"I swear, we need a tracker just to track our tracker." The first wave of Star Wars Black Series figures from The Acolyte were released in late Summer 2024, Wave 17 would consist entirely of Acolyte figures. At the end of 2025 Wave 20 would top up The Acolyte collection with two further releases in the shape of Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh  and the figure we are reviewing here, Jedi Order Tracker Bazil. Bazil comes in the newer format boxed packaging with the deep red accent colour and side artwork. Bazil is numbered as 07 in The Acolyte Galaxy Collection and ‘should’ therefore connect Mae (06) and Vernestra Rwoh (08). Unfortunately, it seems a numbering error has got Rwoh and Bazil mixed up, so if you want to display your figures boxed with the side mural on show then the pair will have to swap places for the artwork to connect as intended.  The rear of the box has moved away from the shared generic synopsis as seen with the Wave 17 figures, and instead covers a top-line background of Bazil and his role for the Jedi Order. The newer figures now also feature a colour-coded backing card which also includes an illustrative background, Bazil’s background image is the foliage from Khofar. The Tynnan tracker is a brand new figure and created in his tracking gear as seen during his scenes through the back half of The Acolyte season in 2024. The torso is a beige plastic with a softer belt and skirt section in the same colour sitting over the waist. The belt and its various pouches is painted in dark brown, as is the sculpted shoulder strap, with the clasp picked out in gold. Just above the buckle and sculpted as part of the torso is a rectangular panel with inset sculpted greebles. The baggy sleeves give way to a pair of thinner sleeves with the right in silver, and the left in beige and grey. The hands are made up of some fingerless gloves with an open panel on the rear of the hands with Bazil’s fur showing through here, on each finger and at the exposed tip. Bazil’s tracker costume concludes with a pair of lighter brown trousers with dark brown knee pads, and furred trimmed lower legs - it's unclear if the fur is that of Bazil themselves or is part of a pair of enclosed boots.  The head sculpt is a strong recreation of the onscreen prosthetics with sculpted fur texture and a two-tone finish from dark brown fur above the eyes that also covers Bazil’s nose and lighter beige fur on the cheeks and chin. The mouth is partly open with the teeth exposed and the eyes picked out in orange and black. Bazil is wearing a flight hat with the straps left unfastened and left flowing down over Bazil’s shoulders. The helmet itself is grey with a turquoise panel and a set of grey goggles that are moveable down over Bazil’s eyes for a variant look. Our Tynnan has a single accessory, one of the Pip droids originally included with Osha. This features orange, blue, grey and black details which are well applied considering the scale. Pip also comes with an articulated head, allowing the top piece to be rotated and angled. Pip was designed for use with Osha but fits well enough into either of Bazil’s hands.  Bazil has 14 points of articulation on his smaller frame with a limited level of movement due to his stockier arms and legs. The joints do provide Bazil with plenty of display options, either holding Pip, adjusting his goggles, or on the move tracking his quarry. All the joints are tight and secure and Bazil is very secure once posed.  Putting aside the feelings from some quarters about The Acolyte, it is nice to see a release from the series that has a very different look to that of the Jedi who made up much of the first wave - and of course, were further bolstered by Vernestra’s release alongside Bazil. Like most of the alien species tackled by Hasbro, Bazil is a good likeness to the onscreen costume and prosthetics with articulation designed around his smaller frame to good effect. There is also a well-engineered feature to drop his goggles down over his eyes, but I was disappointed with the accessories. While I understand the inclusion of Pip, I wanted to see at least one other piece for Bazil to interact with such as the clothing he uses to track Master Kelnacca. It is good to see Hasbro continuing to put out supporting characters, even those with limited screen time, and regardless of The Acolyte’s reception the small collection is starting to fill out nicely with the addition of Rwoh and Bazil - although The Stranger is still an elusive gap at the time of writing. It has been well documented on social media that Master Replicas were in attendance at the UK Toy Fair at London's Olympia with a mock-up set of new Star Trek figures on display. The line is initially named the Delta Series and will feature figures from the