Rogue One Trailer 2 : what new figure possibilities does it throw up?

Well the 2nd trailer for Rogue One is here and has been shared like crazy across all social media platforms.

Rather than analyse the trailer to death, I'd like to stick to what we do best - Action Figures - and try and pick out anything new in the trailer we may end up getting (next year now) in the Hasbro range particularly who always go much deeper on movie's than Disney Elite and Bandai.

It was interesting there is no real focus on the Shore Troopers who have a fleeting appearance in the beach battle, and the Death Troopers only show up once - with more focus on the Original Storm Trooper design. It therefore seems a no-brainer that Hasbro will re-issue these in the 6" Black Series. You would also assume the "disguises" that Jyn and Cassian are wearing would also translate to a figure as the head sculpts are already done and both bodies can be used elsewhere - potential future exclusive options if they can push them through before the Episode 8 marketing begins?

Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelson) is a character we've not really seen yet, and as interesting as his role is in the movie I am not sure he will make a great figure. On the flip side Saw Gerrera (Forrest Whitaker) looks great and with us already getting him from Hasbro in 3.75" a 6" figure would be nice too. And what about a Rogue One era Mon Mothma, is Hasbro brave enough to give us a "non action" female figure in either range?

Background figures like Edrio Two-Tubes or the Rebel Soldiers or Officers may not be forthcoming in the 6" scale after Hasbro were maybe burned by Zuvio last year, and to a lesser degree the Guavian Enforcer - especially when we still need Bodi Rook to round out the Rebels at 6" scale. We know Two-Tubes will at least make it to the 3.75" range,

The movie also gives us a real opportunity for some figures that could span both Rogue One and A New Hope - the Death Star Trooper being the key one for me, and hopefully the Death Star Gunner too as you have to think they show up somewhere in the movie. There are also plenty of Imperial Officers floating around, none more so than Krennic who it seems will show up as the Director (figure we've seen) and as flashback to an earlier time. These officer sculpts would no doubt lend themselves well to being tweaked into some other Trilogy officers - particularly a Tarkin or even a Thrawn?

Star Wars Rogue One fever is officially here in Mephitsu Towers. Keep checking back for our Rogue One figure reviews.... You can also join the discussion on Facebook and let us know what figures you are looking forward to or wishing will make it to store shelves.
