When Diamond Select acquired Gentle Giant, there was some speculation around them being able to produce Star Wars action figures in their 7 inch Select Scale. It seems a deal has been struck to allow them to do just that, with new Select Star Wars figures being sold exclusively via Disney Stores and Parks.
The line is badged as Collectors Edition, has launched with two iconic characters, and bad guys to boot. Darth Maul, from The Phantom Menace, will be presented without his cloak and as seen in the final battle with Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan. He will be packed with his dual lightsaber that can be split in two and also has removable blades. There is also an FX clip on piece for the blade as though deflecting a blaster shot. And he will have two pairs of hands - with the saber blade gripping hands, and the open force effect versions.
The packaging will be the usual Diamond oversized blister card with a clean white background and non-specific Star Wars logo and icons. The packaging is very much in the style of the other Star Wars Disney Store products, and very similar to the smaller 5 inch Toy Box line.
The figures will be globally released, and are already showing up in UK Disney Stores.
