  • Review: McFarlane Warhammer 40k Elite Edition Captain Cyrus from Dawn of War IV

“In a few centuries there will not be a Blood Raven left who hasn't been molded by this thinking." McFarlane launched their Elite series in 2025, a new format across their action figure lines and licences where figures would be given a premium treatment in terms of decor, accessories, and often articulation. The Elite Series came with a higher price point, but for that extra spend, you would receive a figure much more enhanced than a standard release. The first of these were across video game franchises like Fallout and Doom, but in Spring 2026, there was the release of the first Elite format figure from the Warhammer 40k line. This sat alongside the Spring 2026 wave of basic figures that included the Space Wolves Grey Hunter, Dark Angels Sternguard Veteran , and the Blood Ravens Infiltrator, the latter being a direct companion piece to the Elite release of Captain Cyrus of the Blood Ravens from the same source material, the upcoming 2026 Dawn of War IV video game.  The Elite Series packaging is not disimiilar to the larger format boxes the Warhammer 40k line moved to in 2024. The width and height dimensions are practically the same, while the Elite box is deeper. The window on the box front takes up most of the space, wrapping over into the top flap. This is surrounded in black and is inclusive of the source material logo, that of Warhammer 40k, and subsequent logos for Games Workshop and the Dawn of War video game. A strip to the right of this is in a contrasting white and in gold text confirms this as an Elite Edition release. This same gold on white takes up the entirety of the right-hand spine of the box, while the left-hand side uses artwork from Dawn of War with a generic Blood Ravens marine overlooking a larger Blood Ravens force advancing against a curved horizon of a planet. It is here that the character is confirmed as Captain Cyrus, and the release number 07 in the Elite Edition collection. This same artwork is used again on the back of the box with no further text other than a couple more logos and some legal wording.  The newer Warhammer 40k figures have been arriving in an internal black tray and secured in place with ties. For the Elite releases, we have most of the parts in an inner tray in clear plastic. We've then gone back to having the stand and collector card blister packed to the backing card, which means the card is destroyed if you access these parts. For an Elite Edition collector series, it seems disappointing that you wouldn't be able to repack your figure fully if you'd accessed the stand, the collector card, and the Elite points card. Elite Edition releases all have a randomly packed Elite Points card, which provides a code for redemption against points on the McFarlane website. In our Captain Cyrus, we received the lowest and most common 50 points card - you ned a minimum of 150 points to redeem at present, getting an accessory pack in return. While there is no character background on the packaging, you can refer to the included Collector Card, which features the golden Elite Edition logo in foil print and a third use of the Dawn of War IV Blood Ravens image. The reverse of this card, also featuring gold foil, shows a small image of Captain Cyrus and a short datafile that doesn’t actually give any details on Cyrus, but rather the organisation of the Adeptus Astrates and how a company falls under the command of a Captain. Captain Cyrus is built onto the Scout Marine base body that has been used on prior releases like the Ultramarines and Blood Angel Reivers, and on the Blood Ravern Infiltrator from the corresponding Spring 2026 wave. As is standard for the WH40k Marines, the armoured panels are cast in the base colour and then connected via black joints to assemble the figure. The ‘Elite’ status of Cyrus can then be seen on the wider embellishments of this armour, which start at the feet, where gold skull emblems sit on the base armour. There is a similar, larger skull on the right knee painted in gold against a matt black backdrop and with a golden wreath scrollwork underneath. The belt also features a gold skull, and the associated pouches, notably those at the right-hand hip, are adorned with Purity Seals with a red painted seal and bone white ribbons, inclusive of sculpted lines of text picked out in black A further hanging reliquary sits just to the side of these in a chapel window shape with embedded skull, again painted in gold.  