The next Star Wars Fan Celebration reveal came courtesy of both Fantha Tracks and Bossk's Bounty and it is another addition to the Gaming Greats line. As teased on the packaging for the 13th Batallion Clone Trooper, the new release is another member of Delta Squad from the Republic Commando videogame - namely Fixer, RC-1140. Fixer will use the Clone Commando body that originated with Hunter from the Bad Batch and was used to create the Gaming Greats Boss figure. He will feature an updated backpack as seen in the game. The Gaming Greats Fixer is open for preorders as of the 17th March 2022 with a Spring 2023 release date (this may be brought forward). It is a Gamestop US exclusive, and available as a Fan Channel exclusive in the UK but as it stands only via Hasbro Pulse and Zavvi. CBR have exclusively revealed the NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cartoon 2-Pack of Tokka and Rahzar. The duo will come with alternative hands and an array of foodstuffs. The next release from Storm Collectibles in their videogame line is Blue Mary from King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match. Blue Mary will come with four different head sculpts and 5 individual pairs of hands. She will also feature a special effect piece that takes the form of a blast effect on the ground. Bandai have announced two new action figure kits arriving later this year in the Star Wars line. This kit format is a cross between Action Figures and an Airfix model, requiring you to build the action figure from a set of sprued parts - including customisable options, different parts, and the option to use the included base colours, stickers, and decals - or to use your own paint job. The 1/12 kits will continue on from The Mandalorian releases, with a new 6-inch scaled kit of Boba in his re-armoured gear from Season 2. It will feature alternative hand options, an unmasked unpainted head. soft good elements to the robes as well as both of Fett's blasters. We will then be able to build two new versions of Grogu, one in 1/12 scale in his hoverpram, and a larger 1/4 scale version. These are part of the same set, a format we saw a few years ago with their Yoda figure kit. The larger quarter-scale Grogu will come with four individual face plates - including one eating a frog - and there are also alternative ears The smaller Grogu is in scale with their 1/12 Mandalorian (as seen in the images but not included) and will include a closed lid option in the build. The Super7 Godzilla Toho Ultimates line has officially launched with the first two figures of Godzilla and Biollante from the 1989 Godzilla vs Biollante movie kicking us off as the first series. Godzilla will come with two head options and a number of interchangeable hands. He also features an alternative neckpiece with the second piece being wrapped in Biollante's vines. Godzilla stands 8 inches tall and measures 14 inches from jaw to tail. Biollante features two head options, a number of articulated vines and four vine heads with poseable jaws - two normal and two battle-damaged. Biollante is 8 inches tall, 8 inches long, and a massive 10 inches wide. Both figures will follow the usual route to market with a pre-order window running until the 16th of April 2022. The Nightbrother Warrior was one of the adversaries you faced off against during the Dathomir missions playing EA's Jedi: Fallen Order. Like a number of the Fallen Order characters, the Nightbrother was announced as joining the Star Wars Black Series and within the Gaming Greats line. While the UK and other territories saw him released in the Autumn of 2021, there were delays in the US to Spring 2022 where he is sold exclusively at Gamestop. The Nightbrother Warrior is the 5th release in the Gaming Greats Series. The packaging for the Gaming Greats Galaxy Collection is identical to the mainline but carries a metallic hexagonal sticker applied to the window. The same logo is repeated on the side spine and the video game is referenced on the rear artwork alongside the background text. This text lays out the premise of the game and the role of the Nightbrother Warrior within it. "Set in dark times, soon after the execution of Order 66, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order features Nightbrother warriors - territorial and extremely hostile fighters known for a proficient use of mixed combat styles" The Gaming Greats line as a whole has been made up of tweaked and repainted figures, and the Nightbrother continues that trend, using the 2021 release of Darth Maul in the Publishing Series for the torso, arms and legs - the legs themselves being re-used from the original 2013 Maul. He gets a new head sculpt as well as a new skirt piece which is more ragged than the one Maul was wearing. The upper body is cast in a yellow plastic over which are painted patches of lighter yellow for skin tone variation. The black tribal markings are then added with a final white circular icon added over the chest. The legs are cast in brown with the boots painted in