newer Star Trek series including Picard, Discovery, and Strange New Worlds. On display in London were figures of Picard and Riker from Picard, Spock from Strange New Worlds, and Boimler from Below Decks. It is widely reported that these are very early proof of concepts with more formal details due in the future to confirm the next steps for the proposed line including scale, and potential release details. In terms of the overall Trek licence, we understand that figures are split by properties with Nacelle Toys having access to the older shows and movies, while Master Replicas have the newer properties to pick from. The new Medicom MAFEX Erik Killmonger from Black Panther, as previewed last week, is now up for pre-order at MAFEX stockists with a November 2025 release date. The new S.H. Figuarts release of Spider-Man Noir and Spider-Ham is confirmed as a June 2025 release. The set from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will feature Spider-Man Noir with a removable hat and soft goods coat, a selection of hands, and web effect pieces. Spider-Ham will not be fully articulated and instead has alternative head, arm, and leg pieces to vary poses including arms with web-firing effects, and a second set with his mallet. Wave 2 of the re-release of McFarlane's 5-inch The Walking Dead figures will feature The Governor, Tyreese, Andrea, and Glenn. “But I was going into Tosche Station to pick up some power converters!” Two of the most iconic looks from Star Wars A New Hope were the original costumes of Luke and Leia as worn for the majority of the film. In the Star Wars Black Series, these figures had been previously released in 2016 with the outfits relying on a majority of soft goods to recreate the on-screen looks. While these two figures had some tweaks along the way, including a revised head sculpt for Leia and face print tech for Luke, they still felt outdated vs the current output of the Black Series. Wave 20 of the Galaxy Collection was released in late 2024 and within it were fully revisited figures of Farmboy Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa from A New Hope. This time round the figures were rebuilt without any soft goods, using sculpted clothing. Both Luke and Leia were part of the wider Galaxy Collection for a New Hope and used the established orange accent colour on the newer format squared-off box with artwork to the right-hand side that connects to a wider montage. Luke is number 09 and follows on from his sister Leia at number 08. The newer boxes now also feature a colour-coordinated backing card complete with a background image - for Luke this is a view of the sands of Tatooine. Luke is a brand new figure with no re-used parts from the older 2016 release . It includes a sculpted white tunic which is split at the waist by a belt, disguising the waist joint, and then flowing into a short skirt piece in softer plastic. The legs are cast in more of a cream finish with the wrapped knee high boots in light brown. There is no weathering on Luke despite his time on Tatooine, with the only paint added on the belt in dark brown with silver rivets and silver & black on a cannister to one side. vs 2019 Carded Luke Release (right) The head sculpt is a new likeness, and while much improved on the old Farmboy Luke figure - even with the facial print update from 2021 - Hasbro are still struggling to capture Mark Hamill to the same standard as we see on the Leia from the same wave. The mop of hair is also not quite right with a darker finish to Luke’s straw coloured hair during A New Hope and lacking a bit of shape where it should kick out in unruly curls at the back.  The accessories for Luke start with a long pouch on the rear of his belt. This is not fixed in place and rather hooked over the belt piece. This represents the actual screen costume where the long tool pouch was worn in the early scenes at the Lars homestead, but then is removed once he sets off to find R2-D2 and then onward to his adventure with Obi-Wan. This is an interesting and indepth level of accuracy considering its at the back of the figure and is a nice touch to choose your own belt configuration even if you can’t immediately see it.  