The first two Transformers Studio Series releases for the Transformers the Movie Devastator have been listed for pre-order. Deluxe Bonecrusher and Voyager Scrapper will be Spring 2025 releases. They are followed by a Voyager 2-pack of Long Haul and Hook in July. Devastator will be completed in September with Deluxe Scavenger and Voyager Mixmaster. The trio of Marvel Legends Deluxe figures from the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World movie have opened on general pre-order with a release date that will be somewhere between December 2024 and January 2025. The trio features Sam Wilson Captain America with wingsuit and helmeted head, the new Falcon with wingsuit, and a Red Hulk deluxe with two head options and alternative hands. The three figures are presented in the older format Legends packaging as they were developed and initially planned to be 2024 releases until the movie itself was pushed back. The Hasbro Marvel Legends segment of their MCM London Comic Con presentation revealed the first figures from the upcoming February 2025 Marvel Cinematic Release, Captain America: Brave New World. We can look forward to three Deluxe releases from the movie starting with Captain America with wingsuit, shield, and masked head. He will be joined by the new Falcon, complete with his own wingsuit and what we assume to be Redwing. Completing the trio is the new Red Hulk. These are reported as going up for pre-order next week on Monday the 28th of October, but we are awaiting the full press-pack. There are indications these may be with us by the end of 2024. These will also be in the older scooped side packaging indicating their delay following the movie itself being pushed back from 2024 into 2025. "Paz Vizsla, enjoin the Shriek-hawk Training team to accompany you." The Mandalorian Shriek-Hawk trainers were introduced in The Mandalorian Season 3 as part of the Children of the Watch. They appeared in a number of episodes, starting with The Apostate and were named as Shriek-Hawk Training Team Mandalorians in The Foundling. They would go on to be present on Navarro to battle the Pirate gang and then in the events to retake Mandalore. While on-screen there are four members in the team, Hasbro announced three in the Star Wars Black Series as Autumn 2024 releases. One would be a single boxed release, with the other pairing packed into a two pack release - all three sold exclusively at Target in the US and via the Fan Channel here in the UK and elsewhere. They began shipping in late October 2024. The 2-pack uses the new packaging design for the Galaxy Collection with a fully squared-off box that is the same height and depth as a single release, but with an expanded width to accommodate both figures. The same black base colour of the box is accented in the deep orange colour assigned to The Mandalorian collection - with the same colour tones used on the side art. The two packs are not numbered and are not part of the wider montage that the side art combines to make, with the art for the Shriek-Hawk Trainers showing both of the included characters on a split illustration.  On the back is a short piece of background for the Shriek-Hawks and the Trainers who lead them and their role in using Jet Packs to fly into battle and on rescue missions. Inside the figures sit in the usual plastic tray against a new coloured card backdrop which is a new addition to this latest Galaxy Collection format - and this is not just a flat colour it includes background art with sunlight breaking through clouds.  Our first Shriek-Hawk trainer uses the existing female Mandalorian body, most recently used on the Mandalorian Nite Owl , as a base with added parts to create the look as seen on screen. The base torso is sky blue in colour with a chest plate of green and orange creating a similar overall scheme to Boba Fett. The shoulder pauldrons are cream on the right and blue on the left with the latter carrying the Shriek-Hawk symbol as a grey decal. Further down the gauntlets also vary in colour with orange on the right and a new piece sculpted for this figure on the left in a burgundy finish with silver-painted weaponry. The belt incorporates a skirt piece - also in blue - with the belt painted in browns with gold buckle and inclusive of a right-sided holster. The legs are grey with brown painted panels at either side of the thigh, alternatively coloured knee panels and similarly variant shin armour one cream and one silver.  The helmet is that of Bo-Katan and it is glued in place over what I can assume is an unpainted Bo-Katan head. It uses a deep blue base with silver trim around the owl visor and with a single silver stripe with black trim extended up and over the dome of the helmet. The helmet still features a poseable range Finder, and a final loose-fitting neck scarf piece in a green/brown has been added around the neck to finish off the look. The female Shriek-Hawk comes with a jetpack - the same as included with Bo-Katan - with a green overall finish inlaid with cream panels, an orange central section and silver thrusters and rocket.  