Hasbro announced as Master Toy Licensee for the new Ghostbusters movie

It has been announced, via The Hollywood Reporter, that Hasbro and Sony have agreed a deal for Hasbro to be the master toy licensee for the new Ghostbusters movie due in 2020.

"As we build up to release our new Ghostbusters film next year, it was a natural choice to work with Hasbro to develop an all-new line of toys that not only celebrates the new film but also brings us back to the roots of the original film and toy line. Hasbro has a proven track record of working with well-known IP to make a variety of high-quality toys and figures that appeal to people of all ages, and we are excited to leverage this expertise to bring new product experiences to Ghostbusters fans around the world.” - Jamie Stevens, executive vice president with Sony Pictures Consumer Products

We had a teaser of course of this deal when Hasbro showed off the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Transformer, and now it seems we can look forward to action figures and more in 2020. While a collectors line - like Star Wars or Marvel - is not guaranteed, it is a good likelihood considering the way Hasbro have approached other movie and tv licences recently.

We look forward to seeing what Hasbro have for us in 2020, and of course this is a neat return of sorts to the roots of Ghostbusters figures which was held by Kenner in the 1980's and 90's with the Real Ghostbusters Toy Line - Kenner going on to be taken over by and absorbed by Hasbro.
