Over the course of April, NECA have been running 'April Takeover' a series of teasers and images for their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle line, and particularly everyone's favourite Channel 6 news reported April O'Neil. The cumulation of the April Takeover event was the reveal of the 100th Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle figure from the Animated Series - a brand new April in her iconic yellow jumpsuit. The set will include three head options for April as well as a raft of accessories including TV Camera, plant, mini Sewer Monster, book photo frame and more! As yet we only have this image from the announcement video and await more details from NECA on the release date and if this will go through Target in the US as an exclusive like the other TMNT animated series figures. Actor Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (Carson Teva, The Mandalorian) welcomed Jazwares to his YouTube channel this week for an exclusive product reveal. The Senior Product Manager Maxwell Lux joined Paul to formally reveal The Mandalorian's N-1 Starfighter into the Micro Galaxy Squadron line. The ship had previously been teased on an overhead shot of all the releases to date at Star Wars Celebration - but it is now fully confirmed and on the way! Race through Beggar's Canyon with the STAR WARS Micro Galaxy Squadron The Mandalorian's N-1 Starfighter. Featuring incredible details and authentic scaling, this 5-inch vehicle is based on the NABOO fighter that Din Djarin rebuilt to replace the RAZOR CREST. Fly at full throttle with an opening cockpit, retractable landing gear, and Grogu, attached inside the bubble canopy. Vehicle also includes articulated 1-inch Din Djarin (Beskar) micro figure accessory, compatible with any STAR WARS Micro Galaxy Squadron craft. Collect The Mandalorian's N-1 Starfighter and pilot something wizard. Officially licensed STAR WARS product from Jazwares. Ages 8+ The ship will feature a Mini-Figure of Din Djarin. Grogu was too small to replicate in this format, so is instead sculpted into the ship in his droid slot pod. While this N-1 is a general release, it was discussed on the video that Jazwares are exploring a variant with R5-D4 in the droid slot. Due to the length of the ship, the tail of the starfighter will be separated in the box and has to be connected to the main ship once open. The brief packaging shots seemed to list this as part of Series 4 and is already listed on Amazon US with a November 2023 release date. The N-1 is not an Amazon Exclusive as such and will be a General release, but it seems Amazon have cut some kind of deal for early access pre-orders for many of the Series 4 releases. "I'm here to win, and walk away" The Cassian Andor figure in his Imperial Gear from the Aldhani heist was released in the Star Wars Black Series in early 2023 as part of a quarter of store exclusives to launch the Andor figure series in the Galaxy Collection. The Aldhani mission Andor is number #01 in this new addition to the wider Galaxy Collection and is exclusive to Walmart in the US, while getting a wider release via the Fan Channel here in the Uk - most notably arriving as part of the large stock dump in Game stores at prices well under the RRP. The Andor figures will use an orange theme on the black boxes, and these first four figures escape the plastic-free packaging arriving in the standard window boxes. The side art for this figure kicks off the linked montage of artwork leading into the Imperial Officer (Dark Times) who was also a Walmart exclusive. The figure doesn’t immediately appear to have any direct re-used parts despite the commonality of Imperial uniform and armour that has been seen on other figures including the Mud Troopers and the original General Veers. The execution of this Imperial Uniform is acceptable in terms of component parts, but the colouring looks all wrong considering what we saw on screen. The deep Olive Green uniform worn on set is depicted here as a much lighter green that then contrasts too much with the added black armour. The figure has also been given some odd weathering around the feet which looks more like sand that again doesn't quite line up with the rural setting of the Aldhani base. Detailing is applied to parts of the main chest armour including silver on the strap clasps and red & white on some indicator lights towards the base. The only other direct paint application is then on Cassian’s belt and buckles. What the body does do is establish some further Imperial parts for future use and indeed many of the Cassian parts on this figure are used on the Ferrix Imperial Officer. The likeness to Diego Luna is OK and is a good match to his onscreen look with the five-o-clock shadow beard and longer hair that peeks out at the back of the Imperial Cap. The face print tech is applied to help add realism to the facial hair as well as the eyes, but the final output continues to be too glossy and reflective. The Imperial Cap is not removable and is coloured in the same lighter green as the uniform with a central silver emblem. The body is entirely pinless and has the usual level of articulation with single joints at the knees and elbows.Everything works as it should with no obvious loose joints nor any area that is blocked or held back by the uniform or armour - the shoulders in particular look like they may be an issue, but the armoured piece slides neatly under the chest