Her companion, a make Shriek-Hawk Trainer uses the Mandalorian Privateer  as a base but features changed-out parts with a brand-new chest plate, a new belt and a new left gauntlet with similar weaponry to this counterpart. The second Trainer has a muted brown colour scheme with a dull brown over most of the inner suit and darker browns on the chest and the right side pauldron which carries the Shriek-Hawk decal symbol. Colours are overlaid to the brown by way of burgundy down the right-hand gauntlet, belt and holster, and the right side thigh armour. The right leg finishes with burgundy boots but with a green armour panel. On the left, the pauldron is a drab green, with bright orange gauntlet and grey tones on the thigh armour.  The male Shriek-Hawk Trainer includes a helmet also taken straight off the Privateer but fixed in place over an unpainted head. The range finder remains in place but is cut off - which initially makes it look broken, but this is the intended finish. The helmet is a deep blue with grey trim and gloss black visor. His jet pack is turquoise in colour with lighter green panels and silver rocket and thrusters. The thrusters are poseable and can be pivoted around the joint in which they sit.  Both Shriek-Hawks use similar weaponry. Both come with a basic WESTAR-35 Mandalorian Blaster with the female Shriek-Hawk Trainer using the existing mould in grey with a black-painted grip. This fits into her right trigger hand and also into her holster when not in use. The Male Shriek-Hawk has a newer version of the WESTSAR-35 with a chunkier finish - and while its similar to that used by the Mandalorian Loyalist  and Super Commando  it seems to be a new sculpt with different features and components. Again, it fits into the right trigger hand or the holster slung diagonally on the front of the belt. Both Mandalorians also then come with a larger weapon, the Deathwatch Rifle Blaster as originally included with the Deathwatch Mandalorian . Both of these blasters are identical cast in black and with a gold trim included down the length of the barrel. These are designed to fit into the right trigger hand on both figures with the left hands shaped to cup the secondary grip at the front of the weapon for a two handed firing position. Articulation for the Shriek-Hawk Trainers is similar with 19 points in total on both figures, all pinless. The upper arms are mobile enough for the weapon posing, with the shoulder joint not restricted by the pauldrons which withdraw under the chest armour as the shoulder joints are moved on our female Mando, and hinged pauldrons on the male that flex up and out when his arms are moved. Both Shriek-Hawks have a good range of leg movement, with the flexible skirt on our female Shriek-Hawk having little impact on the movement of the legs. Both stand securely once posed. The two-pack further extends our Mandalorian Covert and with Children of the Watch troopers that vary from the very blue Nite Owls and Privateers we have had so far. While both figures re-use plenty of parts, there are new additions to make both figures individual and I do like the scarf and skirt sections used on the female figure to add a more ragged look to the Mandalorian armour. Both figures are well painted with plenty of colour variation across the armour, but without any weathering or battle damage which is perhaps a miss considering the history of these Mandalorians. Price-wise, it is good to see these 2-packs coming in at a reduced total compared to two single releases, and for £44.99  (lower if you shop around) they are a nice addition to a Mandalorian display - while also being easy enough to skip for those concentrating only on the main characters or mainline numbered boxes. Hasbro Pulse held its annual 1027 Premium Members event on the 27th of October 2024 with news and reveals from across the various Hasbro properties. The event is summarised as follows by category Star Wars In the Star Wars Black Series, we can look forward to the new Deluxe Savage Opress from The Clone Wars as a Fan Channel release. It opens for pre-order on the 28th of October. It is a Summer 2025 release. In the Vintage Collection, the reveals included Yord Fandar from The Acolyte and Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jedi Legends) from the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series. Marvel Legends Marvel Legends Warbird 'Dark Avenger' was revealed as a Hasbro Pulse and Fan Channel exclusive. It will open for pre-order on the 7th of November G.I. Joe The Nemesis Immortal Deluxe G.I. Joe Classified release will finally open for pre-order on the 28th of October 2024. Transformers The Studio Series Devastator is kicking off with the first pre-orders as of the 28th of October with Deluxe Bonecrusher and Voyager Scrapper. This pair should be released in April 2025. It has been just over7-days since the Hasbro HasLab Ghostbusters Anniversary Ectomobile project was launched and after the first week, we are well past the 50% backer mark - which is