As Skeleton Crew debuted on Disney+ in December 2024, Hasbro put a full wave of Skeleton Crew figures into immediate stock. The six-figure wave consisted of the four main child characters, Pirate Captain Brutus, and Jude Law’s mysterious character Jod Na Nawood. Jod is number 01 in the Galaxy Collection for Skeleton Crew kicking off the montage ahead of Neel at number 2 and the other four figures. The Skeleton Crew assigned colouring is a deep yellow used on the art and character text and on the backing of the figure - a backing that now also includes a background image. This picture is not immediately obvious as to what it is, but when you follow through the montage to the other characters it is likely the buildings from the Observatory moon which would also match the outfit that Jod is wearing as the figure and in the associated artwork. The rear of the box carries a short synopsis of the series rather than the character - avoiding any specific spoilers. While Jod has a few outfit variations in Skeleton Crew, the figure is based specifically on the outfit he picks after coming on board the Onyx Cinder and with the scarf that he then uses for some kind of disguise on the Observatory Moon. The shirt is a light grey colour and slightly off colour to the one seen on the show which has more of a blue tone. The trousers are red/brown with sculpted pockets and are tucked into a pair of grey boots with a brown strap. Jod wears two belts - one a plain black with silver buckles, the second a brown gunslinger belt with a holster sat at the front of his left hip. Over all of this is Jod’s coat, a burgundy piece with gold detailing on the pockets and cuffs. The outfit concludes with hands painted in a brown - like the shirt, this colouring is off and the gloves should really be a much darker finish. The headsculpt presents a reasonable likeness to actor Jude Law with face printing used to bring out the eyes, facial shadows and the stubble Jod sports. The scarf piece is a softer plastic that fits tightly over the head leaving the face exposed while the scarf covers up the head and then flows down over the front of his coat section. Due to the tight fit there is a risk of paint rub over time.  As well as the scarf, Jod is packed with a single blaster - a flintlock type blaster he takes from the Onyx Cinder and that can be worn on his belt in the holster. It also fits in either the left or right hand with both provided with a trigger finger grip. The blaster itself features a black barrel with silver trim and a brown grip. Jod has 17 points of pinless articulation utilising the newest configuration with legs that have had the thigh swivel removed and that rotation left at the knee joint. Jod also has butterfly shoulders hidden away under his coat and a dual joint neckpiece that allows for expressive head movement and crisp decor with the neck cast in the same flesh tone as the head and not painted. Jod’s coat is split down four sides which aids leg movement for wider stances while the arms can wield the blaster in shooting positions.  As a representation of Jod Na Nawood as seen during the middle segment of Skeleton Crew, the figure ticks most boxes and is just a couple of colour tones - shirt and gloves - away from screen accuracy. He presents a wide range of articulation, an alternative ‘disguise’ through the scarf, and a blaster which all allows you to display him either gesticulating as he does when dealing with the crew - or in more dynamic posing. Releasing later in January 2025 are a new series of limited articulation 5-inch figures from Trick or Treat Studios based on the iconic R.L. Stine Goosebumps books. The five-figure wave features Slappy from Night of the Living Dummy, the Scarecrow from the Scarecrow Walks at Midnight, the Mummy from Curse of the Mummy's Tomb, the Masked monster from The Haunted Mask, and the Mud Monster from You Can't Scare Me. If you collect all five figures in the series, the wave also includes a 'Build-a-Bonehead' where parts can be collected to create a bonus sixth figure of Curly. Each figure retails around $25 in the US and for that you get the figure and a Goosebumps slime inspired plastic backdrop. The figure packaging is inspired by the R.L. “Now, SM-33 show me how to fly my ship” As Skeleton Crew debuted on Disney+ in December 2024, Hasbro put a full wave of Skeleton Crew figures into immediate stock. The six-figure wave consisted of Jude Law’s mysterious character Jod Na Nawood, Captain Brutus, and the four main characters including Fern. Like Neel and Wim before her, Fern’s packaging uses the subtitle of ‘At Attin’ which does indicate other versions of Fern might follow when in reality the figure represents the sole outfit we see her wear in the show aside from the disguises on Lanupa. The Skeleton Crew Galaxy Collection has been given a rich Yellow accent colour which is used on the character name and the side artwork. Fern is number 4 in the Skeleton Crew collection with her artwork sitting between Wim and KB in the larger connective montage. The rear of the box carries a repeat of this artwork and a short synopsis of the series rather than the character - avoiding any specific spoilers. The backing cards of each of the newer boxes are also now aligned to the same accent colour scheme and feature a background. For Fern, this artwork shows us a very plain section of