces. This approach gives a crisper look to the figure overall and removes the need to paint black over white or vice versa which proved problematic on the older Stromtrooper. The new body is also executed with the helmet as a hollow piece added over a fully sculpted head - but this is glued into position and the head underneath, if you do try and remove the helmet, is not painted. The yellow that depicts the Trooper's role is added over the white armour, and also applied on the Pauldron which is taken directly from the original Sandtrooper figure from 2013. The backpack is a new piece and cast in black plastic with the artillery shells cast in white clipped in. The yellow panel added to the backpack is a little messy in both coverage and the lines of the paintwork. The backpack is designed to sit into the hole in the Stormtrooper body back, but the fit is quite loose and the pack has a tendency to drop off. Our Artillery Trooper is armed with the E-11 blaster that was seen on the generic release. This is cast in black plastic and fits into the right hand, where a trigger finger slots into place. Unlike the first release, there is no holster for the weapon when not in use. The main accessory for the Artillery Trooper is the mortar weapon. This is cast in grey plastic and features a round circular foot and an articulated pivot leg section that gets it stood flat on display. It is fed by artillery shells of which you get four, one loose in the pack on arrival and three more clipped into the backpack which you may be forgiven to think are sculpted parts, but they can be clipped out and used. The Artillery Shells do fit into the left hand of the Stormtrooper. The new Stormtrooper body has 19 points of articulation. These improve substantially on the original, while are also less intrusive so the overall aesthetic of the figure is much better with no pins on show. While the elbows and knees have been downgraded to single joints, they can bend to and beyond 90 degrees. The legs take advantage of this, and the engineering to allow the thigh armour to slide away into the groin section, to allow the Trooper to kneel ready to load his Mortar. The arms are given a wider range of motion thanks to butterfly shoulders under the chest armour which helps in weapon posing with the E-11 in particularly - even allowing the Trooper to raise it up to his helmet in a sniper pose. Every joint works as it should with no loose parts, the Trooper can be stood and posed in a multitude of display options. Stormtroopers are always going to sell in the Black Series line, particularly with all the improvements this newer body brings in both looks but also posing options. The Artillery Trooper, like the Incinerator Trooper before it, is a well-executed figure using the base body and additional parts and paintwork to recreate what we saw on screen. The new Mortar accessory works well and overall the only downside to the pack has been the availability, although that has now settled down and at the time of writing, you can still order the item via Amazon UK. The NECA Gremlins Accessory Set has opened for pre-orders ahead of an August 2022 release. The set features a smaller scaled articulated Gizmo - putting him in scale with the Gremlins themselves. There is a second static Gizmo and his car in which he can set. The Gremlins themselves get the bandit mask, aerobics shirt, and leg warmers that had been touted as a part of a Kickstarter a couple of years ago. The final inclusion is a Gremlin cocoon. The packaging shows a Gremlin wearing the keep-fit fear, but this is a cardboard insert. Any fan of the Gremlins movies knows the rules. The Marvel Legends Livestream for the 21st of February kicked off with a heads up about the global situation on shipping and potential displays to the line. They confirmed the arrival of the Doctor Strange wave into Hasbro Pulse and stores and confirmed they are working on more Spider-Man: No Way Home products. 2022 is the 60th Anniversary of Spider-Man, and the Marvel team is using a 'Beyond Amazing' logo for new Spider-Man products this year, The first Spider-Man reveal was a classic Rhino on the Retro card. He is a re-work of the old BAF including paintwork and with tweaks so the pins are now filled in. He has two head options and alternative hands. He opens for pre-order on the 22nd of February and is a Fan Channel Exclusive. The next reveal is the Future Foundation Stealth Suit, shown as a digital render. He is a 2022 release but won't open for pre-order just yet as he is quite early on in development. The Disney+ Wave for 2022 will be a Build-a-Figure wave and the BAF has been revealed as Ultron from Season 1. He will stand around 7-inch tall and has pinless joints. The wave will be the home for the Hawkeye & Kate Bishop figures shown last year. With more to be revealed and updated in the coming weeks. The X-Men VHS figures will expand to include Storm. She includes cell-shading paint deco and a new hair piece for this release and as seen in the X-Men cartoon series. She has an alternative pair of hands. Storm opens for pre-order on the 22nd February and is a Fan Channel Exclusive shared in the future with Shop Disney. The 20th Anniversary Series of figures will include Toad, but he is coming so we are told to be patient. The 20th Anniversary will be celebrated with new reveals on the 20th of each month and that started yesterday with the Blue Marvel figure. Blue Marvel will feature some cosmic effects to attach to the hands. In the same wave, we have an Iron-Man figure with the complete pin-less body, inspired by the current Alex Ross books. The third figure is Speed-Ball who features some pretty impressive deco on the arms, neck, and head. Madame Hydra features a new head sculpt and hair, as well as a Hydra, branded holsters & belt. US Agent uses the Kraven/Captain America buck and has a new head sculpt and updated shield. The new Thor figure is a brand new pinless sculpt and comes with some Raven accessories and his new hammer. The final figure is Quake with a new head sculpt and swap out hands so she can have her power gloves. The figure can actually be updated to Maria Hill with an alternative head included in the box The Build-a-Figure for the wave is an impressive The Controller who uses parts from the Thanos Deluxe figure The entire wave is up for pre-order as of the 22nd of February. The panel gave us an update on Galactus with a focus on the leg articulation considering the issues that some experienced