SatTOYday Roundup : Issue 119

Happy #SatTOYday everyone!

And this week has very much been all about Star Wars. With the release of Rise of Skywalker on DVD on the 31st of March we saw reveals from SH Figuarts while Hasbro badged the day as Fan Appreciation Day and revealed a raft of new figures with the help of several fan websites.

In other news, NECA's online content seems to be back with some new images this week via Randy Falk on Twitter - most notably a better look at the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1990 movie pack of Casey Jones and Raphael.

I am keeping on track with one review a day during isolation, and have some offerings this week from Marvel Legends, Star Wars, Game of Thrones and Call of Duty.... enjoy

Star Wars Fan Appreciation Day Reveals by Hasbro

The 31st of March, the day The Rise of Skywalker was released on DVD, was badged by Hasbro as Fan Appreciation Day. To celebrate they teamed up with a number of Star Wars fan sites and sent out figure reveals to each of them. At 8pm UK time each site revealed their Star Wars figure.

We were not chosen to participate, but were sent the full press pack afterwards and the details and images have been added to our site.

In Summary we have two new Vintage collection 3.75 inch figures in the shape of K-2SO from Rogue One and Clone Commander Wolffe.

There will be two further additions to the Black Series Carbonized figures with the release in late Spring of Carbonized Boba Fett and the Carbonized Imperial Stormtrooper. While these follow most of the same principles as the 2019 Carbonized foursome, these will not be numbered on the box and will carry a 40th Anniversary logo for The Empire Strikes Back. These are also not exclusive and will be a special release across most retailers.

And Hasbro has started to give us an idea of the shape of the next wave of Black Series general releases planned for the Autumn. New figures were revealed of Admiral Ackbar and Teebo the Ewok from Return of the Jedi, Darth Vader from The Empire Strikes Back and a Beskar Armour Mandalorian.

SH Figuarts The Mandalorian

In last weeks issue we saw a new image of a Beskar armoured Mandalorian from SH Figuarts. This week the figure is revealed in all its glory with a host of accessories and FX parts, including jetpack and whistling birds firing effects. The figure is down for a September 2020 release.

This Weeks Action Figure Reviews...

About Me : As a child of the 70's and 80's I grew up in a golden age for action figures and in my youth bought and sold myself through collections of Star Wars, G.I. Joe and M.A.S.K. while also dabbling in He-Man, Transformers and Ghostbusters. Roll forward and I am now reliving that Youth with the action figures of today and am a collector and fan of the larger 6-8 inch figures from my favourite movie and TV licences - including the ones mentioned above, but also the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Doctor Who and the Aliens. I launched The Mephitsu Archives in 2015 with a view of creating a UK focused site or these figures where fans can pick up the latest action figure news, read reviews and get information on where to buy their figures and what is currently on store shelves. I hope I am delivering that to you guys...