planetscape and nothing specifically aligned to At Attin and more like the Observatory Moon. Fern wears her primary costume from the season with a cream shirt, overlaid with a ribbed brown jacket with cream trim and added badges. There are five badges on the front of her jacket and two more on the left sleeve, all sculpted and then painted or with a more detailed decal applied. Fern’s trousers are a light brown with sculpted and painted knee pads in further brown tones and with a simple pair of brown tan boots. Fern is proportioned as we see on the show, standing taller than both Wim and Neel and at a similar height to her friend KB. Fern’s head sculpt a fantastic likeness to actor Ryan Kiera Armstrong enhanced further using the standard face printing technology. Her hair, tied back into a ponytail is cast in brown and is attached to the head creating a clean line between skin and hair. The ponytail is plaited and curls around her neck and over the front of her shoulders as seen in the show.  Like her fellow crew, Fern features a backpack that utilises a hard sculpted pack in cream and softer plastic straps to allow it to be worn over the shoulders. The base colour is a bit off vs the place green tone we see on screen, which is a shame considering the wider attention to detail. On the backpack itself, this detail continues to include a central silver emblem on the flap and a black patch further down. There is a socket to the top which incorporates Fern’s sole accessory - a torch. While Neel and Wim have multiple accessories, Fern only comes with her torch - a possible trade-off due to the broader range of decor she features on the jacket alone. The torch is another variation than those included with Neel and Wim, Fern’s torch is yellow with silver detailing and green and pink buttons on the central shaft. It fits in either of Fern’s gripping hands or slots into the socket in the backpack when not in use.  Fern has 17 points of pinless articulation which gives her a relatively wide range of posing options although the elbow joint is restricted to 90 degrees, and with no butterfly shoulders the arms are not quite as extensive as we might see on a more action orientated Jedi or Mandalorian figure. Fern is simple enough to pose and is stable once stood or positioned. Fern is a strong recreation of her onscreen look in the Black Series 6-inch format. Her decor is impressive with the various badges of the jacket recreated to a good standard. She does lack accessories, and while the articulation is good the lack of context to pose her with apart from a torch does limit display options and while I can see Fern has a more complex decor application, it would have been nice to include her shovel from episode 1, the blaster she wields on Port Borgo, or even the weapons from At Achrann. The beauty o f the wider Skeleton Crew wave is in combining the crew and displaying Fern with the other kids from the Onyx Cinder makes her and the other figures more than the sum of their individual parts. Like all her fellow At Attin adventurers, KB’s packaging uses the subtitle of ‘At Attin’ which does indicate other versions of KB might follow. While KB is seen in both the jumpsuit used on the figure, and in a school uniform the jumpsuit would be the main costume used throughout the season and not specific to At Attin itself.. For KB, this artwork shows us a similar plain section of planetscape as seen on Fern’s box with nothing specific to the At Attin and a scene that looks more like the Observatory Moon. KB is wearing her grey jumpsuit as seen through the majority of her adventures aboard the Onyx Cinder. The suit is cast as a base grey with the only decor a pair of yellow, red and blue patches on either shoulder. Costume variation is created in the boots which are a variant shade of grey, in a beige neck piece, and through an added black belt loaded with some gunmetal devices and a rear brown leather pouch. KB’s hands are cast in yellow to represent the gloves she wears. Scale wise her height is accurate to the show, standing the same - if not a touch taller - than Fern. The head sculpt is a good likeness to actor Kyriana Kratter complete with her cybernetic implants, although these are all fixed in place with Hasbro not keen or able to make the visor rotate up and away from KB’s eyes. The visor is grey with black lens and connects round to the side of the head where the implant features a similar grey and black colour scheme. KB’s hair is an added section fixed onto the head above the cybernetics and the shaved hair section. This is cast in very light blonde, almost white with silver/blue highlights. KB never has a backpack in the show, these are only carried by Wim , Neel and Fern . However, Hasbro has taken some licence or used earlier concept details to provide KB with a matching removable backpack in yellow to complement her outfit. This includes some blue and brown coloured trim and a socket for her torch. The straps are soft plastic and allow the pack to be worn by KB with a snug fit. The torch is KB’s only other accessory. This one is red with silver end caps and lens, and a trio of yellow buttons and a larger silver switch down the main body. As mentioned, it can be stowed in a slot in the backpack or held in either of KB’s hands.  