gloss brown. The skirt piece is also cast in the base colour with a silver-painted buckle. The head is cast in black plastic and includes the Zabrek head horns which are longer than those we see on the Maul figures and these are painted in a bone white colour. The head looks to have some level of face print application for the eyes at least which are well executed considering the size of them and how set back they are in the eye sockets. The facial markings are painted on in a bright yellow that is slightly different to the body colour. It is not quite uniform with the chin markings being out of line to the lips for example - this is the same on all the Nightbrothers's I have seen and it may be down to the original reference material which does show a slight offset of the lip marking from the few images we have close up of the Nightbrother. We have a single accessory for the Warrior a four-pronged melee weapon cast in dull metallic gunmetal with painted brown leather on the wrapped grips and bone white used again on the tooth/horn/spike we see on the base of the weapon. The Nightbrother's hands - as donated by Maul - were designed to hold a lightsaber hilt so they work brilliantly for this weapon allowing him to wield it in either hand or both hands thanks to the upper arm articulation. The articulation for the figure is an impressive 19 points of articulation. The legs are the older double joint knees which will allow him to sit or kneel if needed without the skirt piece obstructing the movement. The ankle rocker is still not ratcheted and like all the Maul figures to use these legs, there is a stability concern over time with these ankles working loose. The upper torso has the newer articulation which includes the addition of butterfly shoulders which supports more dynamic posing with the weapon. The neck too has two joints at either end doing away with the need for a visible neck pivot and giving the Nightbrother quite a bit of range for looking menacing... The figure may borrow many of its parts from previous figures, but it does tick most of the boxes in terms of bringing the video game Nightbrother into the 6-inch figure format. Hasbro have avoided just repainting Maul's head and given us a new sculpt and have also updated the skirt piece which was perhaps something they could have got away with leaving in place. Paintwork is well applied, and while the face markings may initially look off, they are a match to what we see on screen. The Nightbrother's popularity will depend on your feeling for the game itself and the worldbuilding it did and the new characters it brought us. By now including these in a sub-line like Gaming Greats collectors can choose to buy or not without leaving a hole in their collection or numbering system. The exclusivity, particular in the US, may both help and hinder - increasing its popularity through a fear of missing out, whilst also leaving some collectors frustrated when you hear stories of long-standing pre-orders being cancelled. Star Wars Republic Commando, released in 2005, introduced us to the Clone Trooper Commandos via Delta Squad and their leader Republic Commando RC-1138, otherwise known as 'Boss'. While not canon at the time, the Clone Commando Trooper would go on to appear on The Clone Wars in Season 3 and their armour and equipment would form the basis for The Bad Batch. It is the Bad Batch figures of Hunter and the like that have opened the door for the release of the Clone Commando into the Star Wars Black Series Gaming Greats line, utilising sculpted parts from The Bad Batch to bring Boss into the 6-inch figure format. RC-1138 is the 7th release in the Galaxy Collection Gaming Greats Series, and he follows on directly from the Jet Trooper from Battlefront 2. The Gaming Greats use the same packaging as the mainline with the addition of a foil logo on the window and a repeat of this logo on the side of the box. Unlike standard releases, the back of the box artwork also includes a logo attributing the figure to its source material and that is also covered in the brief text write up that accompanies the image. "Republic Commando introduced the elite Delta Squad, a team of clone commandos dispatched to handle the most dangerous missions for the Republic." Boss is created using the body of Hunter from The Bad Batch, down to the slot in the left forearm where Hunter's knife holster goes which is left unfilled. The shaping of the amour is OK in terms of the overall design of the Clone Commando but the body is too slim - particularly in the waist - this was noticeable on Hunter and is even more apparent on Boss who is meant to be a bulkier Clone Commando packing heavier duty armour and protection. The body appears to have been drawn up from an animated source rather than translating it to a real-world setting, with the chest and waist actually slimmer and smaller than a standard Phase 2 clone. The Armour is all cast in white, and a duller white as opposed to the gloss we have seen on other Clone Troopers. Over this is