with the Sentinel. The big final reveal from Mezco in their Toy Fair 2022 weekend was certainly a doozy as they revealed a new deal with Nickelodeon to produce action figures from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The promo images show the One:12 Collective figures of Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael each with their appropriate weapons. Announced via Bleeding Cool as part of the NECA Toy Fair 2022 weekend was the next in the Lost Tribe Predator figures, the Shaman Predator. This revised version of the Shaman is updated considerably on the 2011 release. He comes with two head options - the first masked with a new skull mask, the other unmasked. He is armed with his staff, a skull hatchet, a ritual dagger, and open throwing discs. The costume also features a soft goods cloak, and he is also adorned with a bone necklace and comes with a human skull. As part of the virtual Toy Fair 2022 reveals, The Fwoosh were handed an exclusive look at the next few figures NECA have planned for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line. The video, as seen in the link below, has VeeBee from The Fwoosh chatting all things TMNT with Trevor Zammit of NECA and having a look over some already revealed figures, confirming some earlier teases and getting a look at some future releases. The Fwoosh video and subsequent gallery of images confirms the following for the NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle line. TMNT Cartoon Series We have a better look at the Rock Infantryman and the Crooked Ninja Gang 2-pack, as well as the first look at Zach 'The Fifth Turtle' and Smash who will also come in a future 2-pack. There were more images of the previously confirmed Usagi Yojimbo. Mirage Comics NECA will return to the Mirage Comics source material in 2022 with the previously teased Fugitoid figure, and a new figure of Utrom. Rennet, as announced yesterday is taken from the Mirage Comics but the colour scheme is inspired by her IDW remastered appearance. A new Casey Jones was also teased. The Last Ronin, taken from the IDW comics, will have two versions including a shirtless variant. Archie Comics, the TMNT Adventures The Archie Comics series will also be explored in 2022 with figures of Slash, and Ray Fillet with Man Ray. There is also a two-pack planned of Jagwar and Dreadmon. The Marvel Legends figure of Sersi was released in the Autumn of 2021 as part of the MCU Eternals wave. The wave was made up entirely of MCU characters from the Eternals movie and it also included a BAF of Gilgamesh, allowing collectors to round out the full complement of Eternals when you combined the full-wave with the exclusive releases of Thena and Ajak. Sersi was packed along with the leg of Gilgamesh. He arrives in the standard Legends packaging with a golden theme around the nameplate and via the symbols on the side art. The rear of the box, and the card back, carries on that theme but blends it up to a starscape and with the Eternal circular symbol imprinted within. Alongside the artwork and BAF checklist on the back of the box is a short overview of Sersi's powers. "The Eternal with an affinity for humanity, Sersi has the ability to manipulate matter, changing the make-up of any non-sentient material she touches" With much of the Eternals wave disappointing with the head sculpts it is great to see Sersi buck that trend and gets back on track in terms of the quality of head sculpt and deco we expect from the Marvel Legends line. The likeness to Gemma Chan is impressive, with the photo-real face print capturing her eyes brilliantly as well as adding realistic shading around the facial features - it is a triumph. The hair is OK but has been sculpted as though blowing in the wind. This gives Sersi a dynamic look but does restrict the head movement slightly as any tilting of the head leaves the hair levitating. I would have preferred to see the more flowing hair we see on the box art. Like most of the other Eternals, the costume on Sersi is fairly accurate to the screen costume although it is missing the rear silver flowing robes, and the shoulder armour that we see on screen and ironically on the box art. The body shape itself is accurate in terms of Sersi's slim build and height. While you could have forgiven Hasbro for re-using parts between Sersi and Makkari - this is not the case, and every item on Sersi is sculpted for her figure. The body translates from the sculpted parts to a softer rubber sleeve over the midsection that translates down into the skirt section and the flowing elements of the lower robes while maintaining the waist and body shape. The decor captures the central celestial logo on her chest to the lines and patterns of the costume which is predominantly a metallic green with inlaid painted silver panels and designs. Paintwork, where applied, is neat and tidy with no obvious errors or issues. It is no surprise to find Sersi packed only with a spare pair of hands only as accessories. You get a pair of open palm hands fitted with Sersi in the box and can swap these out for a clenched fist right hand, and gesturing left hand with two fingers outstretched - her hand position when she reaches out to items to transform them. These interchange well enough. Sersi's celestial power does not translate into something Hasbro could have included as an effect accessory, but it would have been good to have a bit more perceived value with Sersi such as the dagger we see at the start of the movie. Sersi has a total of 16 points of articulation with a pinless application across the body. As a slimmer female figure her elbows are downgraded to a single joint which also rotates, this then negates the need for a bicep swivel. The arms remain pretty wide-ranging in their movement, although the shoulders are a little loose. The legs can move within the confines of the lower skirt and work securely to keep Sersi standing once posed with a secure ratchet operation at the knees and ankles, and tight joints at the hips. Sersi is arguably the best looking overall from the Eternals wave, but is missing key components of her costume - notably the rear cloak piece and shoulder armour, although the latter would have interfered with her articulation. Said articulation is good, particularly the pinless execution, but does suffer from limited arm movement and loose joints at the shoulders. Sersi will finish an Eternals team display brilliantly and is also a good standalone figure in terms of overall execution.