KB has 17 points of pinless articulation, the same as Wim and Fern and using the slightly older leg format with thigh swivel and with no butterfly shoulders. The figure has enough movement for basic posing and is stable once stood. The arms do not bend sufficiently at the elbow to pose KB - as seen in the series - with her hand adjusting her visor, and this is disappointing. Like Fern, KB is sold a little short on accessories but unlike Fern doesn’t have the complex decor to offset the lack of contents. With no engineered articulation in the visor and with a lack of elbow movement KB is restricted to neutral stances or vanilla posing with her torch in hand. The beauty of the Skeleton Crew kids is in their combined display as a crew and KB finalises the group nicely for a wider display. The six-figure wave consisted of Jude Law’s mysterious character Jod Na Nawood, Captain Brutus, and the four main characters including Neel. Neel’s name on the box is followed by ‘At Attin’ as a subtitle. Neel was seen in both his school uniform and this casual gear during the At Attin scenes before they were whisked off the planet and therefore the ‘At Attin’ suffix doesn’t quite make sense. The Skeleton Crew Galaxy Collection has been given a rich Yellow accent colour which is used on the character name and the side artwork with Wim numbered as the 2nd figure in the Skeleton Crew collection. His side artwork connects between Jod Na Nawood and Wim for the wider side montage. For Neel, this artwork shows us a section of planetscape with a couple of buildings that seems to be those seen on the Observatory Moon, further contradicting the ‘At Attin’ of the figure’s title.  As mentioned above, Neel is wearing the outfit he wears for much of the Skeleton Crew adventure which consists of a pair of red dungarees with painted buckles over an orange sweater. The rest of the paint application is limited to Neel’s belt, which has a silver buckle and a number of further components slung around it - most in a plain gun-metal finish, but others feature gold and cream components. The outfit is concluded with Neel’s yellow boots with sculpted gripped soles but again, no paintwork. Neel’s species is (at the time of writing) not confirmed, but the figure’s head sculpt is a good recreation of the animatronic mask used on the show. This is mainly blue as a skin tone but there is graduation and fading to a flesh tone under the chin and around the base of the trunk and under the ears. Neel doesn’t appear to use facial printing instead the eyes are painted in a black tone with a white outline and small white reflective dots in the top corner. Neel’s hair is a darker blue as part of the head sculpt, this does mean the painted edge is slightly off in places but not overly noticeable considering the similarity of the two colours. Neel features 14 points of articulation incorporated around his smaller frame. The joints are all pinless and allow for a basic set of movements in both legs and arms. The waist allows rotation rather than a tilting motion afforded by the ball joint. The head has more movement, and while the shape of the trunk and ears do present a physical restriction, there is sufficient motion to allow Neel to both turn and tilt/raise his head.  When posing and displaying Neel, the feet need a bit of work to sit flat thanks to the way the hem of the trousers sit over the ankle-rocker joint. You will need to use the rotation within the knee joint to widen the stance to have Neel stand securely otherwise the lack of backward movement at the rocker does make Neel overbalance particularly with a slightly top-heavy design thanks to the head. The accessories included with Neel are all designed to sit on the figure as well as being held in his hand. This starts with his Walkie Talkie which is a grey piece with a sculpted control piece in orange with blue, white and silver buttons - and a silver-painted speaker. As well as being held in either of Neel’s hands, the device can also hang on Neel’s belt thanks to a plug and socket to the left-hand side near his hip. The belt can also hold the second of Neel’s accessories, the silver component device. If you work your way around the belt to the rear you will find another socket onto which this device can be clipped - otherwise, like the Walkie-Talkie the piece can be held in either hand. Neel also comes with a backpack which he can wear thanks to a pair of flexible plastic straps. The bag itself is a tan brown finish with sculpted folds, pockets, straps, and further components sticking out such as a sandy-coloured pad or book and a gun metal tool. These are not removable. There is however a larger hole further up the backpack which can be used to stow the torch that comes as Neel’s third main accessory. The torch is orange with silver detailing and another tiny control panel with buttons. The torch will fit in either hand and when not in use slots into the socket on the backpack. The backpack, once worn does partly counteract Neel’s stability. The Star Wars Black Series release of Neel is a strong recreation of the onscreen character and the costume worn for much of the season. Hasbro has also loaded Neel with accessories to widen his display options, all of which are also engineered to be stowed away on his belt or in his backpack which is a nod to Neel in the show. The only negatives on Neel are the stability issues caused by the position of the ankle rockers - an issue that