The chest section uses a winged skull sculpted design in dark grey, over which sits twin ropes with tassels. These are part of a cloak which is presented in a soft goods material using a camouflage design and with plastic sculpted straps and connectors fixed upon it. It is shaped to sit around the backpack and slots over a socket on the left of the chest where the rope connects, and is covered up by a gold skull seal that sits over the top. While this looks great, the fit of the skull seal is extremely poor to the point that it drops off at the slightest movement. I’d suggest fixing this in place permanently, or at least with some tack or museum putty.  The shoulder paulrdons are the smaller Scout profile, and both resculpted for Cyrus with a gold skull and wreath on the right-hand side, the base of which is a mix of bone white and dark grey. The other side features an embossed Blood Ravens Chapter Badge painted black, with the red central blood drop, and over this is a bone coloured name plate with the wording ‘Cyrus’. The body concludes with the backpack that connects in the usual pegged way and through the hole cut out in the soft goods cloak. This backpack includes the twin antennae seen on the Infilitrator Marine, and also comes with more adornments such as a gold-painted skull at the centre, two more purity seals, more twisted rope, and another gold reliquary pendant.  Pictured alongside the April 2026 Blood Ravens Infilitrator (standard) release The entirety of Cyrus’s armour starts with the crimson red of the Blood Ravens, but is heavily overlaid with both darker wash weathering and also silver drybrushed wear to show the colour rubbing in battle. The finish is excellent, and you can certainly see that the Elite format gets us close to the level of detail experienced painters might put into their character models. It does, however, cause disparity when displaying the figures together with a gulf in finish and quality, and only the release of Lieutenant Titus gets somewhere close to the finish on Cyrus.  There are two head sculpts included, the first an unmasked version depicting Cyrus with his long blond hair hanging to one side over his right eye with a matching cropped beard. The left-hand eye features an implanted cybernetic in silver with a circular red eye lens. This component wraps around the right ear to the back of the head and extends up with a further antenna. The finish is realistic in style, including painting on the visible eye, definition to the skin and to the hair, which is given a darker wash to bring out the sculpted lengths.  The second head is the helmet version, allowing you to display Cyrus in a second configuration. The helmet is identical to the one used on the standard Blood Ravens Infilitrator, coloured in the same way with green eye lenses and silver and grey vent detailing. To match the armour, this is washed in the same way. Head swapping is simple enough with a single peg extending from the neck section onto which the heads clip and unclip relatively easily. Standard WH40k releases usually get one large weapon or two smaller versions. As an Elite release, we have four different versions included for Cyrus, starting with a small bolt pistol cast in silver/grey and designed to fit into the right hand. While detailed enough, this lacks any further paint decor and has no holstering option when not in use.  The same is true of the knife, cast in the same silver finish with a sculpted grip and serrated edge. This can fit in either the right or left hand, but has no storage option despite the pouches/sheaths on the belt being big enough to be left hollow to allow Cyrus to holster both this and the bolt gun. The third weapon is the Bolter, and here the decor has been enhanced with a black body, silver barrel and grip and applied wash for weathering. You also get another purity seal on one side. The final weapon is a chain sword, black across the blade, trimmed with silver exposed teeth and the same silver on the grip section. A sculpted Imperium wing sits extending from the grip onto the blade guard and is painted in bronze.  Despite the ‘Elite’ format, the same issue with the gripping hands and their connection to the weaponry are prominent on Captain Cyrus, thanks to him using the base figure parts. Both right and left hand grips are stiff and difficult to engage without the application of some gentle heat. There is then a secondary issue that once the right hand has been stretched to allow the Bolter to be positioned, the grip shape is not quite right, and the Bolter falls from the hand far too frequently. The figure also includes two alternative left-hand versions: the pointing version to direct Troops into battle, and the flat palm version to support the Bolter for two-handed weapon posing.  Articulation is unchanged from the base Scout Space Marine, with 19 points in total starting with the pivot toes, ankle rockers, pinned knee joints and ball joint hips. Stability is fine on Cyrus thanks to the smaller profile legs and wide range of the ankles, and the toe joints work well for walking or running poses. You can also employ the included round display stand to support more dynamic poses. It will peg into either foot and creates an increased point of balance.  