As revealed last week, Mandora is coming to the Super7 Ultimates Thundercats line, and not only that she is getting her Electro-Charger vehicle. The two are split into two releases and are listed as wave 5.5 of the Thundercats Series. This will allow fans to choose to buy just the figure, just the vehicle, or both. Mandora will come with three heads as well as the usual selection of alternative hand options. She is armed with her electronic boomerang, and also comes with a badge, ticket machine, communicator, and handcuffs. The Electro-Charger comes with a swap-out control panel, and swap-out fuselage to convert it from wheeled mode to a flight option at which point it can be positioned on the clear flight stand. There is also a soap sprayer, soap effect piece, and a radio. As is usual, the Wave 5.5 releases are open for pre-order for a month - closing on the 8th of April. Jada Toys are starting to reveal the next figures to join their 6-inch Universal Monsters action figure line. So far, shadowy images of The Wolfman and The Invisible Man have been released on their social media channels with the confirmation that these are an Autumn 2022 release. It is not clear if this is all the Autumn releases, or if there are more to come - especially considering wave 1 was a 4-figure release. The Clone Wars figures within the Star Wars Black Series Galaxy Collection have seen a lot of retailer exclusives over the course of the run and the latest 212th Battalion Clone Trooper is the latest, sold via Walgreens in the US and elsewhere globally via Fan Channel retailers. The figure is the 9th in the Clone Wars run, following on from the recent release of Aurra Sing. The packaging is the standard, slanted side, galaxy collection box we have now had for a couple of years and it comes complete with the side art that connects to the figures on either side for a wider montage image. The Clone Wars figures use a yellow accent colour that is included on the border rail for the window, in the side art, and round the back of the box where we also pick up a short piece of text for the Trooper. This text is very generic and does not capture any details about the 212th Battalion or their Clone Wars appearances as we might expect it to. "Far superior to battle droids, clone troopers formed the backbone of the Republic's new military that waged war against the forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems" The 212th Clone Trooper uses the newer Clone Trooper body introduced in 2020 with the Kamino Clone Trooper. This new design is a much cleaner look vs the older body as it splits the parts into white armour and black undersuit without the need to paint black over white or vice versa. The figure also includes a helmet over a molded head sculpt - this can't be removed on this release, nor is the head painted. The 212th colours are added over the armour in a deep yellow paint tone. The paint is applied with slightly uneven edges, replicating how the Clone Troopers applied their own paint job to the armour. It is applied as a clean 'fresh' look rather than the scratched and worn colours we have seen on other Clones such as the 501st releases. Clone Troopers, as a rule, have always come with two weapons in the Black Series allowing the choice of the shorter DC-15S blaster carbine and the longer DC-15A blaster rifle. The 212th only includes the smaller DC-15S. While many collectors will have spare DC-15A rifles, the decision to give the Trooper one weapon only is disappointing. The blaster uses the slightly newer sculpt and is cast in black with no paint apps. It fits into the right hand where a flexible trigger finger slots into place. There are no holster options. The new Clone Trooper body was seen as an opportunity to improve articulation and the 212th Trooper comes with 19 points of articulation, all executed on pinless joints to improve the aesthetics. This engineering does have a bit of trade-off with how the elbow and knee joints are tackled, with the elbow/knee pad not moving with the joint leaving a slightly odd look in some poses. The upper articulation, with added butterfly joints in the shoulders, is impressive and much better than the original with the options for a number of different firing positions. The head, with its dual joint neck, is also very mobile and the whole upper body is supported by the midsection ball joint. The legs are not quite as extensive in their movement, with the thigh armour sitting too high and blocking some kneeling poses that the first release of the Clone Troopers could achieve. As an exclusive, the 212th attracts - for some reason - a higher base price point, and for this, you do get arguably less than a standard release. The 212th should really include both standard-issue Clone Trooper guns as a starter. And it would be nice for Hasbro to start using the molded head and removable helmet to better effect, although I appreciate that adds further deco costs. What we do get is a crisp and well-painted Clone Trooper that articulates and poses well. The strength of any figure like this for many is army building, and its exclusivity will work against it in this case. The Star Wars Black Series Umbra Operative ARC Trooper was announced in December 2021 as the 9th figure in the Gaming Greats Galaxy Collection Series. The figure is based on a Galactic Republic Clone Trooper skin from EA's Battlefront II videogame. The figure was touted as a late 2022 release, between October and December. It would actually land in early March 2022 at UK retailers (Fan Channel). The Umbra Trooper comes in the usual Galaxy Collection packaging with the blue hue as applied to all Gaming Greats releases in the line. The Gaming Greats foil logo is applied to the bottom right of the window, and the source game is confirmed across the blue border and then again on the rear box image that carries the Battlefront II logo. To the side of this sits a short piece of text that covers the Trooper's appearance in the game rather than any background for the Unit or Trooper type which was created solely for the game. "The Umbra Operative ARC Trooper is part of the infiltrator reinforcement unit for the Galactic Republic in the action-packed multiplayer game across all 3 eras, Star Wars: Battlefront II." As is standard for the Gaming Greats line as a whole, the Umbra Operative is not a newly developed figure but rather a repaint of the existing ARC Trooper Echo figure from 2021. The only difference applied between the two figures, other than paint, is that the pouch hanging from the pauldron is on the figure's right, not the left. The armour is cast in gloss black plastic throughout, including the areas that represent the bodysuit underneath the armour. Over this, we have additional parts using the softer plastic including the dual pauldron, and the kama skirt piece complete with belt and dual holsters. To the back we have