can be resolved using the other joints to compensate. As with any ‘team’ Neel’s true value will be in a combined display with the rest of the crew and characters from the show. “What if we could go anywhere we want in the whole galaxy?” As Skeleton Crew debuted on Disney+ in December 2024, Hasbro put a full wave of Skeleton Crew figures into immediate stock. The six-figure wave consisted of Jude Law’s mysterious character Jod Na Nawood, Captain Brutus, and the four main characters including Wim. Wim is listed with the ‘At Attin’ subtitle which indicates he may have different outfits throughout the show - in reality, this is the school outfit he wears for the entirety of the adventure which does render the subtitle almost irrelevant. The Skeleton Crew Galaxy Collection has been given a rich Yellow accent colour which is used on the character name and the side artwork with Wim numbered as the 3rd figure in the Skeleton Crew collection. His side artwork connects to Neel before him and onward to Fern. The rear of the box carries a repeat of this artwork and a short synopsis of the series rather than the character - avoiding any specific spoilers. The backing cards of each of the newer boxes are also now aligned to the same accent colour scheme and feature a background. For Wim, this artwork is a planetscape with a couple of buildings that seems to be the Observatory Moon, again at odds with the specific ‘At Attin’ mention after Wim’s name on the box. Wim is wearing his At Attin school uniform, the outfit he has for nearly the entirety of the season. This is made up of two layers of shirts - one brown, one blue - over which is the cream school jacket complete with an emblem on the left side in two gone grey and a red central badge. The jacket also features gold buttons on the opposite lapel and a communicator built into the right arm cuff. Wim’s trousers are a plain dark brown with sculpted pockets but no additional paint applications. The outfit is finished with a pair of grey trainers - again with sculpted fastenings but no additional paint. Proportions for Wim appear to be accurate, and he stands taller than his friend Neel - but slightly shorter than Fern and KB. Wim’s head utilises face print tech to create a good likeness of Ravi Cabot-Conyers, but perhaps one that is a little bit neutral and therefore it doesn’t quite capture Wim’s expressions or mannerisms. The hair is an additional piece, giving a crisp separation between the skin tone and the sculpted hair.  Wim’s first accessory is a similar Walkie-Talkie to the one packed with Neel. While it's the same base piece, Wim’s device lacks the detail on the control panel that we see with Neel’s but then in contrast does have a row of lower buttons painted - something that is left plain grey on Neel’s device. The Walkie-Talkie fits into either of Wim’s gripping hands, but there is no belt clip or socket to hold the device when not in use.  Wim comes with a backpack, a different piece from the other Skeleton Crew children, cast in a similar cream to his jacket. It includes painted grey greebles to one side with brown trim on the upper right and around the two flexible straps. To one side is a cluster of tools which seem to be a rake and a shovel that Wim uses to start digging out the entrance to the Onyx Cinder The rake is coloured gold, with the shovel in orange with a further grey clip or component on top. These are fixed in place and cannot be removed to use as accessories for Wim. What we do get is two accessories that Wim can hold and that can also be stowed in shaped slots in the backpack. The first is a spanner of sorts with a gunmetal grey finish. This is a bit too slim for the gripping hands for Wim and therefore sits a bit loose. The other is a torch, a basic design different to those used by the other kids. It has a dark grey base with silver panels on top and bottom and on the control buttons halfway down the main shaft.  Wim has 17 points of articulation, a decent count considering his smaller frame. This does include a thigh swivel which we understand is being phased out. Wim’s movement is extensive with no bulky clothing to restrict any of the joints. This gives Wim a reasonably wide range of posing options including standing or kneeling and using any of the three included accessories. My only problem is the elbow articulation only reaching 90 degrees, which stops Wim from holding the Walkie-Talkie directly to the side of his head.  The Black Series release of Wim ticks most of the boxes we’d expect with a likeness accurate to the actor and the costume used in the show and a selection of accessories that perhaps try to counteract the smaller frame of the figure and to fill out space in the box. It is a shame that Hasbro couldn’t leave the rake & shovel as further removable accessories considering they appear to be an individual piece. The other issue for me is in the elbow joint which doesn’t go far enough to pose Wim talking on the Walkie-Talkie accessory. He and Neel look great together as does the wider foursome once assembled. The new McFarlane DC Multiverse Gold Label Exclusives of Orion from New Gods and WIldcat from JSA were previewed before Christmas. These are now listed on Target's website for immediate dispatch. Orion will feature his astro-harness along with display base and collector card. Wildcat simply features a display stand and collector card. "What's a litter of runts doing in my starport?" As Skeleton Crew debuted on Disney+ in December 2024, Hasbro put a full wave of Skeleton Crew figures into immediate stock. The six-figure wave consisted of the four main protagonists, Jude Law’s mysterious character, and the impressive Captain Brutus.  