The upper body includes joints at the waist, chest and neck, while the arms are shoulder ball joints, pinned elbows, and a wrist peg. Like the other WH40k Marines, there is an issue at the shoulders, which are not ratcheted and are loose straight out of the box, making any poses with raised arms more difficult. I also found Cyrus suffered from loose wrist joints, and the hands tended to rotate too freely and pop out of the joints, which looked misformed on a couple of the hands.  Overall, Cyrus is arguably the best-looking Warhammer 40k release from McFarlane to date. The sculpt and proportions have always been good, and Cyrus shows what more detailing, weathering and embellishment can do to the overall look. This feels the closest we might get to replicating the 40mm characters at this larger scale. The accessories present a choice, but only the Bolter and Chainsword feel appropriate; the two smaller weapons feel like filler pieces - recycled from earlier figures - that lack the same level of decor or anywhere to stow them to kit out Cyrus for battle. The alternative hands and helmet allow for different variations in display, while the soft goods cape works well apart from that extremely loose connecting stud.  Articulation remains broadly impressive considering this is a heavily armoured Marine, but we still await a resolution on those floppy shoulders and weak wrists, neither of which should really be present on a figure that has an RRP pushing £50. The Elite Edition may present as premium results, but has to be used sparingly going forward to supplement the basic line; otherwise, we may see collectors priced out of the line, and it may ultimately flop if prices are pushed too high. • Review: McFarlane Warhammer 40k Dark Angels Sternguard Veteran

"We are the Lion's Angels, and we know no fear!" McFarlane’s Warhammer 40k line has been running since 2020, initially focusing on basic figures along with unpainted ‘Artists Proof’ variants, with more complex figures released as Gold Label Exclusives. In 2024, the line was partially rebranded and with that came figures with increased accessories, decor, a new box design, and a higher price tag. The frequency of releases, compared to other McFarlane lines, was quite high in 2024 following the rebrand, then dropped considerably, with fans now pretty much restricted to one full wave per year. For 2026, that wave arrived in April and featured three new Space Marines, including the first from the Blood Ravens . The wave also included the Space Wolves Grey Hunter  and a Dark Angels Sternguard.  Sitting alongside the wave was the first Warhammer 40k release in McFarlane’s premium Elite series, with the Blood Ravens Captain Cyrus  from Dawn of War.  In this review, we will be looking over the Dark Angels Sternguard Veteran, who arrives in the new box format with a white base and a large open window, in which the figure and accessories are spread out and displayed against a gloss black inner tray. To the base of this window, we have the Dark Angels Chapter colouring as a green insert, and the Sternguard name to confirm the troop type. The side art of the box features greyscale gothic art on the right-hand side overlaid with the character name, the opposite side features a blue-hued starmap from WH40k and over this sits the Dark Angels chapter badge.  The back of the box features a single full-size illustrated image of the Dark Angels Sternguard in battle,  but interestingly, the illustration shows the Dark Angels in their Terminator armour not the Marine armour on which the figure is based. There is no background information or checklist of other releases; the only text being the logos for McFarlane and Games Workshop and some legal text. A zoomed in version of this image is replicated on the included collector card, and here we do get some background on the Sternguard Marines on the reverse of the card. The Sternguard Marine is built onto the existing Intercessor Space Marine body, first released in 2020, with the various armoured components cast in the bone white of the Dark Angels 1st Company Deathwing, to whom the Sternguard Veterans belong. Joints between the bulky armour are cast in black. Each new Marine usually introduces a new armour part or element. For the Sternguard, we have new leg armour with a studded design on the left, with the studs painted silver, and the upper guard is plain and in gold. The right leg is plain, but has a dedication plaque in silver that reads ‘Caliban’. The guard above here is also gold and features three studs. The upper chest piece features a green