Happy #SatTOYday everyone!
We should have been celebrating New York Comic Con this week. While the convention might not have gone ahead, Storm still revealed their NYCC 2020 exclusives this week with the orders going live this weekend. Hasbro were still churning out news even after the Hasbro Pulse Con event - this week we have a new Gaming Greats Star Wars figure, Retro Marvel Legends release and a new MCU multi-pack heading to Amazon as an Exclusive.
In other news we have Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle offerings from both Super7 and NECA. And from Tamashii Nations, a very different look for The Mandalorian. Busy week for reviews as I unpack and look at the Star Wars Black Series Heroes of Endor Set, with other reviews for both Black Series and Marvel Legends.
Marvel Legends, Children of Thanos
Amazon and Hasbro put a brand new surprise MCU Marvel Legends set up for pre-order this week. The Children of Thanos set is a 5 figure box set from Avengers Infinity War. It features Thanos - with additional damaged head and withered arm, Proxima Midnight, Corvus Glaive, Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian. Proxima will get a new paint job while Cull Obsidian gets a more screen accurate make over vs the original BAF.
The set will be a December 2021 release and can only be ordered via Amazon. At the point of publishing this newsletter, only the US site had the item listed.
Marvel Legends Retro
As we moved into October, we had another Marvel Monday reveal with the unveiling of a new Black Cat Marvel Legends figure on a Retro Spider-Man cardback. Black Cat will include her trademark whip as well as a black cat accessory. She will be a January 2021 release.
Black Series Gaming Greats
The Gaming Greats line will return to Jedi : Fallen Order for its next release with this revised version of the Imperial Scout Trooper. The figure features a new vest piece and a force pike weapon. He will be released in November.
Movie Realization Ronin Mandalorian
Tamashii Nations Movie Realization line see's Star Wars characters reimagined as they might have appeared in a Feudal Japanese setting. The latest of these, coming March 2021, is a Ronin version of The Mandalorian. He will feature Samurai inspired armour, soft goods cape, disintegrator rifle, blaster and katana with sheath.
NECA Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
The NECA Turtle Tuesday reveal this week was a new Cartoon 2-Pack of Master Splinter and Baxter Stockman. Spinter includes instructional books, a sword, a flaming sword and a rat. Baxter Stockman has his transmutation gun as well as a computer. In the set are a Fly version of Shredder and Michelangelo as a Gerbil. The pack will be a Target US Exclusive and will in stores in the next few weeks.
Super7 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
There was more Turtle news this week courtesy of Super7. They put the 4th wave of their cartoon based TMNT Ultimates up for pre-order. The four figure wave includes Donatello, Casey Jones, Mondo Gecko and Muckman - who will also come with Joe Eyeball. The preorder period will remain open for a month and then the figures will go into production with a Summer 2021 release scheduled.
Storm Collectibles NYCC Exclusives
This week would have been New York Comic Con week had Covid 19 not caused this, and most other events, to be cancelled. Storm Collectibles had a number of exclusives lined up for the event - and with no physical show to sell them at they will go up for sale via Bluefin Brands.
From Street Fighter is a variant version of the recently announced E. Honda. From Samurai Shodown we have a red outfit variant of Haohmaru. From Golden Axe is a 2-pack of Skeleton Warriors in a purple hue colour. And from Mortal Kombat is Motaro, with bloody paint apps.
Storm Gatchaman / Battle of the Planets
Storm were also showing off a new licencing deal this week which will allow them to make 6 inch scale figures from Gatchaman. The show is better known in the US and UK as Battle of the Planets, and the first figure shown is Ken the Eagle (aka Mark from G-Force).
