NECA has shared some pictures of a raft of new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle figures heading to Target stores in the US as part of a Cowabunga Corner in-store promotion. The releases were all shown at SDCC 2024 and include sets from the Archie Comics Series, Mirage Comics Series, and the Cartoon Series. From the TMNT Adventure Comics published by Archie are the Stump Wrestling 4-Pack and Stump Wrestling Leatherhead as well as a new Mondo Gecko. From the Mirage Comics comes Karai and the Rat King as single releases And from the 1990s Cartoon Series are the 2-Pack of Vacaction Bebop and Rocksteady, and a new Ultimate Slash figure These are not currently listed online and are available physically in stores. The McFarlane Spawn Kickstarter project for 2024 gets underway as of the 20th of August 2024 and includes options for three different Spawn figures. You can choose from the Blue Medieval Spawn, Black Medieval Spawn, or the Artists Proof unpainted Medieval Spawn. Each figure comes with a sword, a shield, and a collector card. Alongside these single releases are two Medieval Spawn Trilogy collector sets featuring all three figures. Buying the three packs will also get you a large sword accessory for Spawn. The first of these also includes a single Todd McFarlane signed plate, while the final set includes three Todd McFarlane signed plates - one for each figure. This final Premium Set is limited to 700 units. As with all Kickstarters, there are backing bonus targets with up to 14 further accessories for your Medieval Spawn on offer depending on how successful the program is. Target in the US has put up a new listing for a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles / Universal Monsters crossover box set. The new Marvel Legends 2-Pack of Doctor Strange and Wong - alongwith the Bats the dog - has gone live for pre-order on Amazon US with a November the 8th 2024 release date. McFarlane and Gamestop have revealed a new DC Multiverse 'Frostbite Edition' Deathstroke figure releasing in September 2024. Based on the DC Rebirth figure, this new Deathstroke variant is cast in translucent blue plastic and comes packed in an enclosed collector box. The set also includes a collector card and stands for both the figures and the card. The figure is a Gamestop US exclusive. “All I've ever wanted in this world is carnage.” Marvel Legends from Sony’s Spider-Verse movies have not been as extensive as some fans would have liked over the past few years and since Sony and Disney agreed on their deal to bring Spider-Man to the MCU. While the Spider-Verse animated movies have seen a steady stream of releases, the only live-action release to date has been a 2020 release of Venom from the 2018 movie. Since then Morbius has come and gone with no figures, as had - or so we thought - the Venom sequel, Let There Be Carnage. However, it was announced in 2024 that Hasbro was dipping its toe back into the live-action Sony movies and were releasing a Deluxe Legends of Carnage from the second Venom movie. Carnage is a single Deluxe release and not part of any wider series of figures, and it is not exclusive to any particular retailer. It is part of the changeover to the standard Hasbro Collector boxes with a square design - losing the scooped sides we have seen for the last 10 years or so. The box is predominantly black with the Venom: Let There Be Carnage logo on the front, just under the large window that wraps around the left-hand side. The right-hand side features character artwork, and the back of the box is almost entirely turned over to a second image of Carnage facing off against Venom. We no longer have any background text or movie synopsis. The box has been enlarged to accommodate Carnage as a deluxe figure, with the box an inch taller than usual, two inches wider, and about half an inch deeper. In the comic book releases, Carnage has always been a standard-size figur. However, this movie version follows the design of the movie, in which Carnage is depicted as being considerably taller than the Venom symbiote. This new Legends release stands about 8.5 inches tall from foot to toe and that is a good inch - or a head - taller than the corresponding Venom. Carnage proportionally remains thinner and quite wiry compared to the muscular Venom, with the figure height added in the elongated legs. The figure is cast in red plastic as a base, sculpted to incorporate all the horrific exposed sinew and tendons we see on Carnage when he is on screen. The red is overlaid with black to bring out the detail, and to darken the tone overall. This paintwork is impressive front on, but the rear of the figure and side aspects are more exposed as they are left in base red. Carnage comes with two heads, both