looking reasonably positive for those who want to include the Louis Tulley Ghostbuster figure to the project - an addition IF the full 12,000 backers pledge in the first 14-days. Hasbro have taken to social media to clarify a few key questions that have cropped up in the past week, particularly around the decals that are used to differentiate the main body of the car between ECTO-1 from Ghostbusters 1984 and ECTO-1A from Ghostbusters 2 in 1989. Hasbro has confirmed these are re-useable decals and with care, you should be able to reposition these up to five times (maybe up to ten) so while changing your Ectomobile between the first and second movie cars is not indefinite, you should be able to try out both for your display. They also confirmed the ECTO-1A LED lights are not true LED's but use an inserted panel with the various LED signs over a lit backdrop. There are seven of these to choose from in the project. "OK. Name: the Doctor. Occupation: not a doctor. Current status: just passing by. Employer: myself. Address: that blue box over there." Doctor Who returned to our screens under the stewardship of Ncuti Gatwa’s 15th Doctor at Christmas 2023, with a full series airing in the Spring of 2024. Under this new era, once again headed by Russel T. Davis, the Character Options Action Figure line finds itself regenerated to what they are referring to as their Generation 3 Doctor Who collector figures. The 5-inch line dates back as far as 2005 and Christopher Eccleston’s 9th Doctor. These were the Generation 1 figures covering both the 9th, 10th, and 11th Doctor eras but also bringing us figures from the Classic era. The next evolution of the Character line came around the time of the 12th Doctor and initially saw the 5-inch line parked and replaced with 3.75-inch figures. The smaller scale failed to take off and the larger line - now badged as a 5.5-inch collector line - bounced back in 2014 with single-release boxed figures from the 12th Doctor era as well as some repacked carded figures from the 9th-11th Doctor years.  Since then the line has dwindled and been supported by exclusive releases direct from Character or at B&M stores in the UK with multi-packs being a key theme as was recycling and tweaking of existing characters. And so we reach 2024 and Generation 3 of the Doctor Who line which kicks off with a Character Options Exclusive bundle of the 15th Doctor and Ruby Sunday - a bundled set they are calling the Vortex Edition. The figures arrive in a cardboard outer case and within this, there is a white sleeve that holds the two individual boxes into the ‘bundle’ in which they were sold. This outer sleeve has no details other than the current Doctor Who logo as used across the BBC merchandise, as well as a barcode and some legal details around the back. The sleeve has no reference to the contents of the set - and even the exposed corners showing through from the boxes within only carry two more Who logos and the barcodes for the individual boxes. All-in-all, the outer sleeve feels redundant, and perhaps an afterthought to bundle these two figures into one release. Inside the outer sleeve are a pair of windowboxes with cut-off corners, creating an interesting shape for display, and slightly more of a challenge to open if you intend to keep the boxes for repacking later. The boxes show off the figures beautifully as well as matching - in theme - to the latest B&M and other Character Exclusive releases, employing the same background, TARDIS image, and diamond callouts of key information. The accent colour scheme - specific to each Doctor - is used on the box and the card back behind the figure with a pink hue apparently assigned to the 15th Doctor. The rear of the boxes has an image of the character, a large diamond call out detailing the key upgrades of the Generation 3 figures. Beneath this is a short character bio. Each box opens via the top or bottom flap, but you will also have to un-slot the angled section as well to slide out the contents. The figures are sat into their cardback trays in clear plastic shaped trays with white cotton ties holding the figure in place. These ties do throw off the overall look for boxed collectors and seem to be an odd addition for an item only sold online. We start with the 15th Doctor who is a brand new sculpt and is very much showcasing what these new Phase 3 figures are all about. The Doctor is wearing his outfit from his debut in The Church on Ruby Road with a sculpted open-neck shirt with a striped pattern, blue trousers, his burgundy overcoat, and red, white, and black trainers. The applied decor is the best we’ve seen on a Who figure with a wash to weather the coat and particular details picked out across the costume including the buttons and belt on the coat, the laces on the trainers, and the various chains and pendants around the Doctor’s neck. We also have rings sculpted and painted on the hands, while the head sculpt is a wonderful likeness to Ncuti Gatwa and while not obviously photo printed there is a definite jump in overall realism to