The Hasbro Team is attending Wondercon 2024 on Saturday the 30th of March and are hosting a combined panel covering a number of their key licenses. News & Reveals are incoming at the event with reveals listed for Ghostbusters, Transformers Studio Series, and G.I. Joe. There will also be 'updates' for Star Wars although not necessarily showing off anything new if the official blurb (see below) is any indication. Marvel and specifically the Legends line is also listed under the updates section, but the Marvel Legends team have confirmed in social media posts that there will be some new reveals. Hasbro hosts an action-packed toy panel with brand marketing team members revealing exciting new products, giving fans a first look across its iconic action brands. The panel will include select product reveals from Ghostbusters entertainment, celebrate the 40th anniversary of Transformers with new Studio Series figures, and announce new Cobra team members joining the G.I. JOE Classified Series line. In addition, the panel will bring updates on the Hasbro lines inspired by Star Wars, including The Black Series and The Vintage Collection, and Marvel, including exciting news about the Marvel Legends product line. A new NECA Predator release from the movie Prey has been spotted on eBay and in hand through a handful of collectors on social media. The Ultimate Bear Blood Feral Predator is a partially translucent version of the Feral Predator with the 'bear blood' decor covering its head, and upper body as per the scene in the movie, It is understood this is a Target exclusive in the US and part of the Target Haulathon event, the item should not be on Target shelves until this point. Revealed on Screenrant are a pair of new Marvel Legends releases tied into the Deadpool movie franchise as he prepares to make his MCU debut. These are Legacy releases so are repacked figures in updated packaging. We have the original MCU Deadpool - as first released in 2018 - complete with alternative hands, his twin katanas, a knife, and his Unicorn. The figure also features a minor upgrade from the original release with the more accurate handguns now included as working accessories and not glued into the holster. Wolverine was also originally released in 2018 under the X-Men banner, and this is a repack of that original release but now tied into Deadpool courtesy of the post-credits scene in Deadpool 2. Logan comes with two heads, the neutral version from the 2018 release and the shouting head which actually originated with the X-Men Wolverine in Jacket from the same batch of Fox X-Men releases. There are also alternative hands with a pair of clenched fists and a set of extended metal claws. The original release also featured bone claws - these are not included this time around. McFarlane's Movie Maniacs series continues to expand and is adding the 1976 classic Rocky to its stable of movies. The first figures from this newly added property have been revealed as Rocky Balboa and Apollo Creed from the first Rocky movie. These are posed figures and not articulated as such. Both boxers feature alternative heads allowing you to display them with standard, or fight damaged heads. The Rocky figures will be presented on plinth stands with a design based on the Heavyweight Title Belt from the Rocky series. Also included in each pack is a cardboard backing piece, art-card, and card display stand. McFarlane also lists a secret bonus item with each set. "A Jedi's goal is to defend life, not take it." The Obi-Wan Kenobi Black Series release, based on his outfit worn on Jabiim during the events of the Disney+ series, was released in 2023 and was the third of what would be four Kenobi figures from the show. Jabiim Kenobi was a general release and packed into Wave 11 of the Galaxy Collection, a mixed wave that also included Tala and the 4th Sister from the show as well as Vel Sertha from Andor, and the Gaming Greats releases of Darth Malek and Bastilla Shan. The Wave was released during the plastic-free packaging era so the box does not feature a window and the figure and character are illustrated both via artwork and promotional shots of the figure itself. Obi-Wan Kenobi from Jabiim is number 11 in the Kenobi Galaxy Series following on from the Deluxe NED-B figure and preceding the 4th Sister from the same wave. The Kenobi series essentially saw four key costumes for Obi-Wan - excluding any disguises - and of the four, there were two distinct styles that only really differentiated between each pairing in colour scheme. The first two releases from Kenobi were the earlier outfits in blue for Tibidon Station, and in the Wandering Jedi brown tones as he started his journey in the show. Jabiim Kenobi sees the outfit transition more from simple Desert Dweller to a look more aligned to the Jedi Order and similar in style to Obi-Wan's clothing from the Prequel series, at least in the tunic. The figure is reused with updated legs and some colour alternations for the fourth release titled ‘Jedi Legend’. The figure is made up of an earth brown tunic with a white undershirt and brown belt complete with holster. The legs are the same as the first two Kenobi releases with dark brown trousers, lighter brown boots and a sandy-coloured wrap where the two meet. Each part is cast in the base colour with no extensive paint apps other than the belt, undershirt, and boots. Despite the state of Obi-Wan in the show by this point, there is no additional weathering or washes. The head itself is new compared to the earlier 2022 release and is one of the best Ewan McGregor likenesses to date in the line complete with facial printing. I am less convinced about the colouring choice for the hair and beard with both sitting a few shades too light for the onscreen appearance. The robes over the top of the outfit are soft goods and use the very soft brown fabric seen on most Jedi. This hangs well enough but sits very stiff and flat and fails to replicate the heavy folds of a true Jedi robe. The hood is stitched so to sit over the head of the figure, but it still doesn’t quite sit