painted winged skull, while the left hand pauldron is a smooth piece with twin upper trims, as taken from the original Ultramarines Intercessor. This surround trim is painted gold, and a red decal for the Dark Angels winged broken sword chapter badge. The right pauldron is also new, and features a sculpted Death Wing symbol painted in gold to match the outer trim. The Sternguard also features a belt piece with brown painted sections and a holster with a bolt pistol picked out in silver. The pistol is not removable and is therefore a missed opportunity for an additional weapon and working holster. From this belt flows the first soft goods tabard we’ve seen in the line. A soft and stitched green material that hangs pretty naturally.  The marine armour concludes with the backpack, a standard version but tweaked with a central skull and Deathwing symbol in the middle section, painted in gold. The entirety of the armour then features a wash or weathering of sorts. It is subtle, but adds some grime around the full armour parts and really makes the Sternguard Veteran look like a battle-hardened veteran. Our Sternguard has the MK6 beaked helmet, another first for the line as a helmeted look. This features red painted eye visors, gold on the Deathwing symbol above, and silver on the side components. This can be swapped out for an unmasked head featuring a bald Sternbuard marine with heavy sculpted scarring on one side. He also features service studs on his upper left forehead, and implanted components painted silver on each side. Like the other unmasked head in this wave (Wolf Guard), the realism is much improved, and the skin tone, scarring, lips and eyes are very well painted if not printed.  The Dark Angels have had a previous release in the WH40k line from McFarlane, the 2022 Assault Intercessor Sergeant. This older version was released in the standard green armour, but still matches well with the Sternguard’s green tones for Chapter uniformity. As the base bodies are the same, the heads can be swapped between the two figures. The only weapon provided with the Sternguard Veteran is the debut of the Heavy Bolter for the Marines. This is a large piece, almost as long as the legs on our Marine, and is cast in solid plastic with a silver body and red component parts, including a winged Deathwing sculpted symbol on one side just back from the barrel. The significant issue of getting gun grips into hands persists, and you will very likely need to warm up the Sternguard right hand with hot water or a gentle hairdryer to open the grip enough. Once in place, the weapon has a trigger where the trigger finger sits, and due to its size, the left hand is left as a flat supporting palm for two-handed poses.  Articulation remains standard at 17 points overall, including pins at the elbows and knees. The design of the joints allows a good level of movement despite the bulky armour, but the figure is let down by some balance issues with the lankle rockers not bending far enough forward to counteract the back-heavy figure’s balance. There is also an ongoing lack of strength or ratchets in the arms, in particular, apart from the elbow. The sheer weight of the blaster is hard to keep upright once posed, and even the two-handed pose has a tendency to sag with no stability in the shoulders or wrists.  More dynamic posing with the legs can be achieved using the included circular stand, which pegs into either foot. While it looks undersized based on the profile of the figure, it adds some level of stability to have your Sternguard marching forward or with weapons outstretched.  For me, personally, the Sternguard ticks a lot of boxes. The Dark Angels and, in particular, the Deathwing were a personal favourite of mine when I played WH40k, and the execution of the Veteran armour is great on the figure, particularly thanks to the weathering. I also love the beaked helmet, adding some variety to a wider Space Marine collection of McFarlane figures, which had started to feel a bit samey. The new parts expand the range nicely, and you cannot knock the improvement on the unmasked heads. Including two options also opens up some level of army building or retrofitting new heads to older bodies. Sadly, there are cons, and the hand grip concerns continue to frustrate, along with the inherent weakness of the shoulders and wrists. All that with a significant price hike over the last few years to circa £32 now here in the UK. • Review: McFarlane Warhammer 40k Blood Ravens Infilitrator (Dawn of War IV)

