Black Panther Movie Teaser Trailer (and our first figure speculation)

The first teaser trailer for Marvel's Black Panther has dropped, and it looks visually stunning.

As always let the speculation for figure releases begin....

We would expect Diamond to release the main character Black Panther, but that would be it. We would expect them to save their limited slots for Infinity War later in the year. With that release we hope they can give us masked and unmasked head. But after seeing the recent issue with Star-Lord and uncertainty over Daredevil it seems unlikely unless Disney Store step in to take an exclusive. Disney I suspect will re-issue the recent Select comic book Black Panther to coincide with the movie.

That is not a bad thing as there isn't much in the trailer we would want at this stage as a figure. Variations would likely come from Hasbro in their Legends line. Expect here a wave made up of both movie and comic book Panther related figures, with a BAF (scroll down for a small spoiler) quite possibly from the movie. Panther and Klaue would be two we would expect to see from Legends, perhaps Shuri as well - but we are yet to see her in costume fully.

It will also be interesting to see if Hasbro work in a set of their limited articulation 12" and 6" figures for Black Panther.

The other manufacturers like Hot Toys, SH Figuarts and MAFEX would expected to stick to the main protagonist only. I wouldn't put it past NECA to also add Black Panther to their 18" quarter-scale Marvel Cinematic Universe figures.

The movie is scheduled for a release in February 2018

* Our prediction for the Marvel Legends BAF would be the as yet unseen Man-Ape, played by Winston Duke (image shows comic book version)