Pirate Captain Brutus is named specifically as per his appearance on Port Borgo although this costume did not change in any great detail through the following appearances. The Skeleton Crew Galaxy Collection has been given a rich Yellow accent colour which is used on the character name and the side artwork with Brutus numbered as the 6th figure in the Skeleton Crew collection. His side artwork concludes the initial montage of Skeleton Crew's side art connecting to KB who proceeds him in the run. The rear of the box carries a repeat of this artwork and a short synopsis of the series rather than the character - avoiding any specific spoilers. The backing cards of each of the newer boxes are also now aligned to the same accent colour scheme and feature a background. For Brutus, this artwork is a simple planet scape that doesn’t quite line up with his appearances which have been limited to Port Borgo and his ships.  Brutus is the first Shistavanen in the Black Series and is decked out in an impressive set of layers as seen on screen. The base of Brutus is a brown cast set of trousers and a simple tunic. Over the tunic is a leather effect vest that also incorporates a bandoleer of blaster holsters and some level of shoulder armour with a furred effect. The captain’s coat is engineered by way of sculpted arms with yellow and grey trims and a softer plastic skirt piece that feeds out from a belt to create the coattails. This long coat is similarly coloured to the torso with a lighter grey weathering effect added to represent a dishevelled look. The belt includes both a standard belt with painted buckle and detailing and a lower-slung gunslinger belt with holsters sitting at either side of the Captain’s hips. The costume is finished off with a simple pair of dark boots with a lighter brown trim. The Shistavanen head sculpt is an excellent likeness to the prosthetics seen in the series, with sculpted fur, ears and the wolf-like snout with the mouth exposed in a snarl with off-white teeth and a hint of red gum visible at the edges. Red is also reflected in Brutus’ eyes with the face itself a grey skin tone contrasting slightly with the darker brown ‘beard’ and hair.  Brutus comes with all five of his blasters as seen on Skeleton Crew. These are all different varying from a trio of weapons that look like flintlock pistols alongside a pair of more modern-looking blasters. Each blaster features at least one, sometimes two colour schemes with gunmetal silver used on the newer blasters. The flintlock blasters also come with brown wood look grips, and a selection of trims including more dulled metallic grey and on one of them a bronze trim. There are five holsters across the figure, each sized to a specific blaster. If you use the box art as a guide it is reasonably simple to figure out which fits where. All five blasters can fit into either of Brutus’ hands which are both fitted with an independent trigger finger. Brutus has 17 points of pinless articulation and while the outfit restricts some movement around the legs in particular, there is sufficient range in the upper torso and arms - extended by well-hidden butterfly shoulders - to pose Brutus in firing positions, holding his blasters, or simply threatening his crew. The head too, despite the fur, is quite expressive on a dual joint neck post and can be turned and tilted to add expression to Brutus as posed.  All in all this is an impressive re-creation of the practical effects used to bring Brutus to life on Skeleton Crew and a figure that has a broad range of accessories and paint applications that we have perhaps not quite seen for some time outside of the Deluxe releases. Brutus also continues Hasbro’s long line of impressive Alien species released in the Black Series and perhaps opens up the door slightly for Lak Sivrak. The Marvel Legends X-Men Nemesis BAF Wave was revealed in December 2024 and it has now opened for pre-orders. The 7 figure wave features Wolverine, Cyclops, Gambit, Nightcrawler, Husk, Marrow, and Fabian Cortez with appropriate accessories. Six of the seven include a BAF part to construct the BAF for the wave, Nemesis (Wolverine does not include a BAF part). The wave is reported as an Amazon and Fan Channel release wave with released dates varying across each figure for some reason. In the US this seems to be between March and May 2025, while in the UK Wolverine and Nightcrawler are listed as coming as early as April 2025 with the remainder of the wave are listed as releasing in June and July. Hot on the heels of the 'Black Light' Edition Mr. Freeze from Batman & Robin is this McFarlane DC Multiverse Gold Label 'Frostbite Edition' of Batman from the same movie. The figure is a US Gamestop Exclusive. The variant of the basic Batman release comes with ice freeze effects, a collectors card with a stand, and a display base. It is listed as releasing on the 14th of March 2025. There are no images presently for the packaging, but we assume it will follow the same closed-box collector design as the other Frostbite releases.