using the same red plastic with white-painted reflective eyes that are then lined in black. One version is grinning with a closed mouth, the teeth painted in a bone white. The second head has the mouth open with Carnage’s pink tongue extended. The detail again is as we see on screen, converted into a 6-inch figure format and the paint work is neat enough although our figure has a couple of spots of red visible at the edges of the eyes where the white paint hasn’t reached far enough. While Venom only got a couple of standard hands, Carnage’s alternative handpieces make the most of replicating his use of his symbiote abilities to create weapons from his own body. The first of these is a hand that is partly changed into a bladed implement that extends out of the middle finger. We have the same base red plastic and black overlay and this hand is a replacement for Carnage’s standard right hand. The other piece is the more extensive scythe weapon that replaces the hand shape entirely. This can fit on either wrist and again uses the same red plastic and black paint to carry through the look of the figure into and across the weapon. Carnage’s look overall is complete with the inclusion of three plug-in tentacles that create five additional appendages for Carnage - two featuring two tentacles, and the final one just a single piece. These measure around 10 inches in length and add significant bulk to Carnage once plugged into place. Each of the five tentacle arms is a softer plastic cast over a metal armature, similar in design to the recent Doc Ock release. This means that they are articulated down their entire length and can be bent and molded to most positions. This sounds great on paper, but the reality is a little trickier particularly as the plastic itself puts up some resistance to the armature inside. With work, some impressive poses are achievable with each of the five arms ending in either a spiked weapon or a splayed hand of sorts. With a metal armature feature, you do have to accept with it some holes in the piece to allow the feature to work - and the arms will deteriorate over time - particularly if overworked. Carnage is a fully pinless body and has 19 points of traditional articulation if you exclude the additional wired pieces. The joints are tight and wide-ranging in their movement, with the only significant issue being with the ankle rockers which aren’t quite cut enough to lean Carnage forward to offset the weight plugged into his back. That can be worked around by using the symbiote tentacles as a point of balance, posing two of the five arms on the floor to hold Carnage in his posed position. When Venom was released in 2020 he was a standard Marvel Legends release equivalent to what would be today’s £24.99 price point. Carnage is coming in at least a tenner above that at £35 through most retailers with the additional value coming in the height, and the accessories, and he certainly doesn’t feel as though he is lacking any value for money. There are no significant flaws with the figure, and the only miss that I can think of is the lack of a Cletus Kasady partially absorbed face - but I appreciate how much cost that likeness would have added to the overall value. Carnage is no doubt an impressive centre piece for a Sony Spider-Verse collection, with our collections not having to stick to the crossover rules imposed by Sony allowing Carnage to sit proudly alongside the MCU Vulture and Mysterio, and side by side with the recent Doc Ock and Green Goblin figures. Carnage does have a considerable footprint when displayed with his tentacles, so does command quite a bit of shelf real estate for display. Thankfully he does display perfectly well with the tendrils removed which may benefit those with limited room. "And then there's that droid. Chopper or something? It's got lots of attitude for a machine." C1-OP or Chopper as we know him best, was first released in the Star Wars Black Series in 2019  completing the Rebels crew in the real-world Black Series setting. The figure would go on to be re-released again just a year later in 2020  as the Galaxy Collection was launched, part of an updated Rebels wave where each key character received a photo-realistic paint update - while Chopper was identical to the original release. Roll forward to 2023 and Chopper was back on our screens in the live-action Ahsoka series and was announced as part of the second full wave of Ahsoka figures. Bizarrely it was then confirmed that while Chopper was part of an Ahsoka-themed wave, he would still be badged as a Rebels release. And even more strangely the packaging and numbering would still be updated. The 2023 Chopper is, therefore, number 08 in the Rebels Galaxy Collection, and also features in the number 02 slot. The new Chopper packaging uses the same theme as the prior release but does include updated side art in the pink/purple hue assigned to Rebels.  