As shown last week in the Marvel Must Haves cover page montage, we now have official confirmation for the Marvel Legends Mr. Knight figure from Moon Knight, Disney+. Mr. Knight will come with the twin batons and alternative hands, and will also be part of the Infinity Ultron wave. We now know four of the seven slots with Hawkeye, Kate Bishop, Moon Knight and Mr. Knight. Both Moon Knight and Mr. Knight will open for pre-orders as of the 12th of April 2022. We expect them to be released around March 2023. April the 6th saw the Hasbro Star Wars team take to the Live Streams for another Fan First event and with this came a number of new Star Wars Black Series reveals The Black Series news started with the full reveal of the Saw Gerrera figure, as announced as a pipeline figure some time ago. Saw is based on his Rogue One appearance and is a Deluxe release complete with his staff and breathing apparatus and tubing. Saw Gerrera will sit in the Rogue One Galaxy Collection and is numbered 10. He is a Winter 2022 release with pre-orders open from the 7th of April. STAR WARS: THE BLACK SERIES 6-INCH SAW GERRERA (HASBRO/Ages 4 years & up/Approx. D'Spayre is one of the Fear Lords, introduced in 1978, and is the second of the two comic book characters included in the wider Doctor Strange wave ahead of the MCU release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. D'Spayre arrives in the standard Marvel Legends packaging, and like Sleepwalker carries the Marvel logo at the front of the window, with a purple hue comic book illustration used on the two side panels and on the rear of the box. The purple theme also continues into the backing card with a purple mist-like backdrop. Alongside the imposing rear artwork is some background text for D'Spayre just above the checklist for the waves build-a-figure, Rintrah from the Multiverse of Madness. "The embodiment of the ultimate evil, D'Spayre uses the fear of others to strengthen himself." D'Spayre arrives with his cloak detached in the packaging and you will need to pop off his head to sit it into place to finalise the overall figure look. D'Spayre is created on a generic Marvel Legends buck and is cast almost entirely in black plastic. The hands are the only alternative painted part with white used on the forearm with a wispy transition to black just before the elbow. The hands themselves are cast in white. There are some variances in coloured base plastic on the figure - most notably the black of the upper thighs a shade different to the lower legs. The head sculpt is most impressive with a melting skull finish onto a bald, black, head. The eyes are picked out with a touch of red adding some menace to the overall monochrome look. The cloak is ragged and tattered and with a high collar that frames the head. It is two-tone so white on one side and black on the other - and again the white element is a different shade from the white tone on the skull and the hands. D'Spayre arrives with a pair of clenched fists, and these can be swapped out for what feels like a much more appropriate set of reaching clawed hands. These are the only accessories and that perhaps feels like a missed opportunity for some translucent smoke effects or even a second head with the melted skull mouth open. Articulation weighs in with 23 points overall including double joint knees and elbows, a torso joint, alongside waist, bicep, thigh and bootcut swivels as well as butterfly joints at the shoulders. The cloak does restrict some movement but remains light enough so never to overbalance D'Spayre in any poses. I particularly like the combination of the torso joints to have D'Spayre hunched over and approaching his victim with the clawed hands outstretched. It is worth noting the waist is quite loose although that has little impact on any of the posing options. Like Sleepwalker, Hasbro's Marvel Legends team have gone deep into the Comic Universe for D'Spayre and realised him in figure form by way of body re-use enhanced with the dedicated head sculpt and added parts like the hands and cloak. Like Shriek, from the last Spider-Man wave, D'Spayre employs the monochrome paint job to good effect although I would have liked some better plastic colour matching at the hips and a brighter white on the cape. He is a menacing figure when posed on display and a great addition to a comic book collection - particularly focused on the more mystic aspects of the Marvel Universe. He will be a Spring 2023 release and comes with three of the Model Nodes instruments. The Star Wars team alluded to a future box set of the Model Nodes including Figrin D'an, but this is the only time the character will appear carded. April the 6th saw the Hasbro Star Wars team take to the Live Streams for another Fan First event and with a number of new Star Wars reveals to show us. We will update this story as more information is received and as the press release and photo galleries are received from Hasbro & their PR team. Black Series The Black Series news started with the Saw Gerrara figure as announced as a pipeline figure some time ago. Saw is based on his Rogue One appearance and is a Deluxe release complete with his staff and breathing apparatus and tubing. Saw Gerrara will sit in the Rogue One Galaxy Collection and is numbered 10. He is a Winter 2022 release with pre-orders open from the 7th of April. The Gaming Greats line continues with another Delta Squad release RC-1207 'Sev' from Republic Commando. He has an individual rifle with a sniper configuration and is number 11 in the Gaming Greats line and exclusive to Gamestop in the US and Zavvi in the UK. The Publishing Programme line will have a release of Return of the Jedi: Infinities Darth Vader in the White Armour and Cloak as seen when Vader was redeemed and returned to the Jedi Order. He will be packed in the closed book style box with an opening front flap that features the comic book art from the Dark Horse series. In the same line is a Publishing Edition Princess Leia Organa as taken from the Marvel Princess Leia comic series. She features a new hairpiece, cloak, holster, blaster rifle and pistol. The artwork comes from the Princess Leia early issues of the Marvel series. The third Publishing Edition release is Sergeant Kreel from the Marvel Comics Star Wars series. He features an updated torso for a Stormtrooper body as well as new accessories, straps, and holsters. He features a blaster and lightsaber. All of the Publishing Edition figures are Fan Channel releases coming Spring 2023. The final Black Series reveal was a Premium Role Play X-Wing helmet of Trapper Wolfe (Dave Filoni) from The Mandalorian. It uses the base X-Wing helmet with updated Deco and decals and it features voice FX of Trapper Wolf from Season 1 and 2 as well as the