painted the orange markings for Boss including the large chest section and shoulder pauldron. The markings are all executed as though applied by hand by the Trooper themselves which leaves rougher edges. The upper arms are cast in black rather than white and therefore the orange painted over the two upper arms is much duller than the other armour panels. The helmet is a new piece to the line and is a full solid piece with no sculpted head underneath. It is also cast in white with the orange stripe allied with rough edges. We also have a blue metallic, almost mirror-like visor, and grey details on the breathing apparatus and to the sides of the helmet. There is an attempt to weather the figure with the application of a final paint app in certain areas. It doesn't quite make up its mind what it wants to be with the shoulder looking like the orange has scratched off to reveal the white beneath - while the midriff and legs have grey almost silver splashes which are either meant to be dirt or indicate the white armour is scratched and revealing a metal silver underneath - which of course is not possible as the armour is a Plastoid The backpack is also taken directly from Hunter and slots into a hole on Boss's rear back area via a t-shaped plug and socket. The fit is snug and secure and the backpack does add a bit of much-needed bulk to the Commando body. The backpack is also cast in white with more orange added over the top of the main section. There are also two silver-painted panels lower down. Unlike the original 3.75-inch Clone COmmando, the pack on this larger 6-inch version is a solid piece and does not open - this would have been a cool function to include! Boss is armed with a single weapon, the DC-17m Clone Commando Blaster Rifle. Once again this has been taken directly from Hunter and is a relatively detailed piece cast in black plastic but with zero paint applied to bring out the detail. It is crying out for the silver highlights we see when playing Clone Commando. The weapon also feels small in comparison to what we see in the game and on-screen and on The Clone Wars coming in more around the size of a single hand blaster and not a two-handed blaster rifle. Boss has the same hands as a standard Clone Trooper figure, allowing the weapon to be held in the right hand where a trigger finger engages into the gun. The left hand can then be attached to the underside of the barrel for a two-handed grip. Boss has a good range of articulation with 19 points of articulation in total. He is a newer body so is pinless throughout and while the knees and elbows are single jointed, they have a good range allowing for having the blaster raised to eye level in a sniping pose, or putting Boss into a kneeling pose. When the knees are bent, the knee armour can look a little strange when the knees are bent as it is left attached to the upper thigh so does ride up on the leg. The shoulder armour is sat on a flexible tab allowing the panels to move up and down with the arm articulation - this will likely be a weak spot over time. The arms are meant to be further enhanced by the new butterfly shoulders which are sat back within the chest section, this does limit their movement. The Clone Commando feels disappointing in hand, all stemming from the original decision to slim down Hunter from The Bad Batch. The re-use of this armour for Boss has left us with a figure that is too slim and smaller in stature than the other Clone Troopers in the line. Like the body, the blaster also feels a touch too small and the figure lacks a presence you might expect from the more elite Commando Troopers. The new helmet is well-executed, and most of the paint-work is well applied although I am not convinced by the patch weathering. Articulation is spot on and this is perhaps the saving grace allowing you to pose Boss in a way that the slim waist and upper torso are less noticeable. Sadly with this Clone Commando body now established in the Black Series, we are unlikely to see any updates to a more accurate version and are likely also to see the body re-used for other Commando Troops from the game like Fixer, Scorch, or Sev - or for someone like Gregor in The Clone Wars series. The Gaming Greats series of Star Wars Black Series figures is an exclusive line that brings us figures based on the various video game releases from the Star Wars Universe. They are predominantly repainted or tweaked figures, like this new Jet Trooper who is based on the troop type from EA's Battlefront II. The Jet Trooper was released in early 2022 as a Gaming Greats Exclusive, sold by Gamestop in the US and via more general Fan Channel routes elsewhere. He is packed in the standard Galaxy Collection packaging complete with slanted side artwork that connects to the packaging on either side to create a wider montage as you can see at our Galaxy Collection gallery page. The Gaming Greats do include a metallic foil sticker on the window and the same logo used on the side spine. The Jet Trooper is number 06 in the series, following