SatTOYday Roundup : Issue 148

Happy #SatTOYday everyone!
There is simply no stopping McFarlane at the moment, and this week Todd and his team ran another virtual McFarlane Con... or rather they revealed some new properties, a bunch of new figures including Mortal Kombat variants, a better look at The Witcher figures and more in their Warhammer 40k line. Todd also revealed that a new Spawn Kickstarter is being prepared with a Medieval Spawn being the focus this time round.
Elsewhere, Hasbro finally gave Studio Series fans news about new Transformers - and it was worth the wait. Diamond revealed the first new Marvel Select figure for some time, while NECA were showing off more new Turtle figures and a rather good looking Greta from Gremlins 2.
Just one new review this week, and another Hasbro Pulse Con Exclusive with a look at the Star Wars Black Series Hoth Wampa. Stay tuned for more Pulse Con Exclusive Reviews over the next couple of weeks and plenty of other new figures from various licences including McFarlane, Character Options and Hasbro.

McFarlane Mortal Kombat
The McFarlane juggernaut shows no sign of slowing at the moment, and within the various licences there looks to be a large push on Mortal Kombat at the moment - albeit with variants and repaints of the main characters already in the line.
This week they revealed a new twin pack containing variant figures of Raiden (Uncompromising Defender Skin) and Scorpion (Blackout Skin). The set has a 1st of November release date.

We then got the full promo images of the "bloody" variant figures that McFarlane had originally shown during SDCC week back in July. These include new bloody variants of Spawn, Baraka and Raiden. And there is also a new Sub-Zero in his Frozen Over Skin. Spawn and Baraka will land shortly as they have a 30th of October release date. Raiden and Sub-Zero will follow on the 20th of November.
McFarlane The Witcher
Reveals were also in this week for the McFarlane Witcher figures. Again, we had seen a tease of these - but this week the full gallery for the general release of Geralt of Rivia in both 7 inch and 12 inch scale as well as a 7 inch scale Eredin Bréacc Glas. All three figures are scheduled for a March 2021 release.
McFarlane Warhammer 40k
The Warhammer 40k line from McFarlane is just hitting UK stores now, but they have already announced more figures for the line in 2021. This week, via the Warhammer Community, we got sight of a new Blood Angels Space Marine Hellblaster. The Hellblaster will also get an unpainted Artists Proof release with generic iconography and there will also be an Artists Proof release of the Sister of Battle revealed a few weeks ago.
McFarlane announce new licences
McFarlane announced new licences this week with product in development for 2021 release. The first announcement was for the licence to produce toys from Nickelodeon's Avatar series Legend of Aang and Legend of Korra. They then confirmed that they would be producing toys from the 1987 classic movie, The Princess Bride. We shall watch how these two licences develop.
Habro HasLab Razor Crest
The HasLab 3.75 inch scale Vintage Collection Razor Crest has had a third stretch goal added for 13,000 backers. If the project reaches this new milestone then a set of four Carbonized figure will be added to fill up the hold of the ship.
Star Wars Vintage Collection
There was more news for Vintage Collection fans this week with the announcement and pre-order of a new Return of the Jedi Boba Fett figure.
Transformers Studio Series
And there was some long awaited reveals this week for the Hasbro Transformers Studio Series. The line is going to go way back to 1986 with the next set of releases, with Transformers taken from Transformers : The Movie. These releases will be numbered as 86 with sub-numbering between them.
Revealed in the 1986 wave are Deluxe figures of Jazz, Kup and Blurr. There are Voyager Class figures of and Hot Rod and Scourge. And a Leader class Grimlock. All five figures are now up for pre-order with a tentative Spring/Summer 2021 release date.
In more Transformers news, the Devastator from Revenge of the Fallen is getting a boxed release. Numbered 69 in the Studio Series, the set will include all eight of the Constructicons which then combine to make the enormous Devastator. The set will be a December 2020 release.

Mezco Leatherface
Mezco have teased a new One:12 Collective figure of Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. There are no more details at this stage, but the pre-order and full release details should be due soon.
Incendium Highlander Figures
Incendium are expanding their 5 inch FigBiz line of action figures to the 1990's Highlander animated series, with new figures of Kurgan and Connor MacLeod planned for a mid 2021 release. The figures feature 12 points of articulation and appropriate weapons and accessories. They are packed on retro inspired blister cards.
Marvel Select
The Marvel Select line of 7 inch figures from Diamond has been reasonably quiet of late. We've had a few re-releases, but nothing new confirmed in the main line for some time. This all changed this week with the reveal by Diamond of a new Johnny Storm Human Torch figure from the Fantastic Four. Johnny will feature a fiery display stand and fire shooting hand piece. No more details were given, other than the images, and we'd expect this to be a 2021 release.
NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
While many major conventions are cancelled at present, some smaller events are taking place and the NECA team took themselves to ToyCon New Jersey last weekend and took with them some brand new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle figures to reveal.
In the Turtles in Time video game releases we have Pirate versions of Bebop and Rocksteady to come. And in the Cartoon series line, we got a look at Bebop and Rocksteady in their Bunny Suits - although these two are exclusive to Lootcrate and pretty much sold out as you had to subscribe to three cases to get all the exclusive figures.
NECA Gremlins
NECA also had Gremlins news for us this week with the final confirmation that Greta, as seen back in February at Toy Fair, is on the release schedule for early 2021. As seen in Gremlins 2 : The New Batch, Greta will feature synthetic hair, a feather boa, alternative hands and the hormone potion that transformed her in the beauty she is.

Mattel Jurassic World
The Amber Collection from Mattel is their 6 inch collectors line for the Jurassic World franchise. The releases have been quite slow since the line was announced, with just three human characters and Velociraptors revealed to date. That is not going to change anytime soon with this week's announcement of two more Velociraptor variants of Echo and Delta to round out the foursome from Jurassic World. Both figures share the existing Raptor sculpt, but with variant paint jobs to match their on screen look. Both come with the headgear - which is removable. They are pretty much out now and instock via Amazon and Target.
This Weeks Action Figure Reviews...
About Me : As a child of the 70's and 80's I grew up in a golden age for action figures and in my youth bought and sold myself through collections of Star Wars, G.I. Joe (Action Force) and M.A.S.K. while also dabbling in He-Man, Transformers and Ghostbusters. Roll forward and I am now reliving that Youth with the action figures of today and am a collector and fan of the larger 6-8 inch figures from my favourite movie and TV licences - including the ones mentioned above, but also the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Who and the Aliens. I launched The Mephitsu Archives in 2015 with a view of creating a UK focused site or these figures where fans can pick up the latest action figure news, read reviews and get information on where to buy their figures and what is currently on store shelves. I hope I am delivering that to you guys...