"Knowledge is power, guard it well." McFarlane’s Warhammer 40k line has been running since 2020, initially focusing on basic figures along with unpainted ‘Artists Proof’ variants, with more complex figures released as Gold Label Exclusives. In this review, we will be looking over the Blood Ravens Infiltrator from the new Dawn of War IV video game. The Infiltrator arrives in the new box format with a white base and a large open window, in which the figure and accessories are spread out and displayed against a gloss black inner tray. The red of the chapter colours are used under the window to confirm this as a Blood Ravens release, with the Infiltrator troop type confirmed underneath. As this is a video game release, we do also get the Dawn of War logo at the base of the window as well. The side art of the box features greyscale gothic art on the right-hand side overlaid with the character name, the opposite side features a blue-hued starmap from WH40k and over this sits the Blood Ravens chapter badge.  The rear of the box utilises promotional artwork for the game, with a Blood Ravens Marine in the top centre overlooking advancing troops across the hemisphere of a planet, including a Dreadnaught. The Marine in question is a generic troop and not the Infiltrator included in this set.  This same poster art is used on the included collector card, which features some background information on the reverse for the Chapter but not the Infiltrator troop type.  Our Blood Ravens Infiltrator is built onto the same body as the 2024 Blood Angels Reiver Sergeant, parts of which went on to be included in the Ultramarines Eliminator (2024) and the Ultramarines Reiver from 2025. This Scout Armour is less bulky than the Intercessor armour used on other figures, but is sculpted and built in the same way. Red Blood Ravens plastic, a lighter colour than the Blood Angels, is used to cast the component parts, which are assembled over black coloured joints.  The Infiltrator has two slimmed-down pauldrons, both coloured in a bone white finish with sculpted scratches and dings. The right carries the squad markings of Tactical Squad VII. The left pauldron is edged in black and in the middle has the Chapter badge in black with a red blood drop at its centre. The armour is further decorated with a gold-painted crossed skull on the chest and augmented with a belt and ammo pouches, strapped around the thighs, and a pair of frag grenades on the upper chest. The entirety of the figure has been given some level of dark weathering to dirty up the red, a feature often missing on the base McFarlane Warhammer figures.  The backpack is more or less the standard Intercessor format, but with extended antennae on the top painted in silver, with additional silver used on the side vents. Again, this is cast in base red and weathered. This release has a single head sculpt, while others in the same wave featured two. This Infiltrator helmet is cast in the same red as the armour, with green eye lenses, a gold skull on the forehead, and a grey painted mouthpiece. To the left-hand side is a larger communication piece with a black body and extended silver antennae. The same weathering is applied to the head. The Infiltrator comes with two weapon options and two additional hands. The first weapon is a Bolt Pistol, coloured silver and designed to fit in the right gripping hand. There is no holstering option, so you will need to choose between this and the larger Space Marine Bolter. The Bolter also uses silver, but with contrasting black on the upper body and lower grips. This again fits into the same right hand, and an alternative left hand with a more open palm can be used to support the barrel in a two-handed pose. Like most Warhammer Marines from McFarlane, both weapons are very difficult to engage in the overly stiff hands without a touch of heat treatment. As well as the weapons, there are alternative hands - both left - which include a pointing version to direct troops into battle. The other is a standard grip, most likely for a knife or sword as we saw with the Ultramarines Reiver, but no such weapon is included with this set. You can probably force the smaller Bolt Pistol into this gripping left hand, but there is no trigger finger, so the overall look will be off. The Scout Marine body includes a slightly broader range of articulation, with 19 points in total. This is two more than a usual Marine, and the additional joint can be found on the feet, where a toe joint works alongside the ankle rocker for walking or running positions. The rest of the legs are standard, including pinned knees, but I find this Scout body a little easier to balance with less armour around the ankles, which therefore have a broader range of movement to find a flat-footed position.  