naturally. The soft goods are removable easily enough and in a case of very much less is more, removing the sleeveless robe does enhance the look and feel of the figure. Obi-Wan features a blaster, the same one he uses throughout the series while he rediscovers his link to the Force. This is reasonably well-detailed, and coloured in a bronze finish. It fits into Kenobi’s right hand where we have a flexible trigger finger. And when not in use it can be holstered away. We also get Kenobi’s lightsaber with the usual removable translucent blue blade. The hilt is crisp in its detailing with silver, black and gold decor on the shaft. It also features a discreet plug that will slip into a corresponding socket around the back of Kenobi’s belt. We only get a single pair of hands with the figure and while they can hold both weapons, there is an odd look to the right hand when holding the lightsaber with the trigger finger pointing outward. We really need to start seeing a more aligned lightsaber-gripping hand on our Jedi characters, and where they use dual weapons and then give us dual hands. Obi-Wan is also known for his hand gestures when using the Force, and the figure fails to replicate any of these with two basic gripping hands all we have to work with. Articulation is entirely pinless, with 19 points of articulation. These include, as far as I can make out, butterfly shoulders but the shape of the upper tunic doesn’t give these joints much scope for bringing the arms in for two-handed saber posing. Everything else works well enough and Kenobi has plenty of display options while holding most poses and having no stability issues. I now have all four of the Obi-Wan figures from Kenobi, and each of them brings something to the display. This one is probably my favourite - once the soft goods are removed - as it presents Obi-Wan as a Jedi, but in a darker and grittier look than we perhaps saw him during the time of the Clone Wars. While the ‘Jedi Legend’ release takes the outfit one step further, that version is perhaps too light, clean, and tidy. “I left Kamino with you. This is where I wanna be” Omega was the last of the main Bad Batch crew members to be released in the Star Wars Black Series arriving well after the main quartet of Hunter, Wrecker, Tech and Crosshairs and even landing after more secondary characters like Vice Admiral Rampart and the Clone Shocktrooper. Omega is number 10 in The Bad Batch Galaxy Collection, sitting between Imperial Armour Crosshair and Echo. She is packed in a window box with the deep red accent colour for Bad Batch across the front and rear text and the side artwork. Omega is a new figure entirely and the first ‘child’ of the series, and one of only a handful of smaller stature characters alongside the likes of Yoda, Kuill, and the Jawa’s. She is wearing her uniform for Kamino with a white and blue tunic, with blue arms trimmed at the top and cuff in red. The tunic features a dark blue belt section and a softer plastic skirt piece. Beneath this are brown legs and a darker brown pair of boots. The head sculpt is reflective of a Season 1 Omega, but translated from animation to a live-action setting as is standard for Black Series releases from this medium. The conversion is OK but is relatively generic and lacks any of the features we might expect to see in a female child who is a clone of a Temura Morrison Jango Fett. Facial printing adds realism to the eyes, but not much more detail, and the skin finish is very glossy a problem on many figures of the 2021/2022 era of releases. Omega features her silver pendant headpiece which is well painted as is the hair which is part of the overall head sculpt - predating the use of individual hair pieces. Omega features 17 points of articulation with single joints across elbows and knees, and ball joints within the shoulder and hips. She features the newer two-part neck which both aids articulation and improves the looks without the need for a visible peg. She is relatively wide-ranging in posing options although her smaller stature does present some issues when we bring in the accessories. The main accessory is her Energy Bow and this is made up of a large gold and black bow section with a front cover piece that clips in place. Inserted into the bow is a translucent pink ‘string’ and ‘arrow’ ready for the weapon to fire. The weapon is very large in comparison to Omega - standing almost as tall as she is - and this makes posing her with the weapon difficult, particularly when the sculpt of the weapon means it has to be used in a drawn and ready-to-fire position. More impressive is her breather mask, a grey piece with white and silver detailing and engineered to sit over the mouth of Omega and hold in position using the shape alone rather than any clips, straps or visible connections. The release is then rounded out with the inclusion of Ruby the Lizard as seen in just two episodes of Season 1. Ruby is non-articulated and cast in two parts that are then fixed together. The front half is blue on top and green underneath with painted eyes and snout. The rear section is all green. The creature features a sculpted overlapping carapace but some softer shaping of the legs and feet which lack definition. Omega from Season 1 of the Bad Batch is a figure that ticks a box and fills in a team from that first Season without being in any way spectacular. We get a figure that represents her Kaminoan uniform and a head sculpt that is recognisable as Omega without being as good a conversion from animation to live action as say Tech or Echo. Accessories are bundled in to fill the packaging and while the face mask works well, the bow has limited display options and Ruby is an odd choice considering her limited time on the show. While other Bad Batch releases have sold out and rocketed in price on the secondary market, Omega has done the opposite and I’ve seen her as low as £5 in stores. Certainly worth picking up anywhere near that price, and the Season 1 body does present an opportunity for some kit bashing when you get the Season 2 'Mercenary' version.
