The McFarlane Movie Maniacs posed 6-inch figures from Amazon's Fallout series are getting a further trio of variants. Following on from the general releases, and the recently announced Amazon Gold Label 4-pack , are three single Gold Label releases. The figures of Lucy, Maximus and The Ghoul also feature the same bloodied paint job as the Amazon set - but are single-packed and exclusive to Walmart in the US. Three more of McFarlane's DC Multiverse 'Jokerized' Gold Label Exclusives have been released as exclusives in Target stores in the US. McFarlane have announced two new 3 inch scale Page Puncher 2-packs from the DC Universe. Set one features Bruce Wayne and the Joker with a repirnt of a Dark Knight Returns comic. The second set features Batman of Earth -11 and Batman of Earth -44 with a Dark Knights Metal comic book. "Okay. Hey, when you run into him, just... Just treat him like an old friend. Call him by his name." The Marvel TV Special Werewolf by Night aired in 2022 with a coloured version following a year later in 2023. The Disney+ special gave us our first look at a Marvel Cinematic Man-Thing along with other iconic characters such as the titular character Jack Russel and Elsa Bloodstone. There were no particular indications that we were to expect any Marvel Legends figures from this one-off release, and yet in the summer of 2024, it was confirmed that we were to get a new Man-Thing figure.  The Marvel Legends Man-Thing was a late October arrival, sold through Fan Channel retailers as well as Hasbro Pulse. He is packed into the new format squared packaging, but due to his bulk, the box has had to be extended across its width, depth and height to fit the figure inside. The basic design principles remain consistent with the Legends line with a black base colour, a large window that wraps around to the left-hand side, and a front-facing logo from the property the figure is representing - in this case Werewolf by Night. The right-hand side of the box confirms the figure with an illustration around on the side panel, done here in black and white but with coloured red eyes to reflect the original presentation of the special on Disney+. Around the back we find the majority of the reverse side turned over to a recreation of the marketing poster sitting above the usual legal text. There is no room for any background info on Man-Thing. The figure sits in an inner tray that then sits within a deep red cardboard insert. There is no specific detail in the backdrop, although it is ‘distressed’ with black spatter and markings rather than a flat red.  One of the key drives for an MCU Man-Thing was of course the availability of a comic book figure from 2017 to build on. This 2017 build-a-figure does form the base of our new MCU Man-Thing but only by way of the core components of the waist, hips, upper legs, and upper arms. Everything else is sculpted as new to recreate the live action version of Man-Thing (Ted). The body is cast in a deep green plastic with the sculpted foliage right across the body varying from vine line components to fungus-like growths on the arms and legs. These are picked out in completing browns and lighter greens with further colour teased around the shoulders with a small yellow flower budding on the left-hand side.  The head is a good recreation of Ted from his Disney+ outing, a look that remained very faithful to his comic book origins with the red eyes, prominent brow, and three extending ‘tusks’ from this cheeks and mouth area.  There are two sets of hands included with Man-Thing allowing you to choose between open hands and a pair of clenched fists. These are simple enough to pop in and out, and with a peg that is robust enough so not to be at risk of damage if you change the hands on a regular basis. Both sets of hands use the same base green as the figure and the same sculpted detail and brown-painted trailing tendrils.  Articulation is rooted back in the original 2017 figure and we do have visible pegs on the elbows and knees. Man-Thing has 19 points of articulation and is pretty articulate for a larger figure with a good range of motion in the arms and the ability in the torso and head to have him stoop forward or look upward. Despite the bulk of the upper torso, the legs are solid with the feet broad enough to hold Ted in place once posed with no obvious imbalance. The Werewolf by Night Man-Thing is an interesting and quite unique release in so much that he is accurate enough to the comic books to fit into both a Marvel Cinematic or Marvel Comicbook collection. Yes, he is based on an older figure but more than 50% of the figure has been updated when Hasbro might have tried to get away with a head swap for a re-release of this nature. He has sufficient bulk and height to warrant the Deluxe release has £40 RRP with Fan Channel retailers dropping below this if you shop around. All in all, this is an impressive and quite surprising release who’s only potential flaw is the lack of universe-building around him - although the promo blurb released with the figure when it was announced did allude to more Werewolf by Night figures to come. "This is Enoch, captain of my guard." Since the reveal of Grand Admiral Thrawn’s Imperial army on Peridea, there have been a clamouring for the release of both Captain Enoch and the Night Troopers into the Star Wars Black Series. This was finally confirmed on May the 4th 2024 with a 2-pack featuring both Enoch and a Night Trooper scheduled as an Autumn release and exclusive to Walmart in the US and sold via Fan Channel retailers in the UK and other territories. This decision of a two-pack and an exclusive was perhaps disappointing, particularly for those wishing to army-build. However, the set - which was released at the very end of October 2024 - was reasonably priced at sub £45 and with relatively strong availability here in the UK at least.  