The Hasbro G.I. Joe offerings at New York Toy Fair were limited in terms of new reveals, but we do get a look at some of the more recent announcements including the Retro releases of Flint, Cover Girl, and the Cobra Tele-Viper. There was also a full look at the G.I. Joe Legacy Search & Rescue Firefighter, and the new SNAKE armor which is now confirmed as opening to accept a pilot. The recently announced SDCC 2025 exclusive of the Cold Slither band 4-pack had its packaging on show. And there were displays of Law & Order, alongside those of Footloose, Frag Viper, Blowtorch, Darklon, and a new 2-pack of Divers G.I. Joe vs Cobra. Further displays featured Breaker, Crystal Ball, and the Snake Eyes with Polar Bear set. Next to these were the new Beach Head & Quick Kick 2-Pack and a Cobra Attack Glider and Pilot. In another formal release during the New York Toy Fair weekend, NECA has shared the full details for their new Ultimate Beetlejuice figure from Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice in his iconic black and white striped suit. The 7-inch release includes Beetlejuice with two head options, extra hands, a Betelgeuse flier and Baby Beetlejuice. This is packed into an Ultimate box with opening front cover. NECA's new Ultimate releases of Matt Hooper and Quint from Jaws were spoiled a couple of weeks back through BestBuy website listings. Now as New York Toy Fair 2025 gets underway we have a full and formal reveal of both 7-inch Ultimate figures ahead of their Summer 2025 release. Hooper is as seen on his arrival on Amity Island and features the likeness of Richard Dreyfus across four different head sculpts. These include with his hat, and without. There are also extra hands - gloved and ungloved - and a swap out set of arms to allow him to be displayed without his jacket. Hooper also comes with Scuba tank, duffel bag, fishing spear, and a pair of polystryrene cups - one crushed. Sam Quint, played by Robert Shaw, will come in his Orca fishing gear complete with three different head options - one with his baseball cap, one with bandana, and one without. The arms on the figure can be swapped allowing for a jacket-on or jacket-off display, and hands are provided for gloved and ungloved options. Quint comes with harpoon gun, rifle, machette, baseball bat, beer can and crushed can. Both Quint and Hooper will come in retro inspired closed box packaging with artwork paying homage to the original 1975 Jaws promotional material. " It's not entirely unpleasant seeing you again " To date, the only figure released of Wilson Fisk from Marvel Television is from Hawkeye in his white jacket and black shirt. At the end of Echo and onward into Daredevil: Born Again, Kingpin was seen donning more traditional suits as he ran for Mayor of New York. While a future figure is very likely, there is a relatively easy kitbash available now to create a Mayor Wilson Fisk. You will need the original Kingpin figure from Hawkeye for the head & hands, while the body comes from the Happy Hogan figure. The head and hands are easily swapped out after a short dip in some hot (not boiling) water. This does leave a variance in colour between Happy Hogan's neck and WIlson Fisks head. There is a further step that you can take by swapping out the entire neck section. These are fixed in place via a plug at the back of the neck and a larger socket at the base. A longer spell in hot water will soften the plastic enough to pull out - you may need to use some pliers, being carefgul not to damage the plastic. Repeat this for both figures until the two neck sections are released. The Kingpin neck isn't a direct fit into the Happy Hogan body and you will need a sharp knife to trim or cut away in full the peg in the Happy Hogan collar. You will also need to trim away some of the square peg at the base of the Fisk neck to get it to fit into the other body. The only other addition I made was a small 'Vote Fisk' badge which is actually a sliver of the neck peg painted with a blue and red stripe. The look is not exact to what we see in the Daredevil: Born Again Trailer as in those scenes Fisk's tie is striped - those confident with paints could paint the black tie up to match the onscreen look. After years of waiting, we are getting a Bruce the shark from Jaws from NECA - just not the one we were perhaps expecting. In an interesting move, the Shark from Jaws will be released as a Jaws 'fishing game' giving us a 15-inch long shark with spring-loaded jaw and inserted 'debris' which you need to fish out. The debris includes some movie-specific accessories like the Diver's Tank. The game is obviously the key selling point here. But NECA has gone with a realistic