The figure is constructed in a similar fashion to the other Astromechs we've seen to date, but he doesn't share any component parts. The central body is more squat and the orange dome wider. Across the main body are additional details and panels - including offset welded patched panels, but also missing panels with the gun metal internal components on show. Chopper’s worn and weathered features are beautiful captured on the figure with plenty of wash and weathering right across the body.  The dome includes the various photo-receptors picked out in grey and blue and the overhead antennae and transmitter dish which is fixed in place, but in a softer plastic to avoid breakages. vs 2019/2020 release as shown on the right of the images While this is on paper a re-release there are some paint variations to the previous two results that are more than factory variations. The stripe on the main body above the manipulator arm is now a deeper orange - on the prior releases it was yellow. The third of the dome sensors no longer has a silver painted rim. And around the back of the figure, the bottom right hexagon opening is now gunmetal silver, whereas the prior release left this in a plain grey. Chopper features his third travel wheel that slots into the socket under the main body for that particular configuration. The legs are articulated at the top and ‘ankle’ to support the various travel positions, with further articulation at the dome which can rotate 360 degrees. You can also extend the main manipulator arm outward from its slot on the main body. There are also two further armatures tucked neatly away in the dome and once hinged outward, they can unfold into the two side arms we see Chopper use as both tools and to express his feelings.  The added value doesn’t stop there as Chopper also comes with the matching left leg we see in the Rebels episode ‘The Forgotten Droid’ and the left legs can be interchanged for another variant look for Chopper. The final accessory/diorama part is the rocket booster that slots in the same socket as the travel wheel leg and this then fits into an orange smoking blast effect base to display Chopper as though he were taking off. The effect pieces are well done in a translucent orange with painted wispy smoke around the base of the larger section - although the overall hold of Chopper in the flight position is not overly secure and he does have a tendency to rotate around on his own. While there is nothing wrong with Chopper as a Black Series figure, particularly considering all of the added value parts and the neat features like those unfolding manipulator arms, the key issue here is that this is essentially the same figure as the last two releases. That means we have had three identical Chopper releases in the past 4-years, and while this one had an opportunity to at least update the packaging to sit in and expand on the Ahsoka collection and artwork - it didn't take it and instead boxed collectors have a slightly strange setup for their Rebels artwork where 2 of the 8 Rebels figures released to date are Chopper. A handful of Marvel Legends are now showing up at Game stores in the UK with significantly reduced prices vs their RRP. They include MJ and Matt Murdock from Spider-Man: No Way Home at £8 each as well as Bruce Banner from the Infinity Saga releases at the same £8 price tag. Revealed at SDCC 2024 and now open for pre-order initially as a bundle through the NECA Store are these Alien; Romulus 7-inch scale releases. There is a 7-inch scale Xenomorph from Romulus featuring a selection of alternative hands, alternative dome, face-hugger, chest-burster, and a display stand. The accessory set also comes with Chestburster and Facehugger, which feature poseable wired tails. We then have a cryo frame case with three different panels, a Pulse Rifle accessory, two curled-up face-huggers that fit standard 7-inch scale heads, and an asteroid with fossilized Alien. These releases are listed as being Winter 2024 arrivals and these will get a wider release as individual figure and accessory set. The new wave of McFarlane DC Multiverse Collector Edition figures has opened for pre-orders. The wave features The Dark Knight Batman, The Huntress from New 52, and a Green Lantern Corps figure that features alternative heads so it can be displayed as either Tomar-Re or Abin Sur. Each figure will come with a collector's card and figure stand with Green Lantern also featuring a display stand for the card. Green Lantern will come with the two heads as well as four different Lantern Construct accessories. Batman will come with a streetlight diorama