There is a level of normality returning to the convention scene for 2022 after two years of disruption and San Diego Comic-Con in July 2022 is now starting to creep onto the horizon, particularly as Diamond Select Toys have today unveiled their 2022 convention exclusives.
The action figure offerings are all very much themed around retro packaging and styling and repack existing Select 7-inch figures with new deco in place, and into retro-inspired packaging. Each of the single figures will cost $25 in the US and will be sold at SDCC, and via a pre-order program direct from Diamond (including International shipping options) and potentially also via Previews & Diamond stockists.
Up first are some new additions from Cobra Kai, starting with VHS boxed versions of Danny Larusso and Johnny Lawrence. Each set features a repack of the existing figure - Danny in his Miyagi-Do Karate Suit, and Johnny in the Cobra Kai colours. These are then packed into retro clamshell VHS-style boxes along with a collectors card and a display base. Each set is limited to 4000 units.
There is a third Cobra Kai set that is listed as the Cobra Kai Retro 2-Pack. This set features both Larusso and Lawrence, each in their classic Karate suits. While there is no image as yet for the box, it is confirmed in the blurb to be a full-colour opening window box. This set retails at $80.

A Diamond Select Toys release! Revisit the fight that started it all, with this exclusive two-pack featuring Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso! The two karate students-turned-teachers are wearing their classic karate gis, and each 7-inch figure features over 16 points of articulation. The pair come packaged in a folding, full-color window box. Sculpted by Rocco Tartamella and Chris Dahlberg, packaging design by Jack Tsai! Limited to 4000 pieces.
The VHS clamshell packaging is also used on the other two SDCC Action Figure Exclusives. There is a repack of the Select Bruce Lee figure, and this set also includes the alternative hands and nunchucks, including the nunchucks with motion effect. Bruce is joined in the line by John Wick who comes in his black suit from the first movie and is armed with a pistol and a machine gun. Display bases are also included with Bruce Lee and John Wick, and these are also limited to 4000 pieces.

This fully articulated 7-inch figure of Bruce Lee features him shirtless, in black pants, and includes nunchucks, escrima sticks, a bo staff and a display base.