look to the shark. At 1/10 scale, the 15 inch shark translates to circa 3.8m long - which is only half the size as the 7m shark in the movie. It may provide a display option alongside the incoming releases of Hooper and Quint in the 1/10 Ultimate Series. Game of Jaws will be a May 2025 release. NECA have revealed a second Xenomorph release from 2024's Alien: Romulus. The Ultimate XX121 Alien will join the Scorched Xenomorph from the film. It includes four pairs of hands, a pair of chestbursters, and a facehugger. The NECA Xenomorph XX121 is a Quarter 3 (June-August) release. Previewed as digital images on the IGN Fan Fest 2025 are new McFarlane offerings for Mortal Kombat. These are badged as Mortal Kombat Klassics and feature single releases of Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Liu Kang, and Mileena. There will also be a two pack featuring variants of Sub-Zero and Mileena. There was also a surprise reveal of McFarlane releasing a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 'Page Puncher'. The 5 inch figure of Leonardo includes two heads, extra hands, alternative feet, and katana blades with sheath. The figure will come with a TMNT comic book. “Yes… Yes… Yes… Yes…” Grogu’s short-lived IG-12 robot suit was released in the Star Wars Black Series in 2024. The set was a Deluxe release using the wider packaging format but following the same principles established for the new squared-off boxes with a matt black base colour and the Galaxy Collection Mandalorian accent colour of deep orange used on the text and accompanying artwork. Grogu & IG-12 are number 41 in the series, with the side artwork connecting into the single release of the Shriek Hawk  on one side, and then onto the Imperial Armored Commando on the other.  The artwork neatly ties in both Grogu in the IG-12 frame along with the Anzellan droidsmiths. On the back of the box the background for the machine is covered briefly alongside the same illustration. The card back for the figure, in the same orange accent colour, incorporates some of the architecture from Greef Karga’s office on Nevarro where Grogu first pilots the machine. We will start with the Anzellans who built IG-12 for Grogu with two of them included in the set. These do seem to utilise parts from the original Babu Frik figure. They stand just an inch high and feature sculpted faces complete with individual facial hair - one with a shaped beard, and the other with an elongated moustache. The faces are painted in skin tones with white on the hair and a gloss black for their eyes. Each Anzellan is wearing a headpiece and hood in grey-blue with grey and brown robes.  Each Anzellan has three points of articulation, with the ability to raise each arm independently on a basic shoulder joint. The third joint is built into the waist allowing a swivel. The lower legs are fixed as a pair after the waist joint with the splayed feet providing a stable base for standing our droidsmiths securely on display. Grogu is a new variant following similar principles to the other releases we’ve seen since 2019. The body in particular looks slimmer and taller with Grogu’s feet now visible under the robes. The feet, hands and head are cast in green plastic that then plugs into the cast sandy brown arms and central robes with some variation added to the collar of the robes, and around the cuffs of the sleeves. Grogu’s features are picked out with black for the eyes and some pinker skin tones over the green around his cheeks and in his ears.  Grogu stands an inch high and also features articulation, with five useable joints allowing this head to rotate within its socket, the arms to be raised and extended, and the wrists to be rotated. While the feet are jointed as such where they plug into the base of the figure - there is no real movement available. The IG droids have existed in the Star Wars Black Series since IG-88’s release in 2015, with the same base figure used to release the first IG-11 figure from The Mandalorian in 2019. Both of these releases always felt undersized in the line with the onscreen IG droid standing - as seen clearest in The Mandalorian - with its entire head taller than a standard human, something the original body lacked. This new IG-12 release faces in to that height issue with a full new IG droid figure built from scratch.  