accessory as well as unmasked head and alternative hands. Huntress will come with three different facial plates, alternative hands, and her crossbow. All three figures have an October 2024 release date. Each figure also has a Platinum Edition Chase variant which will be randomly packed into the wave. “You're a jittery little thing, aren't you?” Wicket’s first Star Wars Black Series release was in 2023 as part of the Return of the Jedi 40th Anniversary series  and packed onto a blister card paying homage to the original 1983 movie figures. As a brand new figure first released in a 40th Anniversary series it was expected that Wicket would go on to get a general Galaxy Collection Release, and this was confirmed soon after the Anniversary release hit store shelves.  The Galaxy Collection Wicket was part of Wave 12 of the Phase 4 releases, a wave that also featured the new Chewbacca from ROTJ as well as a new Omega from The Bad Batch and a trio of Clone Wars releases. Wave 12 was released during the brief period of plastic-free packaging so the box features no window. Instead, Wicket is illustrated on the box with the contents confirmed on one side. Wicket is number 11 in the ROTJ collection, following on directly from Chewie with the green-hued montage. At the time of writing, there is no confirmation as to what the next figure in the series will be.  Wicket is one of the smallest characters released in the Black Series to date as a single figure, standing marginally smaller than the original Yoda release, with Grogu from The Mandalorian the only single-release character that can claim to be smaller. Proportions vs the onscreen portrayal from 1983 are strong with a comparable height to Warwick Davies in costume. The fur is fully sculpted with a brown base plastic and highlighted grey fur around the stomach, face, and ears. The face itself features a basic set of features with gloss black eyes, and off-white painted teeth. Wicket’s hood is removable, made in a softer rubberized plastic with a lighter brown tone and darker washes and stitching details above, and to the side, of the opening for the face.  vs 40th Anniversary Release (on right of both images) There is no variance in this Galaxy Collection Wicket to the 40th Anniversary Wicket aside from a few minor paint variations. If you are a loose collector, and you have the first release, this one has no further added value and that may be a reason - along with the window-free packaging - that this release is still hanging about on shelves at a reduced price point.  The figure features 12 points of articulation with the smaller body removing any options for knee joints or thigh swivels. The arms retain elbow and wrist joints, as well as the standard shoulder, allowing Wicket to be quite expressive with his arms. In contrast, the neck joint finds itself restricted by the hood. And the torso ball joint has limited forward motion, but Wicket can lean backward which does help in posing with some of his weaponry. The same set of weapons from the 40th Anniversary are included here starting with a basic bow and arrow, with the bow featuring a tube-like section to hold the arrow. We then have a pair of varying clubs, and the screen-accurate spear that Wicket wields during Return of the Jedi. Each of these is acceptable in terms of colouring, sculpt, and useability without any of them really standing out. Wicket’s hand grips are rudimentary with the three fingers, but he can hold any of the weapons in either hand and that helps in adding some character to him on display. For those that skipped the 40th Anniversary, then this Wicket is essentially a repack and is coming in cheaper than the carded version which will hold some desirability for carded collectors. You still get all the same accessories as the 40th release and the paint job is identical. There is no significant issues with Wicket and Ewok fans will be pleased to add him alongside Paploo and Teebo, or alongside the Ewok Village Leia. One of the big reveals from McFarlane at SDCC 2024 was their DC Multiverse Batmobile from Batman Forever. The main release of The Batmobile with Alfred Pennyworth is now live for pre-order at McFarlane stockists and has an October 2024 release date. There is then a Gold Label Amazon US Exclusive Glow-in-the-Dark version which comes without Alfred but includes glow-in-the-dark paintwork. This one is showing an early November 2024 release. At the moment it appears that the Amazon exclusivity is US only, with UK stockists already offering this for pre-order via what we assume is the UK distributor Bandai as is the usual way we get Gold Label releases here in the UK Every hero needs a right-hand man, and Alfred Pennyworth was precisely that for the Dark Knight of Gotham City.
