NECA has announced that their 7-inch scale Mirage Comics Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, previously available only in a 2023 Target exclusive four-pack, are getting single-boxed releases later this year. The figures are based on the Return to New York storyline and include the relevant weaponry and accessories for each turtle as well as alternative hands and additional mask tie. The new set of four are general releases and have an October 2024 release date. An Amazon listing has gone live for a new 2024 Halloween release in the Star Wars Black Series Holiday range of figures. This time round we have a repaint of the Grand Inquisitor figure, now depicted as a vampire. He comes with repurposed accessories including a shortened Ewok spear as a 'stake' and Luthen Rael's knife and sheath. He also comes with a repainted Mynock as an accompanying Vampire Bat. He is joined in the 2-pack by a repaint of the live Cad Bane, now named as a Duros Bounty Hunter, and with a paint job that pays homage to Frankenstein's Monster. He comes with the electro-staff from the Magna Guard figure and a repainted Babu Frik as Igor. “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee. My name's Steven with a "v." Once the 2022 Moon Knight series had aired, it was clear that Marvel Legends figures would follow and we didn’t have to wait long to get our hands on the 6-inch scale Moon Knight and Mr. Knight. They were released in 2022 as part of the first Disney+ wave of the year, featuring the Infinity Ultron BAF. The wave was one of the last to be in a window format in 2022 as the ultimately ill-fated move to plastic-free packaging began, and it featured the logo for Moon Knight on the box front along with side and rear artwork that aligned to the mystical nature of the show and its main characters. Mr. Knight is essentially a full new figure with Hasbro obviously avoiding the temptation to use the significantly overused suited body to create Steven Grant’s alter-ego. Instead, we get a suited figure built from the ground up as seen in the Mr. Knight scenes with a pair of ‘bandaged’ shoes, a simple pair of white trousers, and then a complex combination of Jacket, Waistcoat, Shirt and tie all with sculpted Egyptian winged detail around the lapels. Paintwork on first glance appear limited to just the silver buttons of the waistcoat, although there is variation in the white tones uses with some cream creeping in to the lapels to vary the figure's look overall. There is re-use in the arms which are pinned and part of that suited body sculpt, and we have a touch more paintwork here with the sleeve buttons also picked out in silver. Mr. Knight has a single masked head which is cast in white with detailing that replicates a cloth mask pulled tight over a human face with the nose cheeks and mouth visible under the mask itself. The eyes are painted in an icy blue, while the forehead carries a sculpted Moon Knight crescent moon symbol. Mr. Knight features two pairs of hands, a clenched pair of fists for hand-to-hand fighting, and a pair of gripping hands. These gripped hands are designed to work with his batons which are two cylindrical rods in silver with gold tips at either end and sculpted hieroglyphs down the length of each of them. There is no holstering option for these, but they fit well into the gripping hands. Articulation is 18 points overall with no real obstructions caused by the costume. Mr. Knight has a number of posing options from neutral stances to more action-orientated poses with or without his weapons. There is a slight miss with not including butterfly shoulders under the coat, but their absence isn’t hugely noticeable. I did find Mr Knight a bit painful to pose stood upright as like the suited body, there is not quite enough forward play int he ankle rockets to plan the feet straight. Mr. Knight is a particularly faithful re-creation of what we saw during the events of Moon Knight with the jacket, waistcoat and tie detailing impressive considering the scale. Proportions are also good, as is the articulation without being spectacular considering we are missing a couple of more modern elements such as the butterfly shoulders. I do find personally the colouring a bit too stark white and compared to the onscreen look and the figure's early promo images, adding some definition to the white via shading would have been beneficial particularly when you consider how they executed the looks for Moon Knight himself and the later Khonshu release which were also (on paper) full white costumes. "Well, that was one hell of a reunion." Following her relatively key role in the events of Captain America: Civil War, Sharon Carter (Agent 13) re-emerged in the MCU during the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier - now a fugitive and working in Madripoor. The 2021 Disney+ series would be the catalyst for the first MCU Sharon Carter, a figure released in 2022 as part of the first of two Disney+ waves that year. Sharon was packed into the Infinity Ultron wave along with characters from She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and Hawkeye and arrived in a window box with The Falcon & the Winter Soldier theme with the series logo front and centre under the figure window. Sharon Carter is a new figure in the Marvel Legends line, but one that appears to have older roots as the overall design and pinned articulation dates it quite considerably versus other figures from the same wave. Had Sharon been reusing parts from say Jessica Jones or a Black Widow release, the aesthetics would make sense - but nothing on the Carter figure appears to be from any other earlier release. The outfit is essentially the one she is wearing when she helps Sam and Bucky as they explore Buccaneer Bay and also the outfit used on the character promo images. This is a pair of black trousers with boots in the same base colour. This runs up into a black best top with a belt and painted silver buckle. Over this is a green thigh-length coat with painted bronze buttons. Sharon’s hoodie can be seen layered under the coat, and this is done by way of a blue inner jacket that then projects up and over the shoulders as a folded-back hood. While proportionally the figure is a good match to the onscreen Sharon Carter, the execution of the outfit is quite glossy overall and the colours of the coat are a bit off. The headsculpt is a strong likeness to Emily VanCamp bolstered by photo-real facial printing. The hair is not quite as accurate and feels more generic than trying to replicate the onscreen colouring. It also sits oddly over the coat and hoodie, splaying out to the sides and back in a way that defies gravity. Despite the promo art showing Sharon often donning a hood, the release misses a trick by not including a second hooded head. We do get two accessories for Sharon, the first of which is a very oversized and bendy knife that sits in either of her gripping hands. It looks and feels like it belongs in another - much bigger - line and is almost comical in its proportions. There is thankfully a better option with Sharon’s baton, a silver cast piece with a painted grey/black grip. Again this can be wielded in either hand. Neither the knife or the baton have any holstering options. Articulation, as mentioned at the start, is pinned for the lower legs and comes in at a measly 16 points in total which is low for Legends. The legs have a decent level of movement, but do feel bow-legged and Sharon is a bit tricky to have standing straight. The arms are lacking with a single 90-degree elbow and standard shoulders that completely hold back her posing options with either the baton or the knife. We also only get a remedial torso joint and the neck is pretty much fixed in by the shaping of the hair. On display, and once posed and stable, the Marvel Legends Sharon Carter fulfils the role of a supporting character for the likes of Sam Wilson and Bucky as released in earlier Disney+ waves in 2021. This doesn’t excuse her limited articulation, limited paintwork, and limited accessories and I would love to understand the origins of this figure within the wider Marvel Legends line as parts of it certainly feel like a throw-back compared to the other newly developed figures of 2022. McFarlane has revealed preview images of two more Batman-inspired 7-inch scale DC Multiverse figures incoming later this Summer. Up first is Dick Grayson Batman as seen in Batman: Reborn. A number of the Marvel Legends Avengers 60th Anniversary releases are turning up at TK Maxx Stores in the UK at prices even lower than those offered by Game. In our local store we found the Mk1 Iron Man is priced at £10.99, while the Hawkeye and Sky Cycle was just £12.99.