You also get the usual circular display stand that has a single peg to fit into either foot. This can be utilised to support some more dynamic stances. The upper torso includes waist and chest joints and a ball joint neck. The Arms are pinned at the elbows and include the usual wrist, bicep and shoulder joints. As is the case with all Marines from McFarlane, the shoulder in particular, and the wrists, lack ratcheting to add strength and can be floppy straight out of the box or soon after. In this instance, neither of the weapons included in the set are overly heavy, so for the most part, this arm weakness is not immediately a problem as it is for other Marines with longer swords or bigger bolt guns or plasma throwers. The Blood Ravens Infiltrator marks the debut of the Blood Ravens into the McFarlane collection, ahead of some obvious gaps still, like the White Scars or the Salamanders. The decision is very much driven by the upcoming release of Dawn of War IV (sometime in 2026) and as a supporting troop to the first Warhammer 40k Elite Release of Captain Cyrus from the same game.  The Scout armour is a nice variation for display and its lower profile helps with posing, and the smaller format weapons do not cause as much of an issue as other figures to expose the weak shoulder and wrist joints. The alternative hands seem an odd choice, and I would have traded those and the Bolt Pistol in for an alternative unmasked head to support army building and variation for display. • Review: McFarlane Warhammer 40k Space Wolves Grey Hunter

"We are the warriors of Fenris! Forged by ice and fire.” McFarlane’s Warhammer 40k line has been running since 2020, initially focusing on basic figures along with unpainted ‘Artists Proof’ variants, with more complex figures released as Gold Label Exclusives. In this review, we will be looking over the Space Wolves Grey Hunter, who arrives in the new box format with a white base and a large open window, in which the figure and accessories are spread out and displayed against a gloss black inner tray. The Chapter Colour and name is featured on a call-out bar just under the window, and the figure name sits underneath this. The side art of the box features a grey-scale gothic imagery on the right-hand side, where the Chapter and Figure name is repeated. The left-hand side is a blue-hued starmap overlaid with the Space Wolves chapter colour. The entirety of the back of the box is turned over to artwork, a blown-up image of the Grey Hunter, which is also used on the included collector card. There are no details of the chapter or troop type or the WH40k universe, and the only text is a WH40k logo and the usual copyright and legal notices. The background information for the figure/Chapter is included on the collector card included in the set. The reverse side of this card also features the same starfield backdrop and the WH40k logo and Space Wolves Chapter badge. The Grey Hunter is built on the basic Intercessor Marine base that has been in place since the early days of the line. Each armoured part is cast in the grey/blue of the Space Wolves, and is connected at the joints with internal black sections. Detailing is accurate to the profile of an Intercessory Marine, and adorned further with the large sculpted chest emblem picked out on this figure in a bright gold finish. Each shoulder Pauldron is painted in a contrasting colour, the right in red with black teeth marks to represent the markings for one of the Grey Hunter packs.  The other shoulder is a variant piece, complete with a sculpted tied sash with teeth trophies and runes. This is also pitted and scratched within the sculpt, very different from everywhere else, and then painted in yellow. The black Wolf head emblem is sculpted and painted, the design confirming this is a member of Ragnar Blackmane’s Great Company.  The backpack arrives separately in the box, then plugs securely (almost too stiffly) into a socket on the Marine’s back. It too is cast in grey/blue and is more or less identical to prior releases apart from a sculpted Wolf head emblem on the centre circular panel that is then painted in black. The only other decor on the figure’s body is the belt, cast the same as the armour with the buckle left this base colour, and the rest of the belt and pouches picked out in brown.  Our Grey Hunter comes with two head options, the first of which is the basic Intercessor Marine helmet, cast again in blue/grey with painted red eye lenses, a black mouthpiece, and silver components on each side. It slots into the neck peg easily. It can be swapped with an unmasked head, allowing two different Grey Hunters to be created from one release. This is a much-improved head in terms of realism to previous versions, including the premium Titus release from 2024, and the two sergeants from the 2025 wave. The unmasked head is sculpted scowling with teeth bared. He features a full beard and swept back blond hair with a darker wash to add depth. Skin tone is natural, and features include visible bulging veins and a furrowed brow. The eyes are also much more realistic, and while I cannot say these are printed, they are similar to what we are used to on the Hasbro collector lines. Implanted components on this head sit on the right-hand side and around the back in blue/grey and silver panels.  