Luke also comes with his Macrobinoculars, cast in black with silver detailing. These have been updated from the earlier release where they clipped onto Luke’s belt. The newer version has a socket at the rear that can then hang on the hook on Luke’s belt. The same hook can also be used to hang the lightsaber hilt that is also included. This is the latest version of Anakin’s saber with a silver body, black fins on the grip, and a gold switch. A translucent blade clips into this for a lit lightsaber which then can be held in either or both of Luke’s hands. Articulation supports the use of both of these accessories with 17 points in total, all pin-less. The arms include elbows that bend beyond 90 degrees to hold the binoculars to Luke’s eyes, and with butterfly shoulders to support two handed saber positions. The legs feature a single knee joint which now also rotates in place of the older thigh swivel, and ankle rockers which are ratcheted and secure when Luke is posed. The legs will reach seated positions thanks to a split in the skirt piece - so Luke is compatible with the Landspeeder if you wish to have this new Luke driving into Mos Eisley. Like Princess Leia , Farmboy Luke is a strong argument on having sculpted clothing rather than soft goods. He improves massively on the original release, and unlike Leia there is not much in the loss of articulation with the 2024 Luke able to do more or less everything the older figure could. Accessories are OK and are an obvious choice. It might have also been nice to include Luke’s poncho and/or cycler rifle to create more options for display - but these pieces all exist in the line already and are compatible with the new Luke. With Luke and Leia now updated and enhanced I hope that Hasbro will follow suit with some of the older classic characters who are now pushing 10 years old - most notably A New Hope Han Solo. Following last week's reveal of the NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Nightwatcher figures of Leonardo, Donatello, and Michelangelo another Nightwatcher from The Last Ronin: Lost Years has been revealed. The Nightwatcher Casey Jones looks to feature two head options, removable hood & cloak, alternative hands, and three of his trademark weapons - two baseball bats and a cricket bat. It is an Ultimate release in a closed box with opening front cover and artwork from the comic book source material. The new Nightwatcher Casey Jones release from NECA is listed as a general release for Spring 2025. Based on issue #3, this figure stands in 7-inch scale and features a stylized paint job for a comic-authentic look. NECA are marking the 50th Anniversary of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre with new 7-inch scale Ultimate releases for 2025. We saw the initial Leatherface announced earlier this week, and e now have the reveal of a second figure the 'Pretty Woman' Ultimate Leatherface. The newer boxes have updated the figure backing card to one using the same accent colour and a background image. Leia’s backing card features a background of the innards of the Tantive IV where she prepares her message and gives it to R2.  Princess Leia is recreated in the flowing white dress she wears for the majority of her scenes in A New Hope. This is almost an entirely new figure, but if you peek under the lower skirt the legs are carried forward from the older 2016 figure  but now coloured in white rather than flesh-toned. The robes are all cast in white with the only paintwork on the costume focused around the silver detail of her belt that sits as part of the lower skirt piece. The proportions and flow of Leia’s costume are excellent and a marked improvement on the older soft goods figure. vs 2016/7 Original Release (right) The head sculpt is new and a strong representation of Carrie Fisher. It is on par with some of the best Leia likenesses we’ve had so far, particularly the Hoth & Bespin figures. The main hair is sculpted as part of the head and then painted which does leave a very minor unpainted edge where the hair meets Leia’s forehead. The side buns are additional parts, fixed into place to complete the likeness. You can choose to have Leia displayed with the hood of her dress up or down. This is achieved by including two individual hood pieces - one that lies flat down the back of the figure, and the second to replace it to frame the head. You can only change these by popping off the head and then positioning the relevant hood piece. The raised hood is a bit trickier to engage as the head has to be placed within the hood before connecting it back onto the neck peg. Leia features two further accessories, both blasters. The first is her Defender Sporting Blaster Pistol, her weapon on the Tantive IV. This is the same accessory as the original releases, cast in black with limited detail. It fits snugly into Leia’s right hand. The other accessory is the E-11 Blaster Rifle she uses as they escape from the Death Star. This is the newer version of the E-11, and like the original figure,e it is too large to fit accurately into Leia’s hand - ideally a second right hand to use this blaster should have been included. The trade-off with sculpted robes and dresses is the reduction in overall articulation. Leia has 19 points of articulation with the upper torso entirely pin-less, but the lower legs feature double-jointed pinned knees having originated with the older release. The arms are expressive thanks to the butterfly shoulders and Leia can easily hold and wield both blasters or gesture or clasp her hands together. The legs are extensive in their movement options too but held in check by the skirt piece. While the skirt it split at either side to open up some wider stances, Leia will not be kneeling or sitting.  