SatTOYday Roundup : Issue 128

Happy #SatTOYday everyone!

In this week's issue we take a look at another full wave of Marvel Legends that has been announced by Hasbro as well as two new Jurassic Park figures from Mattel. There are some new reveals of NECA product that have come via UK retailers and a reveal from NECA themselves for the packaging for their Halloween 2 Michael Myers

I also concluded my "just for fun" unofficial vote for the Hasbro Star Wars Black Series Archive figure. The results, from our UK based audience, were quite interesting. Check out this link for the details.

Marvel Legends Strong Guy BAF Wave

The 1st Monday of each month (apparently) now see's Hasbro release new Marvel Legends products for pre-order. For June it was final confirmation of the Strong Guy BAF wave. We've seen most of the figures previously at convention reveals, but now the full 7 figure line up is confirmed.

This will be Deadpool themed with Wade in his X-Men outfit an as Pirate-Pool. He will be joined by Black Tom Cassidy, Maverick, Sunspot and Warpath. The final figure is Shiklah, and she will come with Jeff the Land Shark as an accessory piece.

The full wave, with the parts to build the Strong Guy BAF, can be pre-ordered now and will start to be shipped around October 2020

Jurassic Park Dennis Nedry and Dilophosaurus

The next two 6 inch Amber Collection Jurassic Park figures from Mattel were teased some time ago, and are now confirmed as being Dennis Nedry and his nemesis the Dilophosaurus from the original Jurassic Park film. While the first figures have yet to reach UK shores, these two are from Entertainment Earth so should be more wider spread for release - and will be here sooner than we think with a July release date.

Nedry comes with two heads as well as the Barbasol canister for smuggling out embryos. The Dilo can be displayed without without neck frill and has a poison spitting FX piece. Both figures have an amber style base with an acrylic riser for the Dilophosaurus for more dynamic posing.

Comic Con at Home Exclusive : Iron Giant

SDCC 2020 may be cancelled, but the team will be running Comic Con at Home 2020 with a virtual experience for fans. This will include the same exclusives, and now we are in June we will start to see many of these Convention Reveals.

Up first for action figures is Diamond Select who will have 3000 units of an exclusive Iron Giant figure up for sale. The figure features light up features, special packaging and a darker paint job than the regular release. To keep it simple DIamond are selling this via Previews to independent comic stores - so if you want one, speak to your local store.

NECA Marty McFly "Tales from Space" Ultimate

Usually NECA are very very good at social media announcements for new products, but this week saw a couple of reveals via the stores themselves. The source seems to be the UK wholesaler putting these items up for order and allowing the independent stores to list them for pre-order. At the time of this article there is no official word from NECA

Up first was this Marty McFly from Back to the Future. This was one of the two figures we saw in February at Toy Fair. it is Marty in his hazmat suit as he pretends to be Darth Vader from Vulcan. The set will be titled "Tales from Space" and will be an Ultimate release featuring alternative head and hood pieces, a hairdryer and a walkman. It is being set as an October 2020 release.

NECA Terminator II Sarah & John Connor 2-Pack

The other reveal via UK retailers was a two pack of Sarah Connor and John Connor from Terminator 2. This is the first release of the John Connor figure outside of his SDCC 2019 release.

Listings for John Connor and the images used have varied, but the listing confirms he comes with just one head, hacking device and the Endoskeleton Arm. The bike and the 2nd head are not included. It is not yet clear if the jacket will be a camo design.

Sarah is a repack of her Ultimate release - with three heads and a selection of weapons. The two will be sold in the UK for around the £50 mark and are due for a November 2020 release.

NECA Halloween II

NECA have revealed the clamshell packaging this week for their 8 inch Michael Myers from Halloween II

About Me : As a child of the 70's and 80's I grew up in a golden age for action figures and in my youth bought and sold myself through collections of Star Wars, G.I. Joe (Action Force) and M.A.S.K. while also dabbling in He-Man, Transformers and Ghostbusters. Roll forward and I am now reliving that Youth with the action figures of today and am a collector and fan of the larger 6-8 inch figures from my favourite movie and TV licences - including the ones mentioned above, but also the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Who and the Aliens. I launched The Mephitsu Archives in 2015 with a view of creating a UK focused site or these figures where fans can pick up the latest action figure news, read reviews and get information on where to buy their figures and what is currently on store shelves. I hope I am delivering that to you guys...