armour as the arms are raised. The sole accessory is a single blaster - an SE-14r repeating blaster - which I assume is the one the Cassian wears in his holster. This is a softer sculpt and has no paint apps. It fits well enough in the right hand and also is secure when stowed in the holster. The big issue here is the lack of the E-10 blaster rifle that is more prominent in the Aldhani scenes. It is difficult to get excited over this particular Andor figure especially when much of it is not accurate to the scenes it is meant to be part of. The paint apps are too light, the weathering not accurate to the type of planet that Aldhani is meant to be, and the accessories not consistent with the onscreen scenes. I suspect the figure may be based on earlier concept details - an issue that does plague the Marvel Legends line - which is a shame considering what the figure could have been. I am sure the base figure and parts will go on for re-use in future figures, perhaps even other members of the Aldhani heist and if that is the case I do hope Hasbro do update the decor and accessories as a minimum to be more screen accurate. The second wave of Super7's Star Trek Ultimates has been unveiled and brings us three new characters from The Next Generation. Joining the wave 1 Starfleet figures of Data, and Riker is a TNG Captain Picard in Uniform and a Lieutenant Worf. The third figure is Guinan who is repacked from Wave 1 into Wave 2. It is the final week of Mando Mania and this week's Black Series offering is the Mandalorian Fleet Commander as seen in the final two episodes of Season 3 of The Mandalorian. The figure features a removable helmet and a Westar 35 blaster. The figure is live for pre-order as of the 26th of April and is likely to be an early 2024 general release alongside the other Mando Mania reveals like the Tusken Chieftain, Pyke Soldier, and R5-D4. A new Marvel Legends Deluxe Joe Fixit figure has been revealed by CB.com. The figure re-uses the existing build-a-figure sculpt, but with updated decor and colouring. This new Joe Fixit release will feature the original BAF hatted head, and a 2nd new alternative smiling head without the hat. The figure also sports a new 2nd pair of gripping hands and a Tommy-Gun accessory. As we approach the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 the Tamashii Nations team have revealed two new 6-inch movie figures in the S.H. Figuarts series from the movie. This is a 2-pack release including Star-Lord and Rocket from Vol. 3, each in their new comic-inspired blue Guardians uniforms. The promo images show that each character will come with a pair of blasters, with alternative hands also included. It seems like the Marvel Legends release, Star-Lord won't come with his helmet. The set is down as a September 2023 release. The NECA Video Game variant of Goliath from Disney's Gargoyles has been fully revealed and has opened for pre-order with a May 2023 release date. First seen on the Christmas 'checklist' posters from NECA, this variant of Goliath is based on his appearance in the 1995 Disney Software video game and is even packed in the style of the original Sega Megadrive (Genesis for our US friends) box. The set will come with the same articulated wings as the original that stretch out to a 16-inch wingspan. The pack also includes a second pair of wings folded into a cloak as well as an altenative head. Gargoyles rule the night! Arguably the best gothic cartoon of the 1990s, Gargoyles followed an ancient clan of gargoyles transported to modern-day Manhattan when their Scottish castle is relocated. This Ultimate Goliath action figure features special deco that's a tribute to the classic 1990s video game and comes in packaging styled like the original game box! Goliath stands approximately 8" tall, with a wingspan of 16 inches. The figure features full articulation, including on wings and tail, and comes with closed wings and interchangeable head and hands. Medicom have put two new MAFEX Star Wars 1/12 releases up for pre-order. One is a tweaked re-release, the other a brand-new figure. The new release is Ahsoka Tano, as seen in her live-action appearance in Season 2 of The Mandalorian. Ahsoka will feature two head options, alternative hands, her twin lightsabers, and a soft goods cloak. She is due for release in April 2024. She is joined by a revised version of Darth Vader. This is an updated Rogue One Vader (version 1.5) and it includes three lightsabers - one as a hilt, one with a standard blade, and a third with a motion FX blade. You wait all this time for a 6-inch Indiana Jones collector's figure, and then two come along at once? Almost directly after the release of the launch wave for Hasbro’s Indiana Jones Adventure Series has hit store shelves, the first exclusive figure is also upon us. This one is the first to be taken from The Temple of Doom and features Indy in his Tuxedo from the Club Obi-Wan sequence at the start of the movie. The packaging remains identical to the main releases, with the only indication of this being an exclusive stand-alone release seen on the left-hand spine where there is no reference to the ‘build-an-articact’ as seen on the standard releases. Club Obi-Wan Indy is a Target exclusive in the US while having a wider release via the Fan Channel retailers here in the UK. Like all the figures to date, Club Obi-Wan Indy is a plastic-free closed box, and inside we have a cardboard tray that holds