Leia, like Luke from the same wave, showcases exactly what the Black Series is capable of when the soft goods use is abandoned or at the least restricted and supported by sculpted components. Leia is a huge improvement on the older release both in likeness to Carrie Fisher at the time of A New Hope, and in recreating the costume. The ability to display the hood up or down is well-engineered, and the articulation works with the body to support posing - although the lack of kneeling does prevent a true recreation of her kneeling to load her message to R2-D2. Death Star Plans not included The accessories are as to be expected, but considering the E-11 doesn’t quite fit in her hand I might have liked to have seen this swapped out for the Death Star plans which already exist in the line. "We don't control the Force" Following the release of the Star Wars Black Series Wave 17 which was dedicated entirely to characters from The Acolyte, it was confirmed that Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh and the tracker Bazil would expand the Acolyte Galaxy Collection as Wave 20 releases. Originally planned to be a Spring 2025 release, the Wave actually landed (in the UK at least) in late December 2024.   Vernestra is numbered as 08 in The Acolyte collection but she should actually be number 07 as her deep red accented side artwork connects to that of Mae (Assassin) who is 06 and then on to Bazil (Jedi Tracker). The rear of the box carries the same image as the side, while the blurb gives a very brief overview of the Jedi Master’s role in The Acolyte. Inside, the backing card - now colour coded to the collection - also features a background image from the Jedi Temple. Vernestra Rwoh was seen wearing two distinct outfits during the events of The Acolyte, Hasbro has chosen her formal Jedi robes worn in the Jedi Temple for the figure which does provide a contrast to the ‘Mission’ Robes worn by the other Jedi released so far. The inner robes are made of white finish plastic with gold-painted trim around the collar. The skirt is a softer plastic piece and incorporates a simple belt painted in two-tone brown with a gold centre. The skirt is split at either side to aid articulation, and underneath are sculpted legs with a wrapped textured finish. These legs are re-used from the Dark Side Rey  from The Rise of Skywalker. Over the inner robes is a soft goods, light brown & hooded sleeveless robe. This uses the usual ‘Jedi’ fabric with a soft light finish that hangs reasonably well on the figure. The hood is tailored to sit well enough over Vernestra’s head - it can then be folded back and down out of the way with a bit of work. The lack of sleeves do tend to have the robe sliding off at the arms, and it therefore takes a little bit of work to pose. The head sculpt presents a very good likeness to actor Rebecca Henderson in full Mirialan makeup including the markings across the top of her head. Facial printing is used to capture the realistic detailing of the eyes and mouth. Rwoh comes with her lightsaber which is a simple hilt in gun-metal grey with a central gold trim. Into this slots a translucent purple lightsaber blade. The hilt can be slotted into Vernestra’s belt by way of a plug-in socket or will fit in either hands. There is however a considerable miss here as Vernestra is renowned in the High Republic books as using a light whip - also seen briefly in in the series - but a choice has been made not to develop or include a light whip blade to use with the saber hilt.  Vernestra has 19 points of articulation, retaining thigh swivels due to the use of the older legs from Rey, whilst also featuring a hidden set of butterfly joints behind the torso robes as well as a dual-jointed neck. Her wider outfit does prevent excessively dramatic posing but she is capable of a selection of lightsaber poses. Jedi Master Vernestra Rwoh is a visual figure with a good likeness to her scenes in the Jedi Temple during The Acolyte. The soft goods do work, but with limitations, and considering her lower robes are cast plastic, the argument around articulation is a little lost - and a sculpted outer robe similar to Princess Leia from the same Wave 20 may have been more visual. The other miss is the lack of a light-whip which I appreciate had seconds of screen time in The Acolyte, but is something that carries a lot of weight for those of us invested in the High Republic novels and comics.