vs IG-11 from 2019 (right) The majority of the robotic elements are cast in dull gun-metal grey with plenty of complex robotic workings built into the sculpt including visible pistons, fixings and hydraulics. Elements on the arms and legs are given a partial casing in a sandy brown with further bronzed glossy components around the shoulder joints. Pipework extending from the main body around the legs and the rear of the torso in particular are added as individual soft rubberised sections. The overall look is not accentuated, as we might expect with any wash, weathering or dry brushing to show off the complex sculpt. The head is also new and increased in size vs the original. It uses the same gunmetal plastic with protruding sensors alongside recessed eyes and lenses. Like the body, it lacks any paintwork other than the recessed lenses which are picked out in white.  The set comes into its own when the IG-12 droid unit is combined with its pilot. The chest section on IG-12 is on a pivot which folds down revealing the pilot cavity within. Like the outer body, the cavity contains no paintwork or additional decor save a black painted padded backrest. On the folded-down section, there are two joystick controllers which are both articulated. The Anzellan droidsmiths fit into the pilot chair with ease, with their articulated shoulders allowing the arms to be raised to line the hands up with the joysticks - and with patience, you can probably get them to grip them.  Grogu is a slightly tighter fit, mainly due to his ears, and needs easing into the pilot’s compartment ears first. Grogu’s arm articulation also allows the arms and hands to line up with the joystick controls and a rudimentary grip is established. With the pilot in the chair, the IG-12 unit can be posed using its 22 points of articulation (including the two poseable joysticks). While the original IG unit had rubberised grommets around its elbow and knee joints, the new version sticks to sculpted plastic while still looking like the black corrugated joints seen on the original props. The legs are able to provide a stable footing in upright positions, but lack the hip movement for anything over extensive. The feet are a bit tricky to get on with and finding a stable position for IG-12 takes a bit of time. While the original IG figure was notoriously difficult to stand on its own, the IG-12 has stability once this footing is established.  The waist joint is a basic swivel, while the head features a neck joint and two further head segment joints, all of which rotate independently allowing a variety of head configurations. The arms have a full range of motion, including a cleverly incorporated wrist that features both a swivel joint and a scissor joint for the pronged hands, allowing them to open and close. Despite this grip function, IG-12 is not supplied with any accessories or weaponry. Although I can confirm if you have a spare E-11 blaster or similar, the clawed hands can hold it in place.  Blaster not included The Star Wars Black Series Deluxe release of IG-12 with Grogu and the Anzellan droidsmiths has plenty of positives, not least choosing to correctly resize the IG body and potentially open up the option in the future for a re-release of IG-11 and IG-88 at their correct height. The figure demonstrates a lot of engineered components and both the articulation and the pilot compartment with its articulated twin joysticks are impressive. The smaller scale figures all incorporate new parts and sculpting and despite their small size,e come with a neat and tidy paint job and basic articulation.  The only downside on the set is back with the IG-12 droid and the paintwork. While the basic colours are there, the droid components still look too much like cheap grey plastic and there has been little to bring out the depth of sculpt - a darker wash and some weathering would have finished the IG-12 figure perfectly. It has been announced that the DC licence is returning to Mattel in 2026. The multi-year deal will allow Mattel to develop a full range of DC action figures as well as playsets, accessories, role play items and collectible lines. The first products are expected in the 2nd half of 2026. While no official statement has been made by McFarlane, this new deal will mean that McFarlane's current line of DC action figures will come to a close when their deal expires at the end of 2025. “Those aren't Mandalorians.” The Imperial Armored Commando, as featured in the finale of Season 3 of the Mandalorian, was released as a Star Wars Black Series figure at the back end of 2024. It was part of Wave 19 of the Star Wars Black Series Galaxy Collection, a wave that featured figures from Ahsoka, Andor, The Phantom Menace, and The Mandalorian and whose release dates were staggered from early Autumn onward. The Imperial Armored Commando is part of The Mandalorian Galaxy Collection, using the established deep orange accent colour on the text and artwork. The figure is number 42 in The Mandalorian collection with the side artwork connecting