Indy and his accessories in place - each being bagged in a waxy paper bag printed with the Indiana Jones map design. Be VERY careful opening the small bag as this Indy comes with two tiny accessories that will be easily lost if you don't control them. This version of Indy uses a different head sculpt to the Raiders Indy from the main wave and features a Harrison Ford likeness that is clean-shaven and with well-groomed hair. The head will likely go on for re-use most notably it looks like in the upcoming Professor Indiana Jones figure from The Last Crusade. The face print tech here enhances what is a good sculpt to a much stronger-looking figure and it thankfully lacks some of the waxy finish we have seen on other figures so far. I cannot see any obvious re-use in the suited body - not even from other lines that have suited bodies available. The shirt is part of the actual torso and over this, the black waistcoat is added as a rubber sleeve, with a second sleeve then included for the white dinner jacket. Paint apps on these are minimum, relying on the base colour of the plastic. We do get a spot of black on the one visible button of the shirt, a red on the carnation on Indy’s lapel, and some white to the pocket handkerchief and sleeves of the shirt as they peek out from under the jacket. The entire lower body is cast in black to reflect the trousers and Indy’s shoes. The finish here is very glossy and a more matt finish approach may have looked more realistic. The neck is an individual piece and the shirt collar and bow tie are part of this sculpted piece. It seems the neckpiece is cast in a flesh tone with the shirt painted white and the tie black - this does mean the finish is messier than other parts of the outfit and the white is not as bright as the shirt underneath. The neck also has two further issues, the first being it is too small so Indy looks a bit odd this issue is further impacted by using two rubber sleeve pieces over the torso which raise up the shoulders too far - you can stretch this out a little using the play in the joint - but the look still is not perfect. The other issue is the lower joint of the neck is visible in places under the tie leaving a clear gap between the shirt collar and the shirt from certain angles. Club Obi-Wan Indy has 19 points of articulation and benefits from the addition of butterfly joints at the shoulders. All the joints are pinless and are sculpted to work with the body and to try and be more inconspicuous when you are posing your figure. Everything works OK, but the figure feels a bit clunky when you are trying to replicate some more action-orientated poses. Even with the butterfly shoulders, the arms struggle to get into position to wield some of the makeshift weapons included in the accessory bundle and with only a limited waist joint to play with Indy just looks and feels a bit ‘stiff’ when being posed outside of anything neutral. Hasbro have again not scrimped on the included accessories - and while you don't get a whip or a revolver, Indy is able to fight off Lao Che’s henchmen either using the double sword or the skewer - complete with flaming pieces of poultry. Like other accessories to date, the sword is very much a plastic finish and lacks any real definition or metallic sheen. The skewer is much better and the flame effects are OK, but with no alternative hands on this Indy it is a bit too slim to fit securely into a throwing position. The other accessories are much smaller starting with the remains of Emperor Nurhachi in the funeral urn which is pretty impressively detailed considering the scale and even includes the translucent jade base. You also get a tiny vial of antidote as well as the Peacock’s eye diamond. Each of these will fit into the hands included with the figure to some degree, but the vial, in particular, doesn’t sit too securely so you will need to be careful in terms of having these items on display. Hasbro might have wanted to consider sculpting the jewel and/or vial into a hand that can be swapped in and out - that certainly worked well for Diamond and their Gollum figure with the Ring of Power. While it seems odd having this version of Indiana Jones lead off the Temple of Doom line at the same time the rest of the releases focus on Raiders of the Lost Ark, this is a very different look for Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones and is executed reasonably well with the exception of that neck and the lack of additional hands more specifically engineered for the included parts. As the Adventure Series commences the world-building elements, the success of figures like this Indiana Jones will rely in part on the other characters from the scene to flesh out a display and while Short Round is on the way - a nightclub Willie Scott is a must to display with this Indy. The exclusivity of this one may be an issue, more so in the US considering what I hear about both Target and Walmart and their exclusives, so my advice would be to grab it if you see it - it will likely hold its value or potentially increase as the line develops. McFarlane have shared a preview image for their next set of Page Punchers 7-inch scale figures. The set appears to be another quartet and is based on the Batman: Fighting the Frozen comic. In the preview image, we can see Barbarian/Viking-inspired versions of Batman, Batwoman, and Robin. They are all overshadowed by what appears to be a new Mr. Freeze.
