Happy #SatTOYday everyone!

There were a handful of brand new figures revealed this week via Hasbro with new additions in Star Wars Black Series, Marvel Legends and GI Joe. McFarlane have provided some clarity on the two Batman Beyond releases with promo images released for both. And Mezco have finally opened the pre-orders for Morbius.

The Thundertank from Super7's Thundercats Ultimates line opened for pre-order this week with a $450 price tag in the US and an imported price of £500 here in the UK.

This weeks reviews include the first half of the new Star Wars Black Series Archive Wave with a look at both Cody and Thrawn. Doctor Who is also featured with the Amazon Exclusive 13th Doctor and the 12th Doctor & Davros set. I am also finally finishing off my Ghostbusters Plasma Series reviews - starting with Dana Barrett.

McFarlane DC Multiverse

This week has given us clarity on the two McFarlane DC Multiverse Batman Beyond figures incoming later this year. Both figures share the same body and wings, with amended heads and accessories.

Up first is the Batman Beyond that sits as part of the Batman (Jokerbot) Futures End wave and that is based on the comic book series. He will be released in March 2021 in the US via target, while elsewhere in the world we will have to wait until the end of 2021 when we get the full wave at once. The figure features two batarangs, alternative hands, stand and art card.

The second figure is a standalone release which will be based on the Batman Beyond animated TV show. This general release is scheduled for a June 2021 arrival and features one batarang, flight stand, jet boot FX pieces and alternative hands.

Star Wars Black Series

There was a surprise pre-order drop for the Star Wars Black Series this week. The new Cal Kestis figure signals the move of the Gaming Greats into the Phase 4 packaging as well as the first Deluxe release in the line. The pack features Cal in one of the games poncho outfits, complete with removable hood. There are two lighsabers - a blue single blade and a green dual-blade saber. The set also includes a Jedi Holocron, BD-1 droid and a Bogling. It is down for a Summer 2021 release.

GI Joe Fortnite X-Over

The current season of Fortnite is welcoming hunters from across franchises and fandom as new skins into the game - including the likes of The Mandalorian, The Predator and The Terminator. This week it Snake Eyes from GI Joe who entered the game via the Zero Point, and to celebrate Hasbro announced a Zero Point Exclusive of their existing Classified Series GI Joe Snake Eyes figure.

The new Snake Eyes will feature updated decor and will come with Fornite inspired weaponry and accessories. He is a January 2022 release, so there is a quite a wait until you can add him to your collection.

Marvel Legends

With it being the first Monday in February, Hasbro also had a Marvel Monday reveal for us in the shape of this new deluxe release of Maestro. This alternative reality future Hulk features a new head sculpt and will come with alternative hands. He is an August 2021 release.

Super7 Thundertank

The enormous Super7 Ultimates scale Thundertank went up for pre-order this week with a US price tag of $450. Super7 are only shipping this one themselves in the US and have distribution partners in place around the world who will then supply the item direct, or into independent vendors.

Here in the UK the distribution is via Sideshow with UK retailers now considering their options for offering this. Comics & Cocktails & Toysarama have listed the item at a £500 price tag with a payment plan option with others like Into the Verse considering their options based on customer interest and demand.

NECA King Kong

While NECA no longer have the Godzilla licence to produce figures, they are progressing with King Kong content and have this week confirmed the details of their next release. The Illustrated King Kong is a repaint of their base Kong figure, with décor designed to imitate the 1974 Basil Gogos poster. Like the main release the set includes two head options and alternative hands. He will be a February release, first at Walmart stores in the US as a timed exclusive with a wider release later in the year.

There was more King Kong news from NECA this week courtesy of a teaser image that they put up, without comment, on their social channels. The image looks to show the Dinosaurs from the 1933 Kong movie? We await an update from NECA as to how and when these are coming out.

Mezco One:12 Collective

After first showing Morbius, the Living Vampire, at the 2019 SDCC event - we now finally have an Autumn 2021 release date and pre-orders for Morbius are now open. The new figure will feature three head options, a selection of hands and an impressive looking modular mobile Science Lab crate complete with various components such as test tubes, beaker, microscope, analyser and serum gun. Weapons in the crate include stakes, a hammer and a dagger. This mobile lab piece also includes a light up feature

Loyal Subjects BST AXN

For those who have not come across the BST AXN figures from The Loyal Subjects, the line is a multi-franchise range of 5 inch articulated figures with figures already announced and on their way to stores from properties such as Lord of the Rings, Big Trouble in Little China and Full Metal Alchemist.

In a new post from The Loyal Subjects it seems the next franchises to join the series are Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Avatar : The Last Airbender.

This Weeks Action Figure Reviews...

About Me : As a child of the 70's and 80's I grew up in a golden age for action figures and in my youth bought and sold myself through collections of Star Wars, G.I. Joe (Action Force) and M.A.S.K. while also dabbling in He-Man, Transformers and Ghostbusters. Roll forward and I am now reliving that Youth with the action figures of today and am a collector and fan of the larger 6-8 inch figures from my favourite movie and TV licences - including the ones mentioned above, but also the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Who and the Aliens. I launched The Mephitsu Archives in 2015 with a view of creating a UK focused site or these figures where fans can pick up the latest action figure news, read reviews and get information on where to buy their figures and what is currently on store shelves. I hope I am delivering that to you guys...