to release 41, the Deluxe release of Grogu and IG-12. At the time of writing, there is no further corresponding figures announced fully that will continue the montage past the Commando - although it is likely to be Moff Gideon or the Praetorian Guard from the same Season 3 finale. The rear of the box carries some basic information about the Commando and uses the Super Commando title that was established in Rebels but isn’t used on the packaging. The inserted card back, colour coded to The Mandalorian colour schem e, features an embedded image of the Imperial base on Mandalore. The figure is entirely new in its design but uses the principles established for armoured troopers in that it uses a drab brown undersuit attaching the armour panels cast in gloss white over the top or as connecting parts. Only the thigh panels appear to be painted over the undersuit and these are slightly duller than the other elements and with a minimal level of paint bleed. Paint bleed is also evident if you look carefully at the boots where the brown is painted over the white on the piece just under the knee joint.   Colour is added to the Armoured body by way of red indicators on the chest and wrist gauntlets. These are lit on the actual prop costumes - but a duller red is used on the figure when perhaps a brighter finish might have replicated what should be an illuminated panel. Further controls and components on the upper arms and on the right side of the chest in grey are all neatly painted with a combination of grey, white, and red. The right wrist gauntlet features a sculpted, then painted, mini-rocket in silver and black. The helmet is, as we see on screen, a variation on the Mandalorian helmet with more angular features and elements of Stormtrooper design including the side vents and mouthpiece. The helmet is cast in gloss white with the lower half coloured a flat grey. There is then a painted black ridge line just above a gloss black visor, and beneath this the black mouth section. Our Commando comes with a jet pack that is also cast in gloss white with grey detailing and black-painted thrusters at the base. It slots into three sockets on the reverse of the Trooper and locks securely in place. While the thrusters look like they feature a socket, this is not particularly deep and it can’t accept the existing thruster effects included with the Darktrooper - a shame for a figure that can be displayed in an in-flight position. The Armored Commando features two weapons, a small side arm blaster and a larger blaster rifle. The smaller blaster is black cast with a reasonable amount of sculpted detail and a tiny silver painted panel near the barrel. It fits into the holster on the trooper's wrist or into the right trigger finger hand.  The larger blaster rifle is similarly black cast, with sufficient sculpted detailing and silver panels above the trigger and part way down the barrel. It fits into the same right hand where the trigger finger engages into position. The left hand is then shaped in a grip to hold the underside of the barrel for two-handed carry and firing positions.  Articulation is entirely pinless and like most Imperial Troopers the joints are disguised and incorporated around the armour. There are 17 points of articulation in total with the arms inclusive of wrist, elbow, shoulder, and butterfly joints to maximise poses with either blaster. The head is dual-jointed allowing the head to swivel but also for the neck to pivot back and forth extended movement. The legs do lose the thigh swivel, with rotation added into the knee joint. This improves the overall look of the legs without sacrificing any movement and the Trooper can still kneel or sit. The articulation also supports flying poses if you do want to drop the Armored Commando onto a third-party flight stand.  Hasbro is pretty adept now with Imperial Trooper formats and are also experienced with modular Mandalorian figures - both of which has served them well in engineering and assembling this new Mandalorian-inspired Imperial Armored Commando. The white gloss beskar amour is glossy and bright while the undersuit looks duller and padded providing a good contrast. The helmet is angular while Mandalorian in styling, with the white and grey broken up in places by splashes of red indicators and panels. Articulation is as expected and the weaponry is standard fare for a Black Series release.  The figure is of course an Army Builder so we should be thankful for a general release rather than an exclusive. There is also a variant we might expect in the future with two of the Commando sporting red panels on their helmet and wrist gauntlets as assigned guards for Moff Gideon.
