McFarlane have revealed a new DC Multiverse Gold Label Exclusive 2-Pack of Batman and Solomon Grundy as seen in the Batman: Arkham City game and in particular as they are viewed with the Detective Mode Scan function. Solomon Grundy has an orange hued body with painted skeletal detail while Batman comes with a blue hued paint scheme. The sole accessory for the set is Batman's grapnel gun, although we do also get the usual display stand for Batman and collector cards for both characters. The set is exclusive to Amazon in the US with an early October release date. A set of promo images have been circulated on the McFarlane Website for their new DC Direct Batman Beyond Gold Label figure previewed a few weeks ago. The new figure comes with a pair of removable wings, extra hands, batarangs, a display base, and the usual collector card. The McFarlane site has this listed as exclusive to both Walmart and Target in the US while here in the UK we would expect the item to be circulated through the distributor, Bandai UK. The Target website in the US has listed two more NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles releases from the Mirage Comics from Eastman & Laird. These are variant figures of the Foot Assassin and the Foot Enforcer . The Assassin is based on his appearance in the City of War storyline with a red and black decor inspired by the cover of issue 53 of the TMNT Mirage Comics, while the Enforcer then uses that aesthetic as a complimentary figure. Each figure comes with a selection of weaponry and alternative hands, with the Assassin also featuring an alternative head option. The sets are not yet in stock, or available to pre-order on the Target website and with no direct announcement from NECA it is not yet confirmed if these are exclusive or not. NECA has revealed their new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cryin' Hound figure in full. He was first revealed as part of SDCC 2024 and is taken from the TMNT Adventure Series from Archie Comics and is part of the Stump Wrestling figures. Originally reported as a Walmart Exclusive - part of their Collector Con Event - the figure has now been confirmed as available at all NECA stockists - so it looks to have been another 'first to market' arrangement for Walmart in the US. “I'm the best there is at what I do, and what I do best isn't very nice. I'm the Wolverine.” In advance of the release of Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024, Hasbro released a new set of Marvel Legends figures called the Deadpool Legacy Collection. The first two figures to be released were Deadpool  and Wolverine, repacked figures from the original Fox X-Men 20th Anniversary releases from 2020. While the Deadpool release was practically identical to the original 2-Pack release with some adjusted guns/holsters, the Wolverine release combined elements from the two 20th Anniversary Logan releases. The Legacy figures come in a rectangular box, the new format for Legends as well as all Hasbro Collector lines, with a black backdrop and red backing card. Wolverine still carries the Deadpool logo and the rear of the box features a large image of the Deadpool logo and Deadpool with no direct reference to the X-Men movies as an origin for this release. Wolverine is wearing the white vested outfit most associated with the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie from 2009, the movie that first introduced Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson. The figure features a white cast torso for the vest, with the skin tone painted in - while the arms are cast in a skin tone - which does mean a small discrepancy in colour between the parts, more noticeable under bright lighting. The trousers are blue with a darker wash to replicate denim and with a painted belt complete with Logan’s gold belt buckle.  The head sculpts are not taken directly from the 2009 movie, and are the sculpts from the original 2000 X-Men movie. You get two, with the neutral version the better likeness to Hugh Jackman, while the screaming angry head is of course more reflective of Logan. There is facial printing in place to enhance the sculpt with a particularly good job done in the eyes and on the open mouth of the shouting Logan. The hair pieces are plugged into the head so the line between the two is crisp, while the sideburns are painted.  vs the 2020 X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2020) release To add some variation in this re-release of Logan from the X-Men movies Hasbro has veered away from a direct re-release of the original figure  and on this 2024 release has swapped out both heads for the X-Men (2020) heads originally seen on the general Logan  release wearing his leather jacket. This decision provides us with a Wolverine that is not necessarily screen-accurate to the Origins movie (and the Deadpool 2 time travel cameo), and more of a generalized X-Men Wolverine/Logan. vs the 2020 X-Men (2020) release and with the 2020 Logan Exclusive Head sculpt Heads can be swapped across all three versions of this younger Wolverine, and you can also use the head (and claws) from the older Wolverine from Logan for a further look. There are minimal other variations between the 2020 and 2024 release although the vest features a more noticeable yellow hue, while the jeans are slightly lighter. Wolverine comes with his dog tag, a cast silver piece that is removable. You also get two pairs of hands, one a clenched pair of fists and the other a pair of Adamantium claws. The clawed hands on our figure arrived with the claws very loose and they fell out a bit too easily for our liking. This aside, the colour is suitable being cast in a silver plastic, and the shape is straight and true with no obvious warping. We do not get the bone claws seen on the original 2020 release which does still allow the original version to hold its value and desireability.  