the previous figures. Articulation has also taken plenty of steps forward, with the entirety of the figure now using internal pins which enhances the look overall. We also now get a ball joint neck so the head has more motion and the ability to offer some characterization in posing. The arms come with a full ball joint shoulder as well as an elbow joint with bend and rotation. There is a word of caution here as when you bend the elbow the edge of the upper bicep can get stretched, leaving some stress marks in the plastic. The waist joint is now a ball joint allowing torso movement for the first time in the line and the legs themselves include a ball joint hip which I found less than extensive as it sounds and very much fixed into neutral positions despite coaxing with some mild heat treatment. Lower down we keep the thigh swivels, the knee then mirrors the elbow with pivot and swivel. And we finally get ankle joints helping extend the posing options further. All in all, we count 16 points of articulation, comparable to other lines of a similar scale.  The Doctor is fun to pose, particularly with the included accessories starting with the first Psyhcic Paper accessory in the line which comes in a flexible plastic with a dark grey outer sleeve and a painted white panel. This doesn’t quite fit snugly in either hand, so it will fall out if dislodged. The same can be said of the Sonic Screwdriver which is a lovely scaled replica of the prop in a silver base colour with blue and gold segments. It too will prop in the Doctor’s right hand, but not securely gripped and perhaps one key element these Phase 3 figures are missing are alternative hands to work with the accessories. The final accessory is from Boom! which isn’t quite contemporary to the outfit but is a a bit of fun. The Villengard mine is a circular scaled piece that sits flat to the floor with a green edge and white and black upper panel which looks to be an applied sticker. There are no peg holes on the Doctor’s feet, and no pegs on the mine so it's not a true stand - but it can be posed with the figures, particularly thanks to the updated articulation. Moving over to Ruby Sunday and she too is designed to be wearing her outfit from The Church on Ruby Road, making her and the Doctor a story match for display. Ruby’s outfit includes a textured red sweater with outer black coat with white painted fur trim. She is then wearing a printed pattern checked skirt, grey tights, and a pair of ankle boots. While she doesn’t feature any obvious weathering - the detailing on Ruby is similar to the Doctor with painted silver jewelry on her neck and fingers as well as silver studs on her boots and a slightly lighter brown/black sole.  Ruby’s head is not quite as good a likeness as Gatwa’s, capturing the look of actor Mille Gibson but perhaps not quite her expression with a suppressed smile around her mouth. Like the Doctor the Facial details are crisper on Ruby but not quite at the photo realism stage used on other lines. The team at Character has also chosen to give Ruby a very specific pointing gesture on her right hand which works brilliantly if you want her pointing - but less so in other positions. Like the Doctor alternative hands are a miss here. Ruby has the same 16 points of articulation as the Doctor with ball joint neck and waist, ball joint shoulders, rotating elbow joints, ball joint hips, thigh swivel, and knee joint. There is one difference in that Ruby does not get a true ankle rocker, but rather a swivel at the top of her boots. Ruby comes with two accessories, her handbag which can sit around her neck and over either shoulder, and her mobile phone. The bag is OK but won’t always sit naturally because the strap cannot get under the large collars of the coat. The phone is a better piece with a red case and black screen with her camera visible on the back. This fits more snugly than either of the Doctor’s pieces and is pinched into Ruby’s left hand for posing - with options also to use the right hand, although the pointing finger doesn’t quite look right with the phone in hand. Together the Doctor and Ruby Sunday look great, and while they are suitably enhanced versus previous releases, the scale has not been adjusted and the variance is not something that will make your older figures look considerably out of place. It is however a hope that these new figures will be successful and that the figures of the Doctor and Ruby can be fleshed out on display with a TARDIS of their own, and perhaps some enemies and allies alongside. The Hasbro Star Wars segment of their MCM London Comic Con presentation revealed a handful of new figures starting with a trio of Prequel era Black Series releases. This Fan Channel wave will include Sebulba from The Phantom Menace (06). McFarlane's latest DC Multiverse Build-a-FIgure wave featuring the Justice League was previewed at NYCC 2024 and is now open for pre-orders. The four figure wave is based on the Justice League Task Force videogame and comes with figures of Superman, Batman, Aquaman and The Flash.