Like all new Galaxy Collection releases, the Enoch & Night Trooper set has moved to the new squared box format while retaining the black base colouring, light blue accent colour and side artwork. Like most 2-packs the set is not part of the numbered collection and the artwork - which is split between Enoch and the Trooper - does not directly connect to any of the other releases.  The back of the box focuses on Enoch and his role within Thrawn's forces, with a final sentence focusing on the Night Troopers. The new packaging features a coloured backdrop to the figures in the box and once you've taken out your Troopers the design is revealed in full as a very clear backdrop of the Eye of Scion controls Starting with Enoch and the Captain uses the newest Imperial Stormtrooper  figure as a base - as would have been the case in the backstory of Thrawn’s exile to Peridea - but with a considerable amount of updated parts and paintwork. The upper armour remains predominantly the same as a standard Trooper but with gold painted left Pauldron and panels and the Kintsugi gold invalid repairs all added as painted detail rather than sculpted ‘cracks’. Enoch’s midsection is new and is fully gold featuring variant greebles and panels to a standard Trooper. And round the back of Enoch the rear part of the chest armour forgoes the usual back section with a circular panel and two banks of components and features a flatted squared piece with four quadrants of components including elements also painted in gold.  The lower legs are all direct Stormtrooper parts but with the same paint application as the torso with gold panels and gold repaired cracks painted over the white cast armour. There are also some darker black panels also on the right thigh and left ankle. Over this sits a brand new burgundy knee-length skirt section with a painted black belt and holster on Enoch’s right hip. The helmet is new and uses the top, back and sides of an Imperial Trooper helmet but with a new human shaped faceplate in gold with black eyes. The intricate helmnet also featured painted repaired lines, black panels and a pair of bright red Imperial insignia either side of the forehead. While the recent Stormtrooper helmets are a helmet glued over a sculpted head - the Enoch helmet features no such interior detail.  Enoch features a single blaster, a new piece in black with gold trim. It can be holstered in the working holster, or held in either the left or right hands with both featuring a trigger finger.  Enoch’s accompanying Night Trooper is also built on the main Stormtrooper body for the Black Series but also features new parts. The armour is all cast in a flatter white than the usual high gloss with the red dressings all sculpted detail across brand new armoured parts - these include both Pauldrons, upper right arm, lower right arm, and right hand. There is also wrappings sculpted onto the chest piece, around the waist section and on the lower left shin. These are all painted neatly in deep red contrasting with the white of the armour. You can also see the Kintsugi repairs in gold, painted into place as with Enoch - they are less prominent than the captain, but visible on the chest and left knee guard and lower leg in particular. The Night Trooper helmet is a re-use of the Imperial helmet but with the faceplate and dome in deep grey with gold repair detail. This replicates the specific Night Trooper who parades behind Enoch as they escort Thrawn when he makes his first appearance in Ahsoka. This perhaps goes some way to offset the army-building argument with this figure based on a specific trooper while also developing parts and paint techniques for more army builders to join the line in the future. The Night Trooper is armed with the usual E-11 blaster, the newer cast accessory from the latest Stormtrooper releases. It is cast in a similar grey to his helmet without any further details. It can also fit in right or left hand but has no holstering option. Both Enoch and the Night Trooper include the same pinless articulation with 19 points in total across the Trooper's body. The articulation on the Trooper allows for a wide range of positions including the ability to kneel - Enoch’s skirt piece does partly hinder his lower leg options. Both Troopers have un restricted upper body articulation supported in particular with butterfly shoulders that allow for plenty of weapon poses. Coming from a period where exclusive two packs were pushing £50 and £60, it is refreshing that Hasbro has kept the RRP on this set down to £45 with some Fan Channel retailers pushing it as low as £42 - which works out to just £21 per figure. Both figures are really well executed and with more new parts and decor applications than I had perhaps expected - particularly with the Night Trooper who’s red-wrapped armoured panels will almost certainly feed into future Night Trooper army builders. While it is probably true that these figures should have been single releases, what you get for your money is certainly well worth it for a two-pack and for those just wanting Enoch as a figure, there will be plenty of re-sale options on the secondary market for your spare Night Trooper.