Logan has 21 points of articulation with visible pinned knees on the legs, but with pin free articulation on the upper torso. It is the top half that is most expressive with the extensive arm and torso joints combining with the clawed hands in particular for many of Wolverine’s iconic poses. With no costume as such the joints are more in your face than usual with a slightly odd cut at the shoulder either side of the vest straps. The legs will also aid in your more dynamic displays with the ability to get into wider stances, running poses, and to kneel down. With this 2024 re-release of Wolverine, Hasbro has put a popular X-Men figure back into circulation some 4-years after its first release but with sufficient adjustments to make it look and feel renewed. While the X-Men (2020) head sculpts are not quite accurate in terms of screen time, the figure is perhaps the Wolverine look we most associate with the character and avoids the comic book styling the Origins movie went in with Hugh Jackman’s hair. The lack of the bone claws is a disappointment, but the fact parts from all four Logan/Wolverine figures can be interchanged now allows us as collectors scope in assembling the variations we wish to have on our displays. Two more Diamond Select Toys Walking Dead comic book figures have been revealed. Joining the fledgling 7-inch line in Wave 2 are new black and white figures of Negan and a Walker. The Walker features two head options, a removable cap, and removable limb parts. Negan will feature two head options - one smiling - as well as his bat Lucille. Mcfarlane is bringing us two new DC Multiverse releases for Red Hood with a single-figure release of him from Dawn of DC, and a Motorcycle from Red Hood: Outlaw. The Dawn of DC Red Hood figure features a sword and a crowbar as weapons and these can be clipped to the figure's back when not in use. We also get alternative hands, as well as the usual display base and collector card. Red Hood's Sport Bike includes a display stand and a collector card. Both items are live for pre-order as of the 23rd of August at McFarlane stockists, with an October 2024 release date for Red Hood and a November 2024 date for the Sports Bike. Any collector of Action Figures will know that displaying your collection is a key part of our hobby. Our displays are our showcase and while they also house our collection they play a part in maintaining it with more enclosed display options protecting our figures from dust and dirt. For this look at the iDislayit offerings, we selected a couple of cases that stood 24cm tall  providing adequate height for standard 6 or 7-inch figures. The core of the cases can be purchased with either gloss black or gloss white bases depending on your preference, with some much more visual options available with printed backgrounds. These printed backgrounds offer some exciting options for action figure collectors with the Lego Razor Crest  case, as an example, having a number of alternative possibilities for a Star Wars-themed display for the Black Series. Our review is of the following two cases which were provided to us free of charge by iDisplayit 32 x 32 x 24cm Display Case (Black) £48.00 21 x 13 x 20cm Display Case (White) £25.20 The team at iDisplayit has created a unique system of flat-pack acrylic displays allowing shipping costs to be kept low. On arrival, your case is robustly packed and each surface is protected on both sides by a protective film. The sides are clipped into the base and then joined by a clear plastic clip and joining screw that connects at each vertical edge with an allen key included in every set to allow the screw to be fitted and tightened. A case can be assembled in full in a matter of minutes, and also has the added benefit of being something you can take back apart for storage or if you are ever moving your collection. The smaller 21cm x 13cm  case can easily accommodate three to four 6 or 7-inch action figures, allowing you to curate your display around a group of connected figures, or a particular scene. For any larger figures such as the new Carnage (who arrived just in time to try these cases out), you may need to pose the figure in more of a crouch - or simply find one of the iDisplayit cases with more headroom for your figure. At only 21cm wide and 13cm deep this particular case is perfect for open bookcases or wall shelving, putting your figures on full display from all angles while protecting them from dust and dirt. The larger case is very much around more impressive diorama displays or for displaying larger items from your collection. This 32cm x 32cm  case allowed me to have a full Cantina Bar display within it using the Star Wars Black Series bar diorama. It also accommodated the brand new SDCC Darth Maul and Sith Speeder - complete with packaging and the probe droid. We also tried out groups from McFarlane’s Warhammer line, Diamond Lord of the Rings, and we even got a TARDIS and a few Daleks into it from Characters Doctor Who series.  Size-wise, this particular model is almost perfect for the top of a Detolf (Ikea) unit and it will also sit on the top of a Billy, although there is a slight overhang. And having taken a closer look at these two samples, I am now exploring how I can fill up a few gaps around my display case collection with these cases to house some of the larger items I have including things like the Black Series Snowspeeder, Luke’s Landspeeder, or the Marvel Legends Surtur and Vulture.  The possibilities are almost endless with the iDisplayit catalog featuring multiple dimension options with the 24cm (action figure) height cases featuring 44 options  alone to choose from. The quality is also second to none, with perfectly machined panels that connect with ease and a clear and crisp finish to each clear panel showcasing the items within. From a practical perspective, they will still attract dust and fingerprints like any surface, but they are easy enough to clean using a static duster or by using soapy water and microfibre cloth. And while the screw fixings initially appear intrusive, they certainly do not draw the eye or detract from the case content once your display is set up.  You may be able to tell I am already a fan of these cases and I certainly will be making some purchases of my own in the coming months once I have worked out what I want on display and where I want to position it.