on from the Nightbrother and preceding the RC-1138 Clone Commando. The artwork on the spine and repeated on the back shows the Jet Trooper against a backdrop of Kamino, with the wording on the back that focuses more on the game mechanics and how these Jet Troopers are called in as reinforcements. "Star Wars: Battlefront II lets players call in reinforcements from the most skilled soldiers and units in the galaxy, including the aerial specialist Jet troopers." The Jet Trooper uses the original Clone Trooper (2014) body as a base. While the newer body is seen as crisper and cleaner, there was a decision made to not use this - although they have replaced the original Phase 2 helmet/head with the newer sculpted helmet that is glued onto an unpainted Clone Trooper head beneath. The body as a whole is cast in white gloss plastic with the infill areas either painted in black or where needed cast in black with any white elements painted. This is one disadvantage of the older body and leads to some rough paintwork around the joints where paint has overlapped. Paintwork is applied in the 501st blue, or a slightly lighter shade of it compared to other 501st releases. There are also red markings on the helmet as seen in the game. These paint applications are neat and applied with precision and the figure does not have the rougher painted edges we see on other Clones who have been painted as though they have decorated their armour themselves. The older body does give the Clone good proportions overall, the newer body does look a little 'animated' in its styling. The Jet Pack in the game is modelled on a Mandalorian Jet Pack, so it is no surprise that the Jet Pack packed with our Jet Trooper originates with the Jango Fett figure. A hexagonal hole has been added to the rear of the Clone Body into which the circular peg for the Jet Pack sits with two upper tabs holding it straight and secure. Despite the peg and hole being different shapes, the fit is surprisingly tight and secure. The Jet Pack, like the armour, is cast in white with added blue and grey painted details. These are also a little rough around some of the edges and the blue parts are certainly much duller than the colour used on the armour. For those hoping for a socket in each of the Jet outlets so aftermarket flame effects could be added - I am afraid the jet's thrusters are a solid filled piece. Again, directly referencing the game, our Jet Trooper is armed with a single DC-17 blaster pistol. This piece has been in circulation for some time - since Captain Rex - and has been used on multiple Clone releases since. It is cast in black with limited detail and no paint apps. The Jet Trooper retains the right hand of the original Clone Trooper with trigger finger so holds the weapon in the right hand really well. There are no holstering options on the figure. As this is the older Clone Trooper body we have an 18 point of articulation count and the Trooper comes with double-jointed elbows and knees. This does have some advantages over the newer body in terms of posing, but the joints are pinned so there are visible pins on show at the major joints which is not ideal in overall aesthetics. He also misses out on the butterfly shoulders, but unless you equip him with a larger blaster he doesn't really need them. The joints all work as they should, with a neat piece of engineering with the shoulder armour that withdraws into the chest armour when the arms are raised. There is also no sign of loose ankle rockers - an issue the older bodies did suffer with. As a Jet Trooper, you would want some flying pose options, which will require an aftermarket stand and sadly the feet don't pivot down as we might see when a Trooper is flying so he will look quite flat-footed in any flight pose. While he is not canon as such, the Clone Jet Trooper is close enough to what we see in Revenge of the Sith and The Clone Wars to hold the interest of more specific collectors of that era. I am not sure why the decision to revert to the older body was made, but it certainly doesn't do the figure a lot of harm and the adjustments for the newer head and the repurposed Jet Pack are integrated well. There is not much to criticise here, other than the exclusivity which will work against collectors - particularly in the US where Gamestop are being relied on to deliver the item. We can also expect further variants using this base as there was a Phase 1 Clone Jet Trooper in the game with black armour markings, and the original game contents included a Phase 2 Je Trooper with Red Armour which looked great - but was never realised into the game. The NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles release of the Fugitoid from the original Mirage Comics has been confirmed as an exclusive. It will be sold in the US via Target and elsewhere globally via the new Haulathon initiative - pre-orders are live as of Friday the 18th of March 2022. The figure will have a standard version and a $100 chase version containing Kevin Eastman's signature.