other blaster FX sounds. This is also a Fan Channel shared release for Spring 2023. The Black Series pipeline reveals will see Grogu and a Season 1 Migs Mayfeld. We would assume Grogu is a build-up pack of sorts with one of his prams and possibly other added value like the Seeing Stone (this is speculation in terms of how they can make Grogu a standard release). The Vintage Collection The new 3.75-inch figure of Figrin D'an had been previewed the evening before the Live Stream through some of the Fan Sites. He will be a Spring 2023 release and comes with three of the Model Nodes instruments. The Star Wars team alluded to a future box set of the Model Nodes including Figrin D'an, but this is the only time the character will appear carded. The Gaming Greats line is also now established in the Vintage Collection and today we had the reveal of Shae Vizla from the Old Republic Video Game. The updated figure now features photo-real deco. And joining the series is a new Battlefront 2 release of Lando Calrissian based on the unlockable skin from Battefront's Solo updates. The team have used the photo-real deco to apply the shirt design for a new degree of accuracy to these patterned costumes. Lando's cape is soft goods with a two-tone finish. These Gaming Greats Vintage Collection releases are Autumn 2022 releases and shared across the Fan Channel retailers in the US and globally. The reveals then moved to The Clone Wars and specifically the 501st with the reveal of ARC Trooper Jessie. This is a re-release of the figure from the exclusive ARC Trooper 3-pack, now concluding all three figures onto their own individual card backs. From Season 7 of The Clone Wars comes the Deathwatch Airborne Trooper, complete with jet pack and twin blasters. And the final main-line reveal from The Clone Wars, taken from Season 5, is the Super Commando Captain as seen in the capture of Duchess Satine. He too comes with a jet pack and twin blasters. The three Clone Wars main-line releases are general releases and will arrive in Spring 2023. The final Vintage Collection reveal will be a Troop Builder Pack of Imperial Death Troopers as seen in the likes of Rebels, Rogue One, and The Mandalorian. The Troopers feature a Captain with Pauldron and three basic Troopers. The set includes six weapons to share across the squad. As a Troop Builder, this is a boxed release for Autumn 2022 sold via Hasbro Pulse in the US, Canada, UK and now in Germany. The final 3.75-inch news was the prototype Retro carded Chewbacca which is packed in six different variants with the Bowcaster also varied in its base colour. After a couple of teaser images, NECA have now unveiled their largest release to date in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon series line, a 7-inch scaled Turtle Van! The Turtle Van measures 14 inches long, 12 inches tall, and 8 inches wide, and it can accommodate all four of the NECA 7 inch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It will feature a number of moving parts and features including opening doors, roof cannon, an opening shelf roof, and a removable laser chair. Following on from the preview image in Mid-March, Tamashii Nations have posted the first images of their S.H. Figuarts 6 inch figure of The Batman. The release will feature a masked head as well as an unmasked Robert Pattinson portrait. Alternative parts also include a swap-out chest panel, batarangs, grappling guns, handcuffs, and a number of different hand options. The Batman from S.H. Figuarts is listed as an August 2022 release. Sleepwalker, as introduced by Marvel Comics in 1991's Sleepwalker #1, is a brand new character in the Marvel Legends 6-inch action figure series - joining the line in 2022 as one of two Comic book based figures in the Doctor Strange Wave aligned ahead of the release of the Cinematic release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While Sleepwalker is part of the overall Dr. Strange MCU wave, he retains his own design within the packaging using the main Marvel logo at the base of the window and comic book-inspired artwork on the two side panels and around the back of the box. Here we also find the checklist for the waves Build-a-figure - Rintrah also from the MCU Multiverse of Madness - and a very short piece of background text. "The Sleepwalker is the guardian of the Mindscape, apprehending beings that invade the sleeping minds of humans." Sleepwalker utilises the Bucky Cap Marvel Legends body cast in deep blue for the most part, but with the green skin tone right arm. New boots and gloves are included with a wrapped bandage almost mummylike quality in a rich purple colour to complement the blue. These wrappings also extend to the belt and a tattered wrap around the right thigh. The head is a new sculpt and is a good match to the Sleepwalker as we see on the page with an inhuman, almost alien, face with stretched cheekbones and downturned mouth. Into this are painted intense red eyes with the head peeking out from beneath a purple hood. The hood and attached purple tattered cloak are re-used from the recent Hobgoblin release. Aside from the Rintrah BAF leg, the only other included parts with Sleepwalker are an alternative pair of hands. These are cast in the same purple tone as the other parts of his outfit and allow you to display Sleepwalker with the clenched fists as fitted on arrival, or an alternative pair of open gesturing hands. The Bucky Cap mold has been in play for a number of years now and still offers a strong level of articulation with 21 points of articulation. The joints include double joint knees and elbows as well as a t-joint torso and swivel waist. You also get a bootcut swivel as an extra to the usual options thanks to the new boots fitted to the Bucky Cap body. The head is jointed at the neck as usual and the hood of the cloak is an individual piece that moves with the head rather than sitting as a static piece and restricting any meaningful head motion. As an older body, The Sleepwalker still has visible pinned joints, and the newer plastic feels a bit softer at the knees and elbows in particular although every joint still feels secure, holds its position, and allows the figure to stand and pose without concern. Sleepwalker is another example of a very niche character plucked from the comic books by the Marvel Legends team and realised into figure form. As a comic book release, he is pretty faithful to the source material while re-using a lot of parts to reduce overall tooling costs. The colour scheme is bright and crisp and utilises the sculpt of the body to create the variation in shade rather than any complex paintwork. Well done Hasbro, a really impressive figure and I for one enjoyed posing him and going out and finding out more about the character.