an ARC Trooper backpack, while this is an added piece to the Clone Trooper armour, it has been glued in place and is not removable. The orange decor is painted over the gloss black and in a way that recreates how this is applied by the Clones themselves with the edges left rough and worn in places. The coverage over the black is good in most areas apart from the skirt section where the finish is a little duller. The helmet is executed in the same way as the armour - a cast gloss black piece with painted yellow markings. Like most recent Troopers, there is a fully sculpted head under the helmet but this is left unpainted and the helmet is glued in place. The most recent Clone Troopers are seeing their weapons scaled back in the Black Series, and while ARC Trooper Echo came with a full set of blaster pistols, rifle and carbine the Umbra ARC Trooper is left with just a pair of DC-17 blaster pistols. These are the existing sculpt cast in black with no paint apps. Like other Clones issued with these dual pistols, there is an issue with the left-hand grip. While the right hand is fitted with a trigger finger, the left is the same gripping hand as all the other Clone figures to date - designed to grip the barrel of other larger weapons. This means the blaster grip in the left hand is not quite secure and looks a little off. When not in use the blasters sit into the dual holsters. Articulation on the Umbra Operative starts with the range finder on the helmet. This is on a pivot that allows it to rotate down and over the right eye. In terms of more traditional articulation, the Umbra ARC Trooper has 19 points of articulation in total, and the body is pinless throughout which further enhances the aesthetics. We get the newer combination of a butterfly shoulder joint to back up the arm articulation, and the neck is jointed top and bottom for head movement. Every joint works as it should and each is secure and with ratchets build in where you'd expect including the ankles, knees, and elbows. While the joints are extensive, the armour coupled with the shoulder pauldron and kama does restrict the range of posing. The Umbra Trooper cannot kneel or crouch due to a combination of the thigh armour and the kama skirt itself. The arms can move a little more freely, but there is some blocking of the shoulders when the armour clashes with the torso - more so on the right rather than the left. This prevents the arms from being lifted beyond about 45 degrees. This means any blaster posing shots are always with the ARC Trooper aiming downwards. Fans of the Clone Trooper Armour are being treated at present with a lot of new Troopers being released both from the TV & Movies, but with other Troopers mined from the Battlefront II game and out of all of these the Umbra Operative is one of the most visually striking. The black armour is something we have seen on Imperial Stormtroopers, but it does suit the Clone Troopers just as well - particularly with a striking paint job over the top. The figure is a little shortchanged with accessories and should really have included one or both of the larger Clone blasters - especially when these Gaming Greats and other Exclusives are being priced at a good £2-£3 higher than the mainline. Like all exclusives, the premium price and the limited availability will work against it - especially when hardcore Clone Trooper & Clone Wars collectors would like Squads of this Trooper for display. Some digital mockup images of Playmates' new Star Trek figures in their packaging have been circulated online. The Next Generation figures will retain the same design of the original Playmates figures, while those from The Wrath of Khan will drop onto a recreation of the original Classic Star Trek card - with the Enterprise Ship using the same design as a boxed package. The Star Trek Discovery duo will come on new cards that use a blue base colour and the newer Star Trek Universe logo. Entertainment Earth will be carrying an Exclusive McFarlane Batman Beyond Glow-in-the-Dark variant this Spring. the Mezco One:12 Collective Snake Eyes from their new G.I. Joe license was revealed during their February Toy Fair virtual event. The figure has now been revealed in all its glory and pre-orders have opened ahead of an early 2023 release (between January & March). The 6-inch scale figure features the usual high-end articulation and tailored clothing. Snake Eyes also comes with a large number of accessories including his twin swords with their sheaths, a machine gun, handgun with blast parts, twin knives, throwing stars, throwing daggers, smoke bombs, and two effect pieces to show Snake Eyes throwing either the throwing stars or the smoke bomb. There are also a multitude of hand options packed in to allow Snake Eyes to handle all the weapons. A display stand is also included. The set will also feature an articulated Timber, although this is not yet fully revealed. Timber is listed in the promo text as coming with two additional heads, while the image only says one other is included. We will have to wait a little for the reveal of Timber for more details. Enter Snake Eyes, the mysterious, highly classified commando and latest addition to the One:12 Collective! The One:12 Collective Snake Eyes is outfitted for stealth and functionality in all black. His chest harness can hold a group of 3 grenades (permanently attached) and his ninjatō or falchion sword, his utility belt can hold his tanto knife, and his thigh holster can hold his handgun. Timber, Snake Eye’s companion and pet wolf, is included and features 3 interchangeable head portraits as well as over 20 points of articulation. The hybrid ninja-commando is armed and ready, complete with an overflowing arsenal including a three-section nunchaku 6 grenades, submachine gun with removable silencer, two butterfly swords, six shuriken in varying styles, and much more. Big Chief Studios are a UK-based company that until recently have specialised in higher-end 1/6 scale collectibles importing and selling lines such as Hot Toys & Sideshow, whilst also developing and releasing their own product including their impressive Doctor Who 1/6 figures. They now appear to be moving into a 6-inch scale with a set of new Peaky Blinders Action Figures having gone live on Big Bad Toy Store. The figures are based on the hit BBC show which returns for its sixth and final series this month. We can look forward to figures of both Tommy and Arthur Shelby. Each Shelby will have two variants, one with a long coat and cap - and one without. Accessories will be included with each figure coming with a couple of weapons including automatic pistols and submachine gun. There are then other pieces spread across the four figures like a cigarette case, hip flash, whisky bottle and tumbler of whisky. The figures appear to have around 16 points of articulation assuming there is a joint at the ankles, waist, and neck.