Wolf Guard head on Grey Hunter Body (right) Prior to the 2026 wave, the only Chapters with multiple releases were the Ultramarines and Blood Angels. The Grey Hunter is now the second of the Space Wolves releases, and alongside the Wolf Guard  from 2024, it is good to see that the base armour colour match is pretty good between the Space Wolves releases, particularly when previously some of the Ultramarines releases, in particular, had variant blue base tones.  Grey Hunter heads on Wolf Guard Body The way McFarlane is designing these figures also makes parts compatible with each other, so the heads from the Grey Hunter fit the Wolf Guard and vice versa. This opens up wider army-building if you have multiple figures, or allows a different version for display if you were not overly keen on the 2024 headsculpt. The newer format figures come with a wider range of accessories. As well as two head options, our Grey Hunter also comes with two weapons and a spare left-hand piece. The chainsword dates back to the first waves of 2020, but the decor is more enhanced. The main body of the sword is black, with silver runes and silver on the teeth of the saw blade. There si more silver on the base of the blade section that leads into a gold grip with a red grip handle.  The line continues to have an issue with hand grips, which are far too rigid to accommodate the weapons without significant and excessive force or some heat treatment to open the grip (hot water or a carefully applied hairdryer). The sword will fit in both left and right hands, the left being the most natural. In hand, it can be wielded in neutral or attack positions, but there is weakness in the wrist joints, which can swivel under the weight and in the upper shoulder, which lacks a ratchet and feels extremely loose. The same applies to the Bolter, a similar weapon from prior releases but with a slight upgrade to align with the Space Wolves chapter, thanks to the addition of a hanging tooth pendant. The weapon also gets enhanced decor, silver and black predominantly, with silver runes on the main body. The ‘tooth’ hanging off the rear grip is painted in black. It fits into the right hand where the trigger finger can just slot into place. The alternative left hand can be brought in here for two-handed positions, supporting the barrel of the weapon.  Articulation has been consistent across the Intercessor base body since launch, and it works out at 17 points in total. These include pinned elbows and knees, and a lack of any significant ratcheting, which results in the looseness of joints, further hampered by such a bulky and heavy body.  Stability is OK in the legs, but moving outside of the base neutral stance can cause balance issues with the weight at the back of the figure, and ankle joints that sometimes don’t quite equalise against that. More dynamic walking or running poses are possible, but you may need to use the included black circular stand with a single peg that connects to sockets on either foot. This standard-sized McFarlane stand looks massively undersized to the Marine, but it does offer a touch more stability.  The upper body has a wide range of movement in the arms, despite how they look, but is lacking in joint stability, with the arms flopping down and not holding position, particularly with the weapons in play. The centre mass has some torso movement across two midriff joints, and the head can articulate on the neck peg to add character. With the RRP on these increasing more sharply than other lines, the £32 UK RRP still feels more or less in line with the bulk and size of the figure you are purchasing. Alongside these price increases , each wave of the Warhammer 40k line does see a step forward in execution. The 2026 figures certainly see that most evidently in the unmasked headsculpt on this release and on the corresponding Dark Angels Sternguard. Otherwise, what we have is a 6-year-old body that articulates to a reasonable level, but has limitations under its own weight. Weapons being placed into hands remains problematic, and the overall finish lacks the depth and detailing that the WH40k game is known for. The Wolf Guard perhaps needed one further layer of wash to bring out all the beauty of the sculpt.  Keep Track of all the Warhammer 40k figures from McFarlane at our comprehensive McFarlane Collectors Database & Checklist If you are reading this via a 3rd party website that is importing our newsfeed, please come and visit us directly and give us a follow on